This is the best value MicroSD Card in terms of memory and read/write speed.

This is a VERY fast MicroSD card you can find (128GB), but is more expensive.

256 GB, in my opinion, is way too expensive right now. Prices should be better by the end of the year.

I recommend you not to use Adoptable Storage. The card you chose is slow compared to storage chips on the phone and that could cause problems with apps. In specs sheet of most cards, write speed is not even written, which is generally like ~8-10 time slower than read speed. Always check for write speed since you are going to take photos and videos.

If you still want to use Adoptable Storage, go for Samsung ones with UHS-3 like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOB6YUQ/ref=psdc_3015433011_t1_B01CO48M36

You can also get Evo+, Pro (for general usage, 1080p videos, without adoptable storage) or Pro+ ones but those looks like discontinued. Evo Select looks like the new series.

But you can save your photos directly to SD card even if you do not use Adoptable Storage, but still recommend to get a UHS-3 card minimum.

Also, when you first activate your phone, you should have got an offer from Google. 100GB cloud storage, use that too if you have forgotten you have activated it.

Also, beware that some sellers on Amazon are selling counterfeit cards. Always check that "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" is written while buying SD cards.

I wouldn't get the Evo Line for a switch. Its cheaper than the pro line and tends to have higher storage capacities. On the other hand it has a much shorter life span so you will need to buy a new one sooner than you would if you bought the Pro line.

The reason for the life difference is because the Evo line uses TLC memory and the Pro line uses MLC memory. TLC memory Read/write life cycles are around 3,000 to 5,000 cycles per cell. On the other hand MLC read/write life is around 10,000 per cell. One source among many.

TL:DR- MLC memory has longer life span than TLC memory. Evo uses TLC memory Pro uses MLC.

Anyone have any opinion on this card?
It seems to have the same read/write and is ~$20 less on amazon than OPs card.

u/authentic010 · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Im sorry but you over payed. Samsung evo select pro 128gb for $76 same class

Read speed wise, most microSD cards are comparable so if that's your only concern, the 200gb SanDisk Ultra is your best bet. If you care at all about write speed, you should look elsewhere. Also, be wary of UHS-II spec cards that claim 150mbps read speed (along with a laughable 20mbps write) that require an adapter to achieve such speeds such as this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00U77V5KU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_5BxzybEV9MBMT

If you're looking for the best microSD hands down, it's the Samsung 256gb EVO+. MSRP is $249 and Amazon has it for $139. Quite the bargain. A ton are in the wild considering that many people such as myself chose this as the freebie for purchasing a Note7 (or S7/S7 edge). https://smile.amazon.com/Samsung-256GB-EVO-UHS-I-microSDXC/dp/B01JNGCWHU/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483139819&sr=1-6&keywords=evo%2B+256

If you're looking to spend a bit less and can do with half the storage, the Samsung 128gb PRO Select is your next best bet. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01DOB6YUQ?ref=emc_b_5_t

Both of those cards are rated at 90mbps write and read with real life usage hitting within a couple mbps of that.

Does [this](Samsung 128GB 95MB/s PRO Select Micro SDXC Memory Card (MB-MF128DA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOB6YUQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_luIPyb2CF7GKX) look authentic? Is there a better card available that is U3? There are so many different Samsung cards that advertise similar speeds (Evo, Evo+, Pro)

u/WhoShotJuandes · 2 pointsr/lgv20

Only buy MicroSD cards from Samsung with "Evo Pro" in their name. Either Evo Pro+ or Pro Select. Only buy from completely reputable sources, there are a lot of counterfeits out there, even on Amazon. Anything else and you're compromising quality, speed and efficiency.

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Select-Memory-MB-MF128DA-AM/dp/B01DOB6YUQ/

I wouldn't recommend using a card above 128gb, they're not stable enough. Remember, the bigger the capacity, the more data you're going to lose when the card fails.

The samsung Pro cards are pretty good.

> Do you have Rocket League installed on your Switch's internal storage or on the SSD?

I have Rocket League and most my other games installed to my microSD Card; I'm using this one.

> In the cases where you did not spawn into the match immediately, were you experiencing any connection issues prior to the match?

No connection issues that I can recall before or during the match once I was actually in. I don't think I have had any connection issues since switching to ethernet only within the first 2 days of playing the game. When I did have connection issues (Red Network Icon) during those first 2 days, I hadn't experienced this problem.

If you go up to the Samsung 128 Pro Select then you get 95Mbps read and 90Mbps write and its $75 or almost twice the price of the $40 one I am buying.

u/Tired8281 · 1 pointr/gpdxd

You can avoid the slowdown issue by not just buying the cheapest possible SD card (not accusing you, it's just been my experience that that is what most people do, buy the cheapest card in the size they want). There are newer, faster cards that are specifically designed for running apps off of...the newest ones are listed as "A1", but there are sufficiently fast cards before that standard was complete. I have a Samsung card that gets 60MB/s write speed (real world, not benchmark) in my phone, significantly faster than the internal eMMC storage will write.

Thanks for the info but I was referencing the Pro Select at u3. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Select-Memory-MB-MF128DA-AM/dp/B01DOB6YUQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1484754395&sr=1-2&keywords=samsung+sd+card+select
It's numbers compared to the Pro+ are identical. Are there any other differences between the Pro+ and Pro Select to consider?

u/Asaily · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Would this be a superior choice than the select?

u/norineclypse · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I was looking at the pro version (U3). [Samsung 128GB] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOB6YUQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_WT8EybM8XQVNY)

u/Andrewsarchus · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Hey, thanks for the write-up! This is very helpful! I had no idea that there was a difference between SDHC and SDXC, or what the classes meant. I'm looking at the Samsung 128GB SDXC U3 cards, and I see things like Pro+ and Pro Select, and I'm not quite sure what the difference is here, if there even is one. They both seem to be class 10, 95mbps. Any input here would be greatly appreciated!

u/detium · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Samsung Pro Select ( U3 class ) 128GB is what i got.. doesnt get much better than that.. its 75 bucks on amazon right now. seen it cheaper but decided to go for it

u/lolzfeminism · 0 pointsr/gadgets

SD cards are not a replacement for phone memory.

Top of the line $100 microSD card from Samsung has 95MB/s read and 90MB/s write speeds. Average cards have maybe 20MB/s write and 80MB/s read.

Iphone 7 128GB write speed: 350MB/s. Read speed 960MB/s.
