SRAM mrx grip shifts are compatible with Shimano. A pair is cheap.

You should buy a chain wear tool to check chain wear. If the chain is past 75% wear you may need a new cassette. I believe you have a cassette, the photos aren't from the best angle but that's what it looks like.
