Yes it's a queen from what I can tell.

It's a bit hard to see from the picture, but it could definitely be a Tetramorium sp. or possibly Pheidole sp.

If you are getting into the hobby, I strongly recommend picking up a macro lens kit for your phone. They can be found for under $20 on Amazon and really help you take amazing pictures.

I bought this one.

Here's a picture I took with it using my Galaxy S6 Edge. These ants are quite small.

I got this kit from Amazon in february http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CSJ50HY/ref=pe_62860_112709770_em_1p_0_ti (looks the same) for $12 USD, and it really works.

I mostly use the Wide-Angle and macro lenses, but the Fish-eye works very nice too with the Moto G, even with moderately thick cases.

It depends on how close you want to get. I was using this add-on lens kit with my cellphone (Nexus 5). I was able to get shots like this and this, which is impressive to me, as the Nexus 5's camera honestly sucks, even after all of the updates it's had.

I got this lens set a while ago and they're very professional feeling, actual metal and solid glass.

You should get a clip on macro lens for your phone.

Here's the one I ordered:

As far as Formcariums/outworlds go, Antscanada, Tarheelants, and Antkit are good places to start looking at them. If they're too expensive then you'll want to look into making your own.

I initially wanted to get that guy a Guinness a Cell Phone Lens Kit from Amazon but it was beyond my budget. So settled for 2x photography book instead.

Ordered here : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CSJ50HY . The only issue thus far is of you have a case on it won't necessarily get in the way but the extra distance between the lens and the phone makes the edges of the picture get a rounded effect. I use one of those rubber tpu cases that just pops on so I can just pop it off to use the extra lens.

I was using something like this. It's just a clip with a slot to screw in different lenses. It worked with my S4 in a big fat Otterbox case. As long as your camera is close enough to the edge for the clip to reach, it'll work. Check the reviews and see if anyone used one on a note 4 yet.

Unfortunately, it's not as simple as "stack 2 lenses and reap the benefits". Even if there were some FOV improvement, you'd suffer from more aberrations (e.g., chromatic aberration/fringing) and you'd likely have issues focusing. In order of image quality, you'd be better off:

  1. Using a RPi camera with a different mount, allowing you to change the lens
  2. Replacing the RPi lens (but you'd probably need to remove the original housing)
  3. Using a "wide angle" cellphone adapter (e.g., one of these)

Also, the wide angle lens option may really be a lot simpler than you might think:

I used to tape it with a gopro. Quality was good but was annoying to handle the files.

Now I use a cheaper option of a fish eye lens with my phone along with a suction cup. And now it's way easier to get instant feedback instead of having to deal with uploading huge video files. Videos are similar.
