This is absolutely false for the US. certain companies may have contracts with their authorized retailers, but it's not "against the law" to sell above the msrp they would just likely lose their license to be an authorized retailer if they didn't want them to price it as high. There's really not any other recourse that's viable. However most contracts I've dealt with only care about low prices. They couldnt care less if you price above msrp.

But if you need proof the fury x is only sold in reference model and was msrp $650 at launch yet opened at $679 on Amazon

same exact card, new for $40 cheaper on amazon

The Fury X is only $308 on Amazon.

I've seen Fury X lower than Fury now and then. This XFX Fury X from amazon, for example, is currently $460USD

Having said that, you could also hang around /r/hardwareswap and look for lightly used ones. I see over there someone selling two Fury X for $650 or $350 each. This seems like a reasonable price to pay until Vega - you can then sell the Fury and get something back, not sure how much it might go for then, but you'll pretty much be sure to get something.

u/whenjohniskill · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

In your cart, it will say $363, below the yellow checkout button, there is a visa checkout button, this will take $25 off, then you have to price match with Amazon, as the price is $308 so instead of $363 - $25, it will be $308 - $25

XFX makes the best RX480, although if your budget allows for it I would spend an extra $40~ and get a FuryX. Cooling problem solved, and you have a lot of potential down the road.

u/Wrath-X · 3 pointsr/Amd

You just missed This Fury X for 308$, Maybe look into a normal fury, This Fury was 256$ yesterday, maybe keep an eye on these 2 for a couple days, they might drop again.

Good luck.

u/Sahoash · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

The 390 is a great card, but what price are you getting it at? It doesn't seem, on Amazon at least, that you can get it for a reasonable price. So I'd recommend picking up a RX480, or maybe even a fury X at that price point.

Here's a Fury X going for $320! I actually just picked this up for myself today.

Other than that, it's a pretty solid build. I'd maybe downgrade to a 6600k if you're not going to be editing videos/streaming/modeling/etc.

I'd also maybe downgrade to a 500gb SSD and 2tb of HDD storage. But that's all up to you, there's nothing wrong about a 1tb SSD other than cost.

You may also be interested in getting a better/more flexible case. The 100r is great but you're not going to have a lot of room to customize.

u/CuddlesMcHuggy · 2 pointsr/Amd

Huh. Fury X is at $400 on amazon. Once that gets to $350, I'll probably jump and xfire it with my fury air.

u/TechNameStar98 · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

To anyone that is willing to spend 50 dollars more, you can grab a Fury X for $399.99 USD over on Amazon, just note that they are temporarily oos. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0106IJXX0/ref=sr_1_1_olp?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1468342136&sr=1-1&keywords=fury+x&condition=new

There's also currently a 290 fury x which at 1440p is around 20% behind the 1080 after recent driver updates. The seller looks alright to me.

There won't be a huge difference between these two setups, due to adaptive refresh being able to cover the hiccups of both.

Put another way, the gtx GPU/monitor offers 20% more performance for 50% more price.

But you're making the call for yourself. Just be informed.

I found this XFX R9 FURY X 4Gb for $300 after rebate. This fits in my budget well, but I am concerned with it holding up. I have been told that XFX isn't the greatest brand to deal with so I'm a little worried. Also, some of the reviews on it aren't the greatest. I've been wanting a 1070 but need it for a decent price if I'm to get it (300-~350 with some wiggle room). should I go for this fury x or wait it out, or do you experts have a better suggestion.

My goal is ultra settings on newer games, ie. Wither III and such, at 1080 with room to upgrade to a higher resolution in the future, all the while running a buttery smooth FPS. Also, I would like to be VR ready, I've noticed that the HDMI ports on the Fury X aren't 2.0, will this be a problem?

Also have been eyeing some of last gens AMD cards on eBay and such like the 390x.
All in all, there is just too many choices and that little voice in the back of my head that says I need to do ample research is driving me crazy.

Any help is appreciated

[Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/XFX-R9-FURY-4QFA-RADEON-FURY-3xDP/dp/B0106IJXX0) also has it for the same price. I just bought from them since I have 10% cashback with AMEX. They only have one left though.

u/Andretti84 · 1 pointr/Amd

Wait another 4 hour for vega presentation.
Also you might want to check Fury X. Its only $320 now with water cooling. $300 after rebate. Or you can literally buy it for $260-280 with purse.io.

So, the 1080 gets about 6 fps higher, and that is the cheapest 1080 on amazon costs $700

while a Fury X gets 6fps less but costs on amazon $530, so you pay about $170 for 6 more fps in this specific game

u/DarkBlade2117 · 0 pointsr/pcmasterrace

eh, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0106IJXX0
Also this would be about $30-$50 cheaper used.
Also your anytime soon statement is funny, it'll happen within the next 3-6 weeks. AMD plans on talking about Zen and Vega tomorrow in a livestream. Also, if you have checked your facts you would know a Fury X competes and often time beats a 1070 in DX12 and Vulkan games
