I am excite because I got new bathroom scales. I got two of the exact same, and they both give the same weights as each other! Much better than the two I had that were like 2.6 pounds off from each other. They also track changes in your weight, and know who you are if your weight changed by less than 7 pounds.

This new program I put together for myself, so far, is pretty tough. I may need to drop my 1RMs next month, or even next week. I was supposed to do 5x8 OHPs at 65%, which should be totally achievable. I managed 8, 6, 5, 4, and 5. Before that, on my 5+ set at 80%, I only got 4. So yeah, upper body is suffering on this cut. Blah.

I tried following the sub-reddits format but self-posts seem to be disabled which is why I'm posting the other deals here. The other scales on offer are the :

Ozeri ZB21-W WeightMaster with BMI and Weight Change Detection

Ozeri Rev Digital Bathroom Scale with Electro-Mechanical Weight Dial

The deal is already embedded in the link so there's no need for a coupon code. Just make sure you pick Moderna Housewares as the seller when checking out.

First off, congrats on the weight loss so far! 30-40 pounds is not trivial at all, and you should be proud of your work so far.

As for your question, at 470, your best bet is swimming, or other aquatic exercise.

You absolutely have to take care of your joints. There's no way around it. And at your current weight, the risk of injury is a real concern. You mention that your previous efforts have all been affected by this, and I'd hate to see you demoralized by another injury.

BTW, if you want a good bathroom scale that covers your weight range, the Taylor 550 goes up to 550 pounds. I have a different-model Taylor, and it works great.

How about this

I'd recommend this one, its known for being very accurate and is very affordable. Plus you can just stand on it to get your weight, no need to "tap" it with your foot first.

u/BabyBlackBear · 4 pointsr/Fitness

I like www.tdeecalculator.net and www.mytdee.com. No calculator can be totally accurate, as they all can only give you estimates. It's up to you to track your calories (with a food scale) and to track your weight and then deduce your true TDEE.

What are your goals? If you're trying to gain, always lowball it, and if you're trying to lose, always highball it. I'd probably say moderate though. Tweak as needed, and don't overthink it. The time you spend trying to get it perfect, you could be spending just doing it.

u/art3m1sm00n · 4 pointsr/loseit

I loovee mine and have bought one for both my mom and sister. It allows for multiple profiles and is the first scale I've had that gave exactly the same weight when stepping on and off 3 times in a row.

On went with this one because of the wifi connection. That way you don't have to have your phone paired with it.

u/LostInThisEmptyLife · 3 pointsr/intermittentfasting

It’s a scale I got on amazon. It’s great. I mean. It’s not going to be the greatest for measuring body fat but I can keep track of my progress.

u/ImAPopsicleAMA · 3 pointsr/loseit

Hi there!
Congrats!
So, we're the same weight. You can do it! We can both do it!
I hated going to a clinic for my weight.. It was embarrassing for me! So I searched and searched for a scale. I don't know if this is okay to post, but I thought it might help.
This scale here:
http://www.amazon.com/Jobar-International-JB5824-Extra-Talking/dp/B004EFA6G0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1408026078&sr=8-2&keywords=talking+scale

Is magical! It will weigh you. Just put it on a solid surface, like the bathroom floor. Plus it's only 28 dollars! Yes, it speaks loudly and repeats your weight twice.

It's just... so hard for me to stay motivated if I can't track my weight whenever I want. It's hard for me to figure out if what I'm doing works or not. So I bought it. I hope this helps, I know you weren't asking for it.

u/ajfoucault · 3 pointsr/fasting

Weight yourself in the morning with this: https://www.amazon.com/Health-Meter-Glass-Scale-BFM081DQ-63/dp/B004UR50ZO

after urinating.

I have an EatSmart digital scale that I got on amazon for like $20. It's really nice. It stores your previous weight so you can see the weight change and calculates percentages for you. [Here's the link.] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009G2KTCW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_tSRxybTGD37GC)

Edit: by percentages I mean percentage of weight lost since your last weigh in. It's nifty!

Sounds like it's time to get a new scale. I have just a cheap one from the grocery store, but it's been consistent. Some things I'd keep in mind when buying a new scale:

  • Make sure to get one rated for your approximate weight. If you think you could be around 400 pounds at the high end, then get one that goes up to 450 or 500 so that you have some room and you're sure it's weighing your correctly.
  • Make sure you zero/tare your scale if it's the type that needs to do that. When you get a new one it should come with instructions.
  • Weigh on a level, flat surface that is not carpeted. Always weigh in the same place.
  • Weigh at the same time of day in the same/similar type clothing/level of undress.

These will help you get more consistent results. I know that it can suck to realize that you may weigh more than you thought, but the truth is that no matter what that number is it's just one measure. If the number is higher it doesn't mean you actually gained 30 pounds in 2 weeks and it doesn't change how you look in those 2 weeks. It's just a number - one measurement of your body. Besides, this is a starting point. If you're 30 pounds up, that's 30 more pounds you can celebrate having lost at the end. You can do this - no matter what the number on that scale says.

As far as type of scale, here are some options that aren't too expensive that I found on Amazon. If I was getting a new one for your weight I'd likely pick one of these: 1 2 3 4
Just read through the reviews and see what one seems like it's got the best reviews.

> Oh and has anyone used Nokia's Body+ scale? It sounds pretty cool but like all techy stuff it costs a pretty penny...!

I have no experience with the Nokia but it seems kind of mediocre for the price, I own this basic one while my parents own this one but if you want features I don't think you could go wrong with:

u/wander_freely · 2 pointsr/loseit

Well, you could just take your measurements in specific parts of your body and use that to track to see if you see a difference over time. Most people do that in conjunction with a scale because when the scale stagnates, people will usually still see a difference in their physical measurements and that will emotionally get them through/let them know they're still getting results. I'd recommend a scale if you can swing the cost though. I haven't used this one, but on Amazon it's $13, so maybe a good starter one?

u/Hierux · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

I bought this digital scale on Amazon about 6 months ago. Slim, modern looking, and comes in either black or white. No frills and does the job well.

This one is only $13.99, and there's a 10% coupon for it. It goes up to 440 pounds, and has great reviews!

You'll definitely want to check out the stickies and browse around this forum a bit. It's pretty supportive and encouraging!

Working on fixing your eating/sleeping schedule seems to be high priority, so you might just need to force yourself to have breakfast and taper off the nighttime eating. It will help your sleep, too. (Unless you work overnights and have to be up super late.)

Check into food tracking apps like "Lose It!" or "My Fitness Pal." Just go for a few days and put all of your food in the app to see where you are calorie-wise. It will tell you how much you need to eat to lose weight.

Small steps that form permanent habits are the way to go. Keto is popular nowadays, but a lot of folks can't stick to it long term. (I certainly can't!) Start by swapping out your soda for water, and making your portion sizes smaller.

Baby steps that won't hurt is the key to long term success. If you have a serious addiction to soda, start by having one less can a day. It's all about moderation.

u/AweBeyCon · 2 pointsr/keto

THIS is the scale I got. Picked it up at Wal-Mart though for $39 I think? You program in your height, age, gender, and goal weight (can store 4 users). It then gives you weight, BF%, BMI, water%, bone mass, muscle mass, suggested caloric intake, and weeks to goal with that intake. It asks if you want to save the readings, but I don't know why. I need to re-read the manual to see if there's a feature I'm not aware of.

u/catbug64 · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I came home.
A whole new you

Thanks, and good luck.

u/ren33nay · 1 pointr/fasting

you could get one of those scales that estimate your percentage of body fat. I bought one from Greater Goods off Amazon. Every time I fast, I watch my estimated percentage of body fat go down and estimated muscle mass percentage go up.

Not a smart scale. Has worse ratings than yours, but I love it. My old scale seriously varied by 8 pounds if stepped on and off. I complained to my sister in a conversation and she gave me that 1 that she said was an extra she had. It seems to vary by a pound or so, which I view as a massive improvement. I see people in comments claiming it varies more, but that’s not my experience.

Tip - try stepping on exact same part of scale every time. I’ve noticed that helps

I was almost exactly where you are at a couple months ago. I had started to eat at a deficit but had no idea what my actual weight was since my scale only went to 400. A couple weeks into it I got weighed at the doctor's office and was right at 440. After doing some research I found this on Amazon. Bought it and haven't looked back. I was at 406 this morning.... It may seem like it is taking forever, but just stick with it.

u/SnarfinMcSnarf · 1 pointr/1200isplenty

I have this one I got off Amazon and I really like it. I haven't had any issues with it being in my bathroom and it's been extremely accurate for me. It also doesn't change when leaning forward or backward it's pretty solid. Nothing fancy but it does the job!

I picked this one.

4/5 stars on Amazon, but I haven't had any problems yet. Plus is looks nice for only $12.

u/enziarro · 1 pointr/HelpMeFind

Bummer.

Any chance this was the one you used to have? I haven't really found anything else that looks like it just does the change display...

Maybe something like this with electrical tape over all but the part of the display that shows your weight delta?

u/prevail_ · 1 pointr/loseit

It is worth it to buy a scale and I would recommed buying one with the body fat information. I love my yunmai. https://www.amazon.com/Yunmai-Scale-Body-Fitness-Composition-Monitor/dp/B01C6E2YSI/

You download the app to your phone and it tells you your water percentage, bmi, muscle mass, protein, bone mass, bmr, etc. I love being able to look at all of these statistics and knowing that I have the ability to change them as well as keeping track of my weight. I also use the scale as motivation. I would also recommend getting measuring tape and taking all of your measurements and check your measurements once a month to see how you're progressing.
