It's awful that we've gotten to the point where we have to bring our own lids to bars to avoid getting drugged.

I couldn't find anything about adjustable lids out there, but I did find this; maybe she could store it in her purse and then, after ordering, immediately dump the contents in the collapsible cup? Not sure this one comes with a lid, but I imagine it's a lot easier to find a lid for just one cup than a lid that fits many cups.

Here's a 2 liter version that I bought as a trophy, ~$30 on Amazon.

And just until you finish. One day I'd like to do it ad fundum, but Beerfest lies, the difficulty isn't the rotation (though it is important), it's ingesting 9 beers at the same damn time nonstop it's borderline painful.

October is my Märzen lager beer month, but I missed Oktoberfest this year so I have a lot of catching up to do.

In other news, I just bought this bad boy on Amazon and I can't wait for it to arrive so I can "try it out" :)

Not necessarily. Drunk me surprised sober me with a sweet new das boot glass.

I'd say an unbranded tulip and you're done. Or two. Or four. Depending on your plans and your rate/likelihood of having beer geek guests over. To the degree glasses make a difference, this shape is favored for various reasons like, surface area exposure to generate more aromatics, concentrating those aromatics with the taper, head retention for some reason, etc.

Set of 2 Spiegelau

Set of 4 Spiegelau better price

Not sure why they call it a stemmed "pilsner" glass since we're used to seeing a different, taller style of glass typically associated with pilsners, but a tulip by any other name would smell as sweet. They make them smaller, but I like this bigger version.

I have a couple of these and they're just my default for anything better than everyday beer, but realistically could be somebody's only beer glass just as easily. I've never bothered to test whether my senses are attuned enough to notice a difference vs., say, a shaker pint, but I figure it can't hurt. With these in my cabinet, I don't otherwise feel compelled to get a bunch of different shapes for different styles. Some people are glass junkies and have fun getting lots of different kinds, but if you want to one-and-done it, I think this is the one.

I think branded glasses are tawdry myself but lots of people prefer branded/painted/artsy and like to collect different ones. Luckily there are tons of branded glasses in this shape from lots of breweries if you like that better than plain.

That's one of the Stella Artois "Buy a Lady a Drink" glasses. More specifically, it's the Ethiopia design. They originally sold on Amazon for $12 but were limited, so you can't get that specific one on Amazon for a reasonable price (currently listed at $68). They come out with new designs each year though, which you can look at on the same Amazon page linked above.

Found this tall glass at Goodwill, it was someone's best man gift I guess based on the inscription I frosted out.

The mouthpiece looks like part for a lamp, I'm looking to change the grip tape with something in the same color scheme as the rest still, but she works, and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Edit: Found a link to similar glasses on Amazon if anyone wants to look for them. This is apparently a half yard glass.

I don't know what's special about those stiefel boots that make them designer boots, but you can find two-liter crystal bierstiefel's on amazon too.

Not etched, but have a patterned mold so that the harp comes out from the glass.

You can buy them Total Wine or Amazon.

Since you're the top comment at the moment, adding this here for maximum visibility. It's a trick to salvage overcarbed beer without losing any and while improving taste/experience:

  1. Buy a Weizenglass. They're usually 22 to 24 oz capacity like this. You may be able to get away with another large format glass but height is important.

  2. Tilt the glass as close to horizontal as possible, hook the top of the beer bottle at the lower rim, and then slowly tilt the beer to pour. You will be both minimizing how far the beer falls and maximizing the surface area of the beer in the glass to reduce the formation of head. Tilt the glass as necessary to prevent spilling but you should be able to pour the entire bottle in one go without having to be super slow and you'll be amazed how little head you can end up with.

  3. Degassing - Now swirl the beer while holding the glass upright. This is why a weizenglass is so useful. The narrow base prevents too much movement in the beer and you can stop when the rising head threatens to overflow. WARNING: DO NOT STIR WITH ANYTHING! Just gently move the glass in circles with the base in your palm or held close to the rim by your fingers.

  4. Wait until the head falls, but don't be afraid to gently help it with a finger/spoon.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as necessary until the beer reaches the level of carbonation you prefer. This will probably take no more than 5 to 10 minutes and 3 to 5 rounds of swirling. You can stick the glass in the fridge each time while waiting for the foam to dissipate if maintaining cool temp is important.

  6. Drink delicious, perfectly conditioned beer while promising to use proper amount of priming sugar next batch.

I'm a big fan of my spiegelau glasses. I bought the Lager Glasses and use them for pretty much everything.

I know Riedel (the famous wine stemware designer) produces a line for specialty beers. In fact i just googled and Target sells these. And Riedel, which bought out their competitor Spiegelau, also makes these.

I have a few suggestions

  1. You should drink stella out of a proper chalice for optimum taste.
  2. Don't use pre-ground pepper because pre-grinding causes the oils to evaporate. The oil is where a lot of the flavor resides, so only use fresh ground!
  3. Have you tried natural peanut butter? Jif and it's kin is heavily sweetened with sugar and/or icing sugar. Not only is it not healthy but, for many, it ruins the true flavor of peanut butter an instead turns it into candy. Try Adams Peanut Butter - they even have a no-stir variety for those who hate to stir the oil. Once you adjust to the new sweetness I would be willing to bet you will prefer the taste.
  4. Drip coffee is not the best way to get the flavor out of coffee. May I suggest you switch to a French Press which will produce better coffee and without the need of paper filters or power.
  5. Undermount sinks tend to look much better than overmount sinks. Also, white sinks are a bit passé.
  6. That knife looks like it's part of a cheap set, but I could be wrong. What you have there is likely a 18/0 or maybe 18/8. You will find that 18/10 (chromium/nickle) will serve you best in the long term both in strength and corrosion resistance! Source

While drinking: BBQ. It's important to note, here in North Carolina, BBQ is pork, always pork. And BBQ is a noun, not a verb. One does not BBQ, one eats BBQ. Drinking a quality beer or whiskey while the pig is in the smoker: Heaven.

While drunk Bread. For some reason I crave bread when drunk. Maybe I subconsciously think it's soaking up all of the booze. Weird, i know.

Wish I could say I'm soooo drunk right now...but it's 2pm on a Monday, and that kind of thing is generally frowned upon.

Speaking of geting drunk at inappropriate times, this folding pint glass is pretty awesome.

As for me BEER! ;D

You had Cheerieos!!!

What about a set of whiskey stones, since you enjoy scotch and whiskey. They're useful, don't take up much space, and will definitely help maximize the experience. And while there's only one copy of this game, it looks pretty cool, and suited to a lot of your interests! And while you probably don't need these pint glasses, why the heck not?

Happy belated birthday! And thanks for the contest.

I've got a couple of those as well. They're lightweight and durable.

I use these at place where glass is not allowed. They are plastic and hold a pint. They come in a four pack, so there's some to share if you pack the box with you. They aren't insulated, but they are shapely.

I think you should celebrate it in style with a horde of friends

This one is great. Also the normal Pils glass from them.

If you're trying to make a great presentation it's nice to have the right traditional glass, but the Spiegelau "pilsner" glasses are great all-around glasses.

u/tentacular · 0 pointsr/Homebrewing

That looks difficult to drink out of without spilling all over yourself. The rim is fucking huge! I'd rather drink out of a glass 1L stein if I wanted to drink out of a big fucking stein.

Awesome job, though. How do you clean it? Do you know what kind of finish it has on it? Is there any upkeep (reapplying oil or something)?
