My best friend and I did Keto Thanksgiving last year! Here is what we made:

  • Turkey with gravy (thickened with xanthan gum)
  • Cauli mash
  • Seared brussels sprouts with bacon
  • Spaghetti squash gratin
  • Cornbread stuffing (using this mix )
  • Pumpkin cheesecake

Here is a link to the Keto Thanksgiving thread from last year! Links to the recipes I used, and my personal feedback on how it all went, plus everyone else's ideas and recipes!

Looks like Amazon has it: Good Dee’s Corn Bread Baking Mix - Grain Free, Sugar Free, Gluten Free, Wheat Free, and Low Carb,7.5 Oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DK7RVG1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Tji6Bb3KV5YXS

When you get to your goal weight, you can eat stupid once a week and be just fine. You'll feel much better when you're at that point. It sucks for a solid month or two. After that, you're good. They even make low carb tortillas and low carb bread nowadays. But don't be eating this bullshit until you're past the induction phase. Stick with the meat, vegetables (no starches) and water. If you want alcohol, drink Vodka or Red Wine, but know that when you drink alcohol, your body will burn that first before burning fat, so try to stay away from alcohol when you can.

So I’ve been using chebe cheese bread mix to make pizza. It gives you a much more consistent result.

https://i.imgur.com/X031Llf.jpg

I started using their pizza crust mix and it’s even better as it has some herbs in there to give it an extra Italian flavor.

Pro tips:

  • when using either chebe mix don’t overdo the cheese. Sharp cheddar is best.
  • mix all the ingredients (except for the chebe mix) in a bowl first. Measure exactly. Only use a handful of cheese. Definitely use cheese even though the pizza crust mix says its optional.
  • add half the mix into the ingredients and mix thoroughly with a fork.
  • add the rest and get your hands in there and fold it all carefully until most of the mix is incorporated.
  • fold it and squish it against the bowl to pick up as much of the mix as you can as it’s a very fine powder and gets kinda stuck.
  • take the lump of dough and kneed it thoroughly. Get it to a nice even consistency.
  • take a circular pizza pan and grease it completely with a stick of butter.
  • take your dough ball and flatten it in the middle and slowly work it out towards the edges and try to get it to a nice even flatness
  • par bake at 425 for 7 minutes
  • remove, flatten, and add sauce, not too much as it will make the pizza soggy
  • add toppings
  • bake for 9 minutes
  • enjoy

We use a challah mold with Glutino's My Favorite Sandwich Bread. It comes out very nicely.

We had 100 lbs overnighted from this company still alive and everything.

edit: thanks for the gold! Don't forget: throw in some brats, halved cloves of garlic, onions, potatoes, corn, and mushrooms. Also, a few pans of my personal favorite cornbread won't hurt anybody either.

One more thing occurred to me. If you guys are ovo-lacto vegetarians, I bet she would love some pão de queijo (a very cheesy bread). You can buy a mix from amazon, which might not be ideal but will do in a pinch: http://www.amazon.com/Cheese-Bread-250g-GLUTEN-FREE/dp/B00563VAD2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1332965165&sr=8-4

Oh god, what's wrong with me? I've liked all the tacky things in this thread so far. I think it will be hard to top this one though: redneck beer bread

I tried making bread from scratch for several years. Never mastered it.

The Gluten-Free Pantry Favorite Sandwich Bread Mix always produces relatively high, long-lasting loafs: http://www.amazon.com/Gluten-Free-Pantry-Favorite-Sandwich-22-Ounce/dp/B000EVG8H4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1321161211&sr=8-2

I use probably at least a loaf a week. Just toss the package into my Zojirushi bread machine and take it out in a couple hours. Nothing to it.

You can order the brown bread on Amazon, or you can try making it yourself.

You might like to get some Fluff and make fluffernutters.

If there's a seafood place in your area where you can buy lobster, you might consider making your own lobster rolls. If you're not comfortable cooking a live lobster, you can usually get the shop to steam it for you. The basics are lobster meat, white hot dog buns, and butter. Try this.

For sure! A product called Chebe has been a lifesaver. It is mostly tapioca ("manioc") flour, I think it has some cream of tartar or something else too.

I use the general mix according to the directions on the box, but I do my own thing once the dough is mixed up.

One batch of dough on one cookie sheet will make a thinner crispier pizza that still won't snap if you fold it, thin but not like a cracker.

One batch on a 14" round pizza pan will give you a more chewy and slightly thicker crust.

Follow the directions on the box, but use a tiny bit less water than they say. Only add it if the dough refuses to pick up residual flour in your mixing bowl. It should be sticky but not "wet" when it goes in the pan.

Once the dough is mixed, oil your pan and press the dough in. It's forgiving, so you can manhandle it and smack it around until it's uniform in thickness with a slight dip at the middle. Just make sure there is dough everywhere and no bare spots and you'll be fine.

Bake the crust at 350 with nothing on it for 7 minutes. Pull it out, and slide the whole thing off the pan back into the oven directly on the rack for 8 more minutes. Then pull it out, set the oven to 450, top the pizza, and pop it in whenever. I never time the next part, watch it after 10 minutes for the right level of cheese-browning that you like. I let mine get brown all over.

Its a great mix of textures, crispy and chewy. And it even reheats well!

Pics or it didn't happen.

Edit: dein Kollege meinte wohl sowas: https://www.amazon.com/Pepperidge-Farm-Cinnamon-Swirl-Bread/dp/B0043O1I46 aber keine Ahnung ob man das in DE kaufen kann...

They sell the cheesy bread dough in a box. You just add water and eggs, roll into balls, and pop 'em in the oven for 25 mins.

No shit so many keto options I cook now will still be used when I'm off keto. The Atkins bread kits on amazon will still be a weekly bake as it's just that damn good.
Cauli mash is superior to potato.
No sugary drinks or desserts. Just so much low fat low carb/sugar alternatives exist that are so much more healthy than smashing down 150+ carbs in one meal

This is going to be fun. Across my multiple wishlists...

1.) Something that is grey.
Grey bedsheets.

2.) Something reminiscent of rain.
Pet water fountain.

3.) Something food related that is unusual.
Astronaut Ice Cream

4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!)
This Bruins banner is for my BFF Becky. She loves the Bruins more than anything. Hockey is her obsession. I put it on my list to remind myself to get it for her at some point. It would make her happy.

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it!
The Name of the Wind. Of everything I've read in the past 6 months, this one I devoured and have been desperate for the second book in (it's on my list to pick up this week, actually, if my paycheck EVER comes in).

Look, I hate... HATE... first person perspective. I see it as a sign of sloppy writing. However, this book had me SOLD on it. Kvothe is possibly one of my new favorite characters OF ALL TIME.

Avid reader doesn't even begin to describe me. I have my own library. I need books like air. And if I had to make a list of 100 books that were all I was allowed to have for the rest of my life, THIS WOULD BE ON IT.

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related!
This kindle book

7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...)
The most interesting cat toy in the world

8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it.
This choker. Enough said.

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why?
The Breakfast Club Why? Because. It's a good movie. Whether you were the jock, the brain, the spoiled brat, the loser, or the troublemaker-- there's a character you can identify with, and it shows that whatever and whoever you are, you can get along with someone who isn't in your clique.

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain.
A Seed Vault

Everyone worries about fighting zombies.

Dumb. You see, when the zombies come, I'm holing up. A few weeks and if they are undead, they'll have rotted themselves to death. If they are fast moving, viral sumbitches, then they'll have likely ended up offing themselves through dehydration or whatever.

In any event, I'll wait them out. But then, I will need to rebuilt and eat.

(Besides, I have my trusty zombie-killing baseball bat, and a bow. Quiet. Efficient.)

11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals.
This book on Aztec and Inca expansionism. I'm back in school, and my focus is Mesoamerican Studies. Eventual degrees, here I come!

12.) One of those pesky Add-On items.
Zucchini seeds.

13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why?
A KitchenAid Mixer Why? I like to cook and bake. My mother has one that I used for years when I was a kid and still living with her. I'm 30 now. I remember she got it when I was like, 5. IT STILL WORKS. Over a dozen moves, being abused for holidays making bread and cookies and cakes, being used by my Dad (I swear, he looks at appliances and they break) and it STILL FUNCTIONS PERFECTLY.

I cannot think of a kitchen appliance that would be more useful.

14.) Something bigger than a bread box. EDIT A bread box is typically similar in size to a microwave.

This loft bed

15.) Something smaller than a golf ball.
How about 7 somethings? A set of dice.

16.) Something that smells wonderful.
Italian Herb Bread Mix It smells good when you open the box. When it's mixed. While it's rising. While it bakes. After it bakes. As you've slathered butter on it and begin to nom.

17.) A (SFW) toy.
Hawkeye is so SFW I would bring him in to put on my desk.

18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school.
This book, of course.

19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be.
Funko Tyrion Lannister because even a small man can cast a great shadow.

20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand.
This.

No one will understand the magnificence of this plushie.

It is a rotund, cuddly, snuggly Cthulhu.

But Cthulhu does not cuddle. He does not care. When the stars are right, he will rise from the deeps and from his seat Ry'leh, devour his cultists-- and everyone else-- by the millions, and bring forth an end to all things.

But how can you deny his Elder God wrath? HOW?! Look at him, all squishy and warm and soft. Look at his little T-Rex arms, reaching out for your love and devotion. His eyes, his wiggly little face tentacles. YOU MUST SNUGGLE HIM.

Definitely going to check it out.

Though as an alternative I tried this as a free sample from my local nutrition store place, and I found this really tasty. They didn't have it to buy for yourself at that time, but I might order it from amazon.

I got it from Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BU8SM60/ref=cm_sw_r_apap_bj8peDksBFrfU

It tastes really good but it's a bit on the chewy side. I recommend toasting.

This bread mix is AIP by itself. The cooking instructions call for eggs and cheese for the original bread recipe. You could omit the cheese and substitute gelatin eggs. It might be a good mix to start sourdough experimenting. I can usually find individual boxes at my local grocery store near the alternative flours section in the baking isle. I’m in the US.

Never mind that bread for time-immemorial is centrally gluten. Gluten comes from wheat flours when you knead it. Strictly the very same proteins that become gluten from mechanical effects are always there and are in all wheat!

Those big bubbles in sour dough bread - only with gluten.

Most risen bread bubbles - only with gluten.

Want to know what non-gluten bread looks like? Communion wafers, matzo or pita bread, or solid breads like banana bread, or certain types of heavy nordic/germanic/slavic breads like B&M Brown Bread in a Can

Hell, you can buy gluten by the 10-pound to add to your home-made bread - it makes bread "normal" without the effort of having to knead the dough into gluten so much. Most commercial, mass-produced breads don't rely only on kneading and take this short cut.

Honestly anyone serious about skipping glutens in bread should only be making their own bread from scratch. Of course the first thing they will discover: it's not going to taste as nice as the glutenated stuff and it actually takes some modicum of effort which is probably too much work for these scumbags.

Morons like this need to be put in camps! Their stupidity is a threat to others the rest of society.

Krusteaz Gingerbread Mix You can probably buy smaller boxes of this at your local store. The large boxes are sold by restaurant supply stores.
