Are you talking about those silver chains with a hoop? I searched "belt chain" on Amazon and that brought up some similar results. Some guy said his was a dog chain from a pet store, lol.

Someone posted this fit today. Is this what you're looking for? I think you could possibly buy this on Amazon and add another lobster clasp if you wanted to so you can secure it to a belt loop. It would hang off like how the original poster wore theirs.

I bought a similar style from a store called Mixxmix which is a Korean online women's clothing store. The shipping is kinda high and not worth it for a chain if that's all you're planning on buying. Plus, it's sold out anyway. Not sure if it'll ever be restocked.

Edit: Nvm, I was thinking of something totally different. I was working on my comment before I saw rockingbarbarian's comment, haha. Oops.

This is only my second project, first time making my own pattern, my dad has been an electrician for around 33 years, and I'm sure his ohm meter and pouch is just as old, the old pouch looked like it was made of some kind of leather and cloth mix and it was just so worn the threads ripped it all apart, so I made this out of the thickest leather I could find locally.

As for tools and hardware, I'm not 100% familiar with everything I used but it's 7-8 ounce tooling leather from hobby lobby, the screw on fasteners are 1/4 inch long also from hobby lobby, the buckle is just a metal backpack buckle I found on Amazon I've linked it in the bottom. As for tools I basically just used an all, and sewing needles from Walmart!

Could buy some buckles and webbing and make your own compression straps

The water bottle pockets are big, you can fit 2 x 1 litre smartwater bottles in each. The straps slip in use, but it's fixable. I don't think anything is missing, I use either a semi inflated sleeping pad, or a CCF pad to give it some rigidity, but it works without it too.

Kiwis and Aussies are allowed to mock each other, but we'll stick up for on5r another if anyone else dares challenge our ekcents!

Re packing cubes, understood about the weight, there's a few Indiegogo/Kickstarter projects that have made a meal of compression bags, heavy, bulky and reports of faulty too. But take a look at the range produced by Eagle Creek, their PackIt compression bags are very good! What would make their compression bags better? Mesh, grip tabs to help with the opening/closing of zippers, bright colours on the inside but that minimalist black minaal look on the outside wink , that's just off the top of my head.

As for the clasps, this is the type i referred to, the ones that can twist by 360degrees. But these can also be weak points if poorly designed

Either cut the long strap and re-sew it at a more adjustable length, or replace that buckle with a ladder lock style, which will let the excess hang out the back. Something like this, but sized appropriate to your strap width: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0734X91FR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_02CZBbRG6MK6E

Edit: or just fold it over and use two safety pins parallel to the fold (vertical) to lock it in place. Poke in and poke out on the same side so it's not rubbing against your head.

Amazon. Here is a list of a few things I have bought from various vendors on Amazon. I tend to buy most of my supplies from Amazon unless I need it right away. The only I haven't bought online is thread because I like to see the colors in person.

Magnetic Snaps

Heavy Cotton Webbing I also bought some PolyPro webbing from them.

Zippers I bought 7 inch and 12 inch

Swivel clips and D rings

Not sure if you’d be interested or not, but these pop barrel connectors are great for lanyard setups like yours.

there are better pictures of what this is here https://www.pinkcherry.com/sports-cuffs-tethers-kit

to make two you would need about 100" of webbing 1" or 3/4 for 50" for each. Sew one end to make a loop. 2 key chain rings (one for each end of the straps)
then a triglides probably with tension locks like this

or buy webbing and this kit. plus snap hooks.

I've bought from this vendor for making something similar. it could be the cats meow if you needed a bunch of these. I preferred cam locks over the triglide. Look at pricing If i remember, buying 4 pcs of something for a dollar or two more you could get 25 pcs. Same went for the webbing if you break it into a cost per yard, and a reel longer to a point would get more expensive.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0747NKVQJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_Z7gPBb5W9CHTN. The piece you want is called a triglide slide. Depending on the width, this should get you fixed up. They are cheaper if you go with plastic.

u/Mrs_partyrocq · 1 pointr/festivals

Display them on your festival pack! If you can get them off with out having to cut them, smash the plastic piece off so just the tails are hanging. You can buy cheap clips like these and sew them on. That way you can wear them again if you want or do like a lot of DJ's and other festival goers do and display them on your back pack/ camelbak!

I know they’re available on Etsy from a few sellers.
This is the strap ring I used. It works fine, but if you’re ordering parts off Etsy you should be able to get one sized specifically for the Quest.

u/Morejazzplease · 1 pointr/Ultralight

Actually I starting using a triglide on the webbing so it is adjustable. 3/8" works perfectly. These: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00USQ172Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You can buy those at most fabric/craft stores in the "notions" section. You'll have to use a seam-ripper (cheap at craft stores too) to remove the stitches holding the buckle on. Then replace it and restitch it. Shouldn't take you more than a couple hours by hand. With a machine your setup/teardown time will be longer than the actual work.
