The cable clamps aren't things that Best Buy actually sells, just no charge parts we use in installs. Your local Home Depot/Lowe's should sell them or you can get them off of Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Clamp-pack-inch-Black/dp/B0054RRXZ4

Just to add to this, I got some velcro straps (like these) that have come in handy in similar situations. Mostly I use them to compress down my socks and underwear, or jackets, within the packing cube to save space.

Looks great. However, I was always under the impression that you should use waxed lacing tape for electrical as zip ties can, when pulled too tight, cut into the cable.

> Not so much tangled as the cord gets stuck in places and gets weighed down off the backside of the table.

You can solve that problem with these things. Easy to hide them and it relieves gravitational tension.

That's a magnetic phone mount for a car dash. It comes with 3M adhesive on the back of it, but it cannot sit flush as the back of the DAS is curved. To solve this, I peeled off the 3M, unscrewed the back of the mount, and threaded a Velcro cable tie through it, then closed it up. Looks clean and wraps securely around the DAS. I put an adhesive metal plate (the kind you can get for the back of your phone) on my battery pack so it magnetizes to the mount. It's all makes for a strong hold that's easy to remove.

This is what it looks like put together

Edit: Here is the mount on Amazon Reminder, I modified it with Velcro cable tie similar to something like these by unscrewing the back, placing the Velcro tie in, and screwing back together.

Dude? Have you not seen these straps and ties and/or the Horror Fraught equivalent?

But also, get a freaking headlamp.

Like others have said, you just need outdoor cable rated for UV exposure.
You can buy bulk (terminate yourself) or buy ready made cable.
That cable you linked to will do the job just fine but 50 bucks for 50 feet is a bit over the top if you ask me.

But let's talk terminology a little bit:
Cat rating defines the performance of the cable. Cat5E for example is good for 100 meters at 1Gbit/s. Or Cat6 unshielded does 10Gbit/s for 55 meters.
And about the Cat7 not "meeting the standard", it is ISO standard cable. However TIA doesn't "recognize" it as a standard hence the people yelling.
x/yTP designates the shielding, x is the overall shield, y is the individual shield and TP stands for Twisted Pair (not toilet paper). As for shielding types, there are three letters, U/S/F. U stands for unshielded, S stands for braided shielding and F stands for foiled shielding. So for example S/FTP would stand for overall braided shielding with individual pairs shielded with foil.
U/UTP is completely unshielded and it's perfectly fine for most installations unless you

  • run the cable right next to a powerful electric motor
  • alongside powerlines
  • past fluorescent tubes
  • another house/building on different circuit/earth (earth potential)

You don't need Cat6 so don't pay extra for it. Direct burial not necessary either as you're not burying it.. Getting a Cat6 cable and/or direct burial doesn't hurt anything, it will work just as well. I'm just a person who doesn't like to waste money on something that doesn't benefit me or is something I actually need.
    Here's one option, Cat5E | U/UTP Outdoor | Waterproof | Above Ground | UV Rated, 50ft under 20bucks
    https://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Waterproof-Cat5e-Ethernet-Cable/dp/B0078GZNG0/
According to Amazon review it uses this bulk cable "vertical 4001453 utp" (PDF)

Edit: While you're at it, might want to consider buying some cable clamps to make the cable run neat.
    Like this for example
https://www.amazon.com/Inch-UV-Black-Cable-Clamp/dp/B0054RRXZ4/ (there's also "natural" color available e.g. translucent and it's UV protected as well)

I have cats and as a result I discovered that box bands are not great. What are great are velcro straps. They also do 10 foot long rolls that you can cut to length.

u/ddaug4uf · 3 pointsr/amazonecho

I have tried both and for me the Roav Viva is just a more integrated feel. You don’t have to have a cord to power a Dot and a cord to charge your phone. I plug my phone into the Roav Viva and used these inexpensive clips to run my lightning cable directly to my phone mount. It has a very natural feel to it and I don’t have to have a Dot mounted to the dash or use up a cup holder for it.

u/bluesharpies · 3 pointsr/battlestations

For the stuff on your desk, you can try cable clips that you stick on your desk (like these ones on Amazon. They don't entirely solve your issue but give your cables some semblance of order instead of everything just lying around.

For the cables coming off your tower, maybe tie them together with a larger cable tie and give the cables some slack if possible so they're all held together and pointing down (before curving back up behind your monitors) instead of leaving them all dangly and diagonal like that. If you don't have the cable length then I'm afraid I don't have many suggestions apart from moving the tower down to the floor or your desk

u/Hamsmelly · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

cable clips and cable sleeves made it all possible. The rest is just hiding the excess.

u/EvilGhandi · 3 pointsr/whatisthisthing

A spool of flat waxed twine. Sometimes called waxed lacing tape.

Oh, yeah, the 3' cables work great, too. Tested... full 3.0 data rate from their and 12W from the C to C and the A to C cables and they are also pretty durable. I just like the 6' 2.0 cable to keep the power brick out of sight.

And while I'm nerding out, I use these little magnet holders to keep the charging cable on the nightstand (or desk) when it isn't in use. And I keep a huge capacity battery with type C and A in my laptop bag for extended day use and long haul flights. Man, I sound like a shill for Anker...

u/kpanda12 · 2 pointsr/Surface

I just got a 3 pack of these, large size. Kinda cool... And you don't have to wrap the cord too tightly since it has those little ... arms?

I also got these to finish the job when I'm carting my stuff around in a backpack. There are 3 sizes and for each size, and one end wraps securely around the cord so that it stays on even when the cord is unraveled.

>and stapling it all the way down

DO NOT STAPLE IT

Find some wire clips to hold it in place.

u/TylerPT · 2 pointsr/simracing

Yeah, the seller didn't mention that and I didn't know :(

I ended up using double-sided velcro tape but since I bought it as a quick fix it's a bit on the thin side.

I guess the original strap is something like this?

I swear I bought these for their original intention, but I got curious one day lol

u/RuinousRubric · 1 pointr/Monitors

Tape or screw the power strip to the bottom of the desk and add cable trays (I have these) to the bottom of the desk so you have somewhere to tuck any extra length. Use cable clips of some sort (like these or these or these) to keep cable runs tidy and in place. If you have cables that you need to bundle together or keep folded, use reusable cable ties like this and avoid using zip ties since they're single-use and can damage cables if they're over-tightened.

If you have cables that you might want to remove from time to time, like for peripherals, then you should avoid bundling them with everything else. Might seem obvious, but I thought I'd throw it out there since I've made that mistake before with my keyboard and mouse.

Hope this helps.

u/MainHaze · 1 pointr/gaming

I bought some of these guys. Still have some left, but will definitely get more if the need arises.

Thanks! I won't be going with the powerline.

Could you please share a link for good cable channels? Before you commented, I bookmarked these cable clamps -- is that the same idea as your cable channel option?

this is 2.49 with free shipping

2.37!

u/DoomRyGuy · 1 pointr/desksetup

Ah see what you mean.

At first I was going to recommend a usb hub or port replicator but I dont think that would really solve anything. I think your best bet for managing your cables would be to use cable organizers. It should neaten up your desk a bit.

Perhaps use one of these up top and on the sides of your desk.

Then on the bottom for any excess you can try these cablox things. They are a bit pricey so, if you want to go the budget route, you can always use the adhesive squares along with zip ties to mount the cables under your desk.

Hope that helps a bit. Good luck.

I would 3M a bunch of something like this to the underside of of it.

EDIT: that's also way cheaper than others I've seen online. How well does it work?

u/ftctkugffquoctngxxh · 1 pointr/Vive

Personally I used velcro straps to tie it to my desk's leg.

3m command strip clips will be good for routing and won't damage the wall:
http://www.amazon.com/Command-Cord-Clips-4-Clip-5-Strip/dp/B00006IBLM

u/PuterPro · 1 pointr/CR10

Just a thought, but to tidy up the cables you can also use these 3M clips, they fit the rails just right:

https://smile.amazon.com/Command-Cord-Clips-4-Clip-5-Strip/dp/B00006IBLM

They don't work well outdoors (despite 3M's claims) but work great indoors.

Not sure how they'd fair in a hot enclosure, I haven't made mine yet, but so far OK at normal room temps ...
