Mine are always in their bag. Keeps the dust out and since I don't leave the house anymore without a camera it makes getting out the door just a little quicker.

Edit: as for a good starter bag, I'm not sure. I used this bag for the first year or two and it served me well even though I eventually had to put some MFD on the bottom to help it retain it's shape but I wouldn't recommend it for the simple fact it says Nikon on it and that might catch the eye of someone looking to knick it for a quick profit. I switched off to an old Quantaray bag I found at the thrift shop that looks more like a lunch box than anything else and feel much more comfortable with it.

If you're just starting out with ND filters, I'd suggest choosing a lower end kit of ND filter just to see if LE photos are something you enjoy doing. For instance something like these!

If (and when :p) you find out you'll like Long Exposure photography, then I would strongly suggest investing in a higher quality set (think Lee Filters :).

There are tons of different makes and models on the market as you know .. but from a "best bang for buck" POV ... no sense breaking the bank for something you haven't yet had the opportunity to try out.

u/cia1120 · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'd really like this cactus collection...said no one ever... but me. I want them because I feel like I need a plant in my office, and I know I wont kill those. They'll look cool, and they wont die if I forget to water them for a few days.

Or this camera bag because my current one is shit, and my ex husband stuck country patches all over it, and it looks...... sad and unprofessional. Bah.

Prop Guards: There's lots of pros and cons. Frankly, I don't use them as I feel the cons far outweigh the pros. There's plenty of YouTube vids and Google hits if you want to see these reasons and then decide for yourself.

2nd battery is absolutely necessary. Who wants a 15 minute flight and then done? Especially if ever going to do real estate photography or the like. I have three and sometimes wish I had four.

Other accessories: I would absolutely buy some filters including ND for your lens is you want to get better photos and vids. THIS is a good set.

I bought this little kit awhile ago and love it https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYGRTNO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

to this day the only filters I use are the CPL, UV, and zoom (macro) filters.

I only bought this since it was cheaper that most kits out there, the reviews were good, and for someone like me who is constantly learning about photography and didnt want to spend a fortune on higher end equipment just yet it fit the bill.

I have a dedicated macro zoom lens coming in the mail now that will negate the zoom filters I use at the moment.

Here is my tool Box that I purchased to hold everything. --Pics of my setup, below is every individual item. Scroll Down to look at everything http://imgur.com/a/nXkHq

Here is the case I purchased for the mavic and its controller. This case fits nicely in the tool box. https://www.amazon.com/Philonext-Foldable-Controller-Transmitter-Hardshell/dp/B06XDQJD7C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504231058&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=Mavic+Pro+Case+Controller+Case&psc=1
I had one of these, it works awesome. It holds ALL cables, Chargers, AND batteries. Also fits nicely in the tool box. https://www.amazon.com/BUBM-Electronic-Accessories-Organizer-Earphone/dp/B071JNSNSQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1504231157&sr=1-4&keywords=wire+organizer+Bag+BUBM
I must explain everything I keep in the case in case you are wondering what that weird thing is.
Tablet Holder for Controller https://www.amazon.com/SKYREAT-Upgraded-Tablet-Bracket-Controller/dp/B01N5KIXG9/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1504231262&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=Mavic+Pro+Tablet+Holder&psc=1
Landing pad -- Not needed, but I love it. It keeps my mavic off the dirt/ground. It also helps the go home feature by having something identifiable by the drone, so it knows where to land. https://www.amazon.com/landing-Quadcopter-Helicopter-compatible-Fast-Fold/dp/B06XFVG132/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1504231302&sr=1-4&keywords=Mavic+Pro+Landing+Pad
BTW, Be careful on the filters you choose if you want filters. The filters that I purchased the first go around were to thick and caused gimbal failures. I then purchased these from a suggestion from a reddit user and it works like a charm. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WW7YW5G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I DID purchase a range extender, and sun shade, but I shouldn't have. There are a LOT of tall trees where I live... So the range did not improve with this product. IF you live in an area like the desert or lots of farm land, I think this product would work ok. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072M9KZQZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The gimbal lock and cover was a little stupid, being in two pieces and all, so I purchased this which works great. https://www.amazon.com/CrazyOwl-Mavic-Gimbal-Camera-Protector/dp/B0751BTHDB/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1504231622&sr=8-4&keywords=Mavic+Gimbal+Lock+and+Cover

As far as I know, PolarPro make the best ND filters for the Mavic Air -- I have a set and they look great.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079C2CQN2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you are looking for something cheaper, I also have these F Stop Labs ND filters and they seem just as good (to my untrained eye):

u/djjinksy · 2 pointsr/Multicopter

I have Dominator SE's, which have the same 50 degree FOV as your HD2's, and I just put these lenses on all of my HS1177 cams. Wider view than a 2.8 lens, not quite as wide as 2.1, but with little to no distortion. No fisheye, etc. The rear aperture is also larger, so more light hits the imager in the cam. Give one a try!

These ones work great for me w/my Mavic Air (though I need an ND32/CPL for when it's really bright):

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079JXJTVG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But I'm not a professional photographer so I didn't opt for the high-end ones, as I probably can't tell the difference.

u/AnonymoustacheD · 2 pointsr/dji

These 32 and 64 nd’s are much cheaper and many reviews say they’re just as good as polar pro. For an extra $15 you can get a set that includes them and the same nd but with polarized rings FSLabs DJI Mavic Air Lens filters ND32, ND64, Mavic Air Accessories 4K Camera Lens Multi-coated Filters Pack ND 32 & ND 64 (2 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B9XDX4P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_A2ScBbJ4H6CEW

u/Intuit_KO · 2 pointsr/djiphantom

Nice. Try getting a polarizer lens. I think you might enjoy some of the results: https://www.amazon.com/PolarPro-DJI-Phantom-Filter-3-Pack/dp/B017BCM0NY?th=1

These are things i bought when i got my Mavic that I love.

This charger - https://www.amazon.com/Grounded-Powerextra-Platinum-Intelligent-Batteries/dp/B06X94L9P7/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1543403265&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=mavic+pro+charger&psc=1

Able to charge all 3 batteries at the same time as well as usb ports for phone and remote.

Lipo bag for carrying batteries when travelling. I also charge in these for safety.

ND filters - i use these SandMarc ones

I'd love an ND1000 filter for some long exposure photos

This is a minor $10 but this gimball holder and cover is much easier than the fiddly one that comes with the drone.

https://www.amazon.com/Teenitor-Gimbal-Unique-Design-Combines/dp/B071S1V8ZL/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1543403390&sr=8-13&keywords=mavic+pro+gimbal

hope this helps.

Someone recommended this to me:

https://www.amazon.com/Haida-Filter-Holder-Samyang-14mm/dp/B012BH5U0E

I'm guessing this is the way I should go? Plus I also like that I'll be able to use the 150mm filters with other kits relatively easily.

u/mightymig · 2 pointsr/photography

If you own a 24-105L lens from canon, the adaptor ring size you want is 77mm. You also want the foundation holder and whatever filter from lee you want to use that will fit into the holder.

u/post_break · 2 pointsr/gopro

The CRT is incredibly bright, similar to shining a flash light directly into your eyes. Put on some sunglasses and it's not as bad. You can also tell the GoPro to underexpose the image.

This plus this nets you both ND and polarizing filters. I have both, and they work great, for the price you can experiment with both.

https://www.amazon.com/Vivitar-Close-Up-Macro-Filter-Pouch/dp/B004E580PO these are basically what I got, except my sizing is 52mm. They have a ton of options for various sizes and they're pretty cheap! I love mine :D

u/iynque · 1 pointr/thingsforants

I just tried using this to attach this to this, and it kind of… worked. I could take a macro photo with my phone from about six inches away, instead of the normal one-inch-or-so distance…

So. That's neat I guess.

u/jmtamere · 1 pointr/fujifilm

I got one couple of months ago and bought this: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B004OVE174

Not sure it’s 100% necessary but given price of the lense vs filter, better safe than sorry IMO.

u/unrealkoala · 1 pointr/photography

I just bought the stupidly expensive Lee Holder because the one at The Filter Dude was out of stock. I also picked up a wide angle adaptor and then the 105 accessory ring to mount my CPL.

u/sta015 · 1 pointr/flashlight

Haha Instagram is a little different than Snapchat. But hey, get both 😅. If you want to step up your aerial photography game, get you a set of polarized ND filters. It'll help you make better photos in bright sunlight and reduce glare — especially when dealing with water. Polar Pro makes some of the best ones, but I've had no issues with my cheaper ones from Fstop Labs.

I just went for the Shutter Collection we get lots of frost but only a bit of snow now and again, I shot this earlier in the year with the 16 and 8.

Edit* Took this Pano today about 7am was quite frosty, had the 8 on

If you're looking for cheap and reliable neutral density filters, I just bought these and they work great. Not as perfect as a "real" filter but it does a pretty good job

I've only worked with go pros on one job, but I was able to set the exposure manually and use ND filters like these to get the shutter speed where I wanted it. Overall, though, I've never been able to get footage I really liked out of a go pro.

Here's a quick video on why you might want to be mindful of your shutter speed.

Just for fun, check out this video about climbing. Obviously this is more of a narrative than you were going for, but it's still useful to look at the variety of shots they use to tell the story and how they tie it all together in a similar amount of time.

Good luck! I don't know what your budget is for a new camera but I recommend the Sony a6300 or a7s/a7sii if you can afford it. Incredible cameras. Here is another one minute video posted to r/videography today that was filmed on the a6300 and a great example of good footage and variety of shots.

u/F1R3STARYA · 1 pointr/snowboarding

Would this be a good one? I have a Hero 7 Black.

u/santorin · 1 pointr/photography

I had to pick up one of these a couple months ago to unscrew my stuck screw-on CPL. It's the second time that's happened and it has definitely started putting me off screw-on filters.

u/Pielo · 1 pointr/ExposurePorn

Just got myself a whole set of ND filters. I love taking exposure shots.
This is what set I got if anyone was curious..

u/T0NYDARK0 · 1 pointr/AskPhotography

To be honest, that’s just the one I heard about so I bought that one. Plus, I’ve also read that it’s the one you should get if you’re not planning on using a telephoto lens.

Last time I checked, they were around the same price. I got ordered my XS-pro for about $85 on Amazon.

Recently realized that my 2013 Retina MBP has soldered memory, so I can't upgrade it.

I have ~$1,500 to find an upgrade. I could go with this beast for a Windows machine, or I know someone that is selling a 2015 Retina MBP with a 512 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, and a GTX 970M. The MSI laptop's video card is ~600% better. But it's not a Mac...

Also, I'm looking for some new goodies for my Sony a6000.

  1. Filters:
    This drop-in, this drop-in?
    or
    circular?

  2. Which wired remote works with a6000?

  3. Which tripod <$100 that will get under 12" close to ground at minimum height, and with center pole bottom mount?

So for that specific lens you are limited a bit. The filter holder for this lens is here: Haida 150 Series Filter Holder
Then you have to purchase the 150mm filters, which can you find on Amazon or B&H. Hope this helps!
