You can pre-order here

Here is the Amazon link. The comments are mostly people angry about not receiving the book through Kickstarter.

The map itself was produced by a publisher in germany: http://www.kalimedia.com/Atlas_of_True_Names_Canada.html

but appeared in (the very excellent) Best American Infographics 2014 http://www.amazon.ca/The-Best-American-Infographics-2014/dp/0547974515

You might want to read those books to understand why overly contrasting bits can not be likable to most people. I'm not being subjective here. Also stop with the "triggering" nobody is offended by the gif, people are only irritated or annoyed. Calling somebody a tumblerfag like TB did does not invalid their point.

Get this (very old but very good) book: Visual Display of Quantitative Information by Tufte.

Browse https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/top/?sort=top&t=all

and maybe http://www.amazon.com/Best-American-Infographics-2015/dp/0544542703/ref=sr_1_1?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1464943088&sr=8-1&keywords=best+infographics&refinements=p_85%3A1 for inspiration.

Consider the coursera course: https://www.coursera.org/learn/infographic-design (it's very basic but a good overview)

Learn basic design concepts like visual hierarchy, white space, type, visual flow, colors, grid layouts, etc.

Do you know where they got that data?

If you want a taste of concept art, I recommend this book:
https://www.amazon.com/Big-World-Concept-Video-Games/dp/1624650201

Fairly awesome resource for a pretty low price, and if you happen to live in the North Texas area, the author teaches Concept Art at a community college here.

Mmhh, if you want to repeat the hand drawn middle earth cloth map, you could use one of these maps

  • Vampire infestation in the Old World
  • Sylvania map from Vampire Count armybook 8th edition

Would probably go for the Old World one with the Vampire Clan related needles.

If he is a huge Vampire fan, but not a regular tabletop gamer who has all the stuff already, two lore books would come to mind which he could appreciate as gifts.

  • Liber Necris
  • Nights Dark Masters which is for the Warhamemr Roleplaying game but still has a lot of very good lore to offer.

Sadly both books are not in print anymore, so they are a bit overpriced on the more common sources.

In case of posters and t-shirts, it looks a bit grim. The Warhammer Fantasy stuff belongs to Games Workshop, not Creative Assembly for Total Warhammer. And GW was always kind of a prick if other people used "their" stuff. Even if they themselves did nothing in that direction. To make matters worse "Warhammer Fantasy" used for CAs game, is "dead" and was replaced by Age of Sigmar. Which further dimishes merchandise in that direction. In case of t-shirts, there are some Warhammer Fantasy related flying around here
https://www.redbubble.com but mostly it would be Warhammer 40k (SciFi; not related to Total Warhammer) and you probably need a fan to find the right stuff burried in there. I clicked thorugh a few pages but found nothing appropriate and search function did not help either.
