Well, why use a vittle vault, then? I use a large Rubbermaid container. Stainless steel would be another option. Here is an example.

u/J-Brosky · 3 pointsr/Homebrewing

I would consider using a vittles vault pet food container. Its food safe and once your done with it you can always use it to store grain or other beer related activities.

u/LastDitchTryForAName · 3 pointsr/Greyhounds

Get a treat pouch. No more worries about crumbs or stains.

u/reddoggie · 3 pointsr/dogs

I use this container by Simplehuman for kibble storage. It's not cheap, but it's easy to clean, has a tight seal, and it looks really nice in my kitchen. (I've been using it for over a year and it looks/feels brand new still.)

u/BlueBG82 · 3 pointsr/Dogtraining

I've found the treat holders from Premier great. I've also used fanny packs.

Good luck with your training! What breed did you decide on?

u/panniculus · 3 pointsr/reactivedogs

Putting in some last minute dog supply orders before Luna's big move next week. I got a new treat pouch because the hinge on our current one is wearing out; This design is sooo much better for reactive dogs than the narrow drawstring ones but the downside is that they need to be replaced 1-2 times a year. I also bought a head collar that attaches behind the head because we want to walk Luna on a muzzle (harder to do with a head halter that attaches under the chin) for the first few weeks in the new place until we get a better feeling for which areas might have off-leash dogs; off-leash dogs are something that we encounter with EXTREMELY low frequency in the city but is something that I'm much more worried about in her new wooded-yet-somewhat-residential neighborhood. Finally I got an EzyDog leash to use for walks with her harness (again muzzled) for use when we want something a little more sniffy than our city leash but busting out the long lines would be overkill.

u/fwizard226 · 2 pointsr/dogs

This is the one that I use. It has a hinge so it stays open and pushes closed easily, which is great, especially when training on walks. It has an adjustable belt that clips (buuuuut I left it in reach of my dog one time and she ate treats out and chewed the clip...so I have to tie mine now, so sad).

Does it still look like a fanny pack? Yeah. But for me I'm at the point where it's a choice between 1) looking stylish and having a leash aggressive dog or 2) looking like a dork with a fanny pack and training my dog to stop flipping the hell out. So dork it is! :p

u/harrisdude9 · 2 pointsr/soylent

I use one of these, mix up about 10 days worth of powder at a time, add liquids and blend the day of. It works pretty well, takes about a minute to do every day.

Its a pet food container, but its airtight and food grade plastic

u/773-998-1110 · 2 pointsr/Homebrewing

You could possibly use a vittles vault, lots of homebrewers use them for bulk grain storage and it appears that a mill would fit on top without much issue.

Something like this maybe?

u/veloshots · 2 pointsr/GoRVing

We use a bin with a lid that twists to get open and closed. It keeps food from spilling, ever.

u/Bearded-and-Bored · 2 pointsr/Homebrewing

The weirdest thing I did was turn a dog food container like this into a brew cube so it would fit in my fridge for lagering. It was a brand new container with an airtight screw on lid. Just drilled holes for an airlock grommet and a spigot. Looks funny, but works great.

I also turned my mini fridge into a lagerator by removing the freezer compartment and moving the chill plate to the side so I had enough room for a bucket. Got a temp controller from amazon to regulate it, and it works like a charm.

u/sheeeeple · 2 pointsr/Homebrewing

Just noticed that in the background, someone brought a pet food container that they turned into a fermenter. It's a great idea! It's food grade plastic, has an easy to remove lid with a rubber seal, and has convenient handles on the side.

I'm surprised I hadn't seen that online before.

Vittles Vault Outback 15 lb Airtight Pet Food Storage Container seal and stack nicely. You could get base malt in 10 lbs increments. With that batch size and no mill, you’re not going to get to buying full sacks, which is where the price changes.

Probably you should subscribe to homebrewfinds, get familiar with the average per pound price of malts you like and typical shipping prices and then watch for deals.

This is what I have one of my dogs food in. He's special and needs to eat different food from the other two. This is what I have the other two's food in. Love them both. The larger one, you just drop the bag in (you have to fold it over to get it to stay under the lip, but still 2 minutes of work)and are done so you don't have to clean out crumbs, it's fantastic. The smaller one's stack (I had 3 different kinds of food at one point so the smaller ones worked then).

Declawing is the same as surgically removing the last bone from each of your fingertips. Learn to keep the cat's nails trimmed correctly. Too short and if a cat's not used to it, they can't walk, run, or jump without wobbling until they grow back.

Not all cats like scratching posts -- mine prefers cardboard, but not the 'on-edge' cardboard cat scratchers, so my dad helped me add a wooden 'tray' to the top of the post in which I place flat squares of cardboard cut from boxes. She scratches and sleeps there, and sometimes just perches there to watch out the window. Don't get a carpet-covered scratching post or pad unless you want to teach your cat that scratching carpet is a good idea. =P

I have a Booda Dome for a litter box -- she still tracks some litter. I don't think there's a system out there that will keep cats from tracking any. Some litters are better than others. Covered litter boxes are nice for the humans, but not all cats will adapt to the flaps. Some litters are lower 'dust' than others, and this is better for cats' lungs and humans' alike. =)

Not all cats will respond to catnip or all types of toys. My cat is indifferent to laser pointers, and only likes the actual fur-covered realistic mice. She doesn't care for bell toys, but those little plastic springs drive her nuts (when she's in the mood). Her favorite toy is a wooden wobble 'bead' in which you can place catnip. Also a Da Bird Feather Cat Toy which you can make flutter to sound like a real bird. I'd suggest the non-collapsible one, as I'd suspect my cat would pull that apart. =P

Talk to your vet about what food(s) are actually good for your cat. From my research, you want to avoid bone meal products or and 'meal' products as they include ground bone which is hard on your cat's kidneys. Also avoid grains. Turkey is better than chicken; not all fish are terrible, but you have to consider mercury levels. You should consider only feeding your cat wet food, but this is more expensive, and difficult to manage with hurried schedules. Mine loves kibble and hates having to give that up, so I leave that out all the time and supplement with a big scoop of wet food at night. (These are the best quality, least expensive per-serving foods I've found.) A 6-lb. bag of kibble seems to last my cat ~3 months. At four days (servings) per can, the 12-pack of 12.5 oz. cans last about 1.5 months. You'll need two snap-on plastic can lids. My cat adores salmon as you may see. =P

Not all cats will like all types of cat beds.

Mine LOVES water (she literally demands 'cat showers') and she likes to play with the dripping tub faucet, so next I'm going to get a cat drinking fountain. Cats in general prefer 'fresh' or moving water, so mine always wants clean water in her bowl every time.

Because no one cat will like every toy or bed or litter box, you may have to buy more than one. Talk to your vet about what types to try and how to encourage a cat to like what you buy. I put catnip on my cat's things -- that seems to have worked, but not all cats respond to catnip.

Not sure if this meets your requirements, but it's what I have. I had a lower feeder previously, but when we were dealing with an iliopsoas injury, my greyhound couldn't reach his head to his bowls, let alone to the floor (it caused him pain), and I needed something taller. It worked for him at the time and I stuck with it. Haven't had any issues with either of my greyhounds. My only complaint is the space below the bowls (not the storage area) is fully enclosed so condensation tends to build up.

As a side note, this shipped to me from Canada, so it seems the seller is Canadian. Might work out for you as it took a few days for it to get through customs for me in the US.

I got this treat jar:

Snapware Airtight Food Storage Pet Treat Canister, Small, Pack of 1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D3NN2FA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_isl4DbAMSSJTE

What I did for easy treat access was by taping Velcro on the top of the lid. Then I found a old plastic jar lid and put Velcro on the outer top side, flipped it over and attached it to the treat jar to create a “plate” to place treats. I didn’t want my dog associating the sound of the treat jar that he would get a treat every time so that’s why created a “plate” on the jar to easily grab treats throughout the day.

u/inmyotherpants79 · 1 pointr/CatsAreAssholes

We use this for food storage. Our youngest cat has... issues... with food and can worm into just about anything.

u/legicid3 · 1 pointr/dogs

Let me try to explain it a bit better. I can't find the exact leash I have, but here's a similar one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CCW50WC/ref=pd_sbs_199_5?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=EYXAEVSV2RHRR5VJX535.

If you look at the shoulder leash or waist in the last image, you get that by hooking one of the leash clips to a loop. You can thread the leash through a treat pouch with belt loops before you clip it to the loop. I use this treat pouch but obviously there are many others with belt loops. Does that make any sense? If not, I'll take a picture of mine later.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/dogs

If you have a TJ Maxx or Homegoods near you go there; they often have kibble-keepers at half the price of petstores.

We got a Gamma Vault there.

u/Moosasaurus · 1 pointr/reactivedogs

hahaha I can totally see myself doing that too.

My dog is tiny so I have to cut her treats into microscopic pieces which is a gigantic PITA but one advantage it gives me is that I don't have to carry a large volume of treats around. So I think I'll be okay with the treats themselves moving within the bag, but wasn't as sure how I'd do with the movement of the bag itself. I'm thinking about trying the PetSafe pouch since it's flat but also easy to open.

u/_Lucky_Devil · 1 pointr/Dogtraining

I have a Trek & Train bait bag by Doggone Good and have liked it a lot.

Stays open if you want it to, and pops closed and stays closed with a little magnet. Holds lots of treats and has held up well.

u/mrhelio · 1 pointr/soylent

How much are you mixing up at a time? you might need to buy multiple containers... I got this one from bed bath and beyond

I actually like these ones better which you can get from walmart

1. Awesome treat bag from awesome husband.

2. Treats like these, in any size!

3. That's so many wine bottles away.

4. fingers crossed!

u/Doggiedoggiedoo · 1 pointr/Dogtraining

Sure! I hope it goes well. The treats can be super important too if dog is food motivated. Helps to switch treats somewhat regularly to keep the dog interested. I would also definitely recommend a treat pouch. They're inexpensive, clip onto your pocket or belt loop, and super convenient. Particularly if you're going to be doing a lot of training while walking. You're already holding a leash and probably a clicker, so the pouch is a lifesaver. Mine is similar to this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Kyjen-Outward-Hound-Treat-Training/dp/B0081XINMA/

u/habitsofwaste · 1 pointr/ftm

Keys on a carabiner. Wallet back pocket but take it out when sitting. It'll fuck up your back. Phone other back pocket unless your front pockets are the slide slits, then it goes in my front left pocket.

Dog poop bags? Well I assume you don't carry this around all the time! I bought a holder and attach it to the leash.

And for treats, I hang this on my belt loop when I'm walking him or taking him to the dog park. He's a puppy so he's in training.

I know absolutely nothing about lorises, however according to Wikipedia, they practice "infant parking" where they leave their young behind in nests with allergenic saliva coating them to discourage predators.

And this please!

I ordered the timberwolf leash last night. Looks great. Then I found this brand -mydogscool and they are made with climbing rated rope. Got me thinking I can make something like this myself. I am going to give it a try and see what I can come up with.

Only been a dog owner for two months, so still learning a lot about dog products. My favorites so far:

Chuckit Ultra ball

Kongs

Odin treat "balls" - Soft and my pup can pick it up making it much more fun than the hard plastic kind. Found it locally for half the price on the site. You can even combine two of them to make it more difficult for them.

Gamma2 Vittles Vault Plus for food storage.

Multipet's 11.5-Inch Latex Polka Dot Globken Chicken Dog Toy Makes a great chicken noise. Not good for strong chewers.

Carlson extra tall pet gate with cat door - keeps puppy away from kitty room and food.

Cheap poop bags AmazonBasics Dog Waste Bags with Dispenser and Leash Clip

Clickers - Like this style best. Easy to press no mater how you hold it.

Ash Bucket to hold pellets collected from auger-line during feed cycle - Better safe than sorry. Any pellet close to the blower in there should be stored in steel for peace of mind at least overnight.

I have this one and love it -

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QSMWRK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00

It fits more than it looks like it would - the biggest one is up to 35 pounds. I keep it on a shelf in the closet, so I wanted something without wheels. It's very easy to open and close, is dog proof, and keeps the food very fresh.

u/mrniceguy421 · 1 pointr/shiba

Puppy class is the correct answer here.

Also, if your puppy is getting tired of the treats it sounds like you need to find a more high "value" treat (i.e. something that tastes better/is more appealing) and give smaller amounts. She is tiny right now so when rewarding/training she only needs a small piece to get the point across. Think about 1/4 the size of a dime for now and when she is older she can have bigger pieces.

If you dont already have one, get one of these. Very helpful and you will likely need it for training/socialization classes which, in my opinion, are essential.

Good luck!

I have a dachshund that does this sometimes. I started mixing in a tablespoon of wet dog food with his kibble and now have no problems. I just keep the can in the fridge, takes us about 4-5 days per can. Got one of those can saver lid things to pop on the top.

Used to buy Nutro from PetSmart but now I now buy I&love&you brand from amazon, natural ingredients, smells like human food. Lol! Decently cost effective. Seems that he prefers purina salmon kibble with beef booyah stew the most... but then sometimes he’ll start refusing again and then I’ll switch up the wet food and he’s fine. Maybe he’s just bored with no variety? ¯_(ツ)_/¯ go figure.

Not trying to criticize here.

Based off the size of loaves you got and your 1.25 quote , I'm guessing youre buying 5 pound or similar bags from your grocery store. You can actually be even MORE frugal!

Check this out.

25 pounds of flour for what you probably pay for 2 or 3 five pound bags at the store. We store them in back in containers like this. (We have one for sugar, salt, 2x of rice, bread flour, white flour, cereals and cat foods. They stack neatly on top of one another. This maked a batch of bread using 5 cups of flour much cheaper than when we were getting stuff from the grocery.

You should be able to get closer to 35 to .50 a loaf if you buy your yeast, flour, and shit in bulk.
