I got one for my dog (and a new collar) back in January. Now she is stealthy like a ninja.
FWIW, I really do recommend you keep your collar on your dog, it really is better for their safety, and the noisy tag thing is easily addressed. It only takes a moment of carelessness to leave the door open and they can get out. Microchips are a good backup, but the easiest way to be sure you get your pet back is to make sure they have their tags on.
They make cards you can put in your wallet next to your ID that say you have a pet at home, like this:
My DOG Is HOME ALONE Pet Alert Emergency ICE ID Plastic Wallet Card and Keytag (Qty. 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M04D0PL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EPCACb5QXMTAH
Do you feel comfortable talking to any of your neighbors about them being your emergency dog care? You could also look around at dog daycares / boarding facilities or look into pet sitters, and contact them about emergency situations and if they could be your back up, and have that number on your pet card too in case something were to happen. You could also give this information to your parents, even though they are far away you could still list them as your hospital emergency contact list and then they could notify your pet sitter/whoever to take care of your dog.
A cat with a moustache so fine really deserves a better wardrobe.
Nearly all pet stores have dog tag engraving machines.
Edit: /u/Shelovesthatbacon pointed out that Amazon has them for $3, so now I feel ripped off on something that I used to think was a great deal.
https://www.amazon.com/Quiet-Spot-Pet-Silencer-Black/dp/B0017JE522
I just don't think you can win this battle; best thing you can do is mute the noise the tags make. Neutering may help a lot more than anything else.
Tag pouch?
I have the same one on my two cats; PetCo has them for their laser engraving machine. I don't recall the price.
Amazon has something similar.
LPT: I put their names and "I'M LOST" on the front and phone number on the back. My cats stay indoor so if they're ever found, there's no question if they're supposed to be outside.
You could try a tag that lays flat on the band of the collar, like this one. My pup managed to lose three regular tags before I switched to this kind. It has an added bonus of not jingling!
You can get a tag that slides onto the collar itself, it doesn't hang off anything.
http://www.amazon.com/Slide-On-Pet-Collar-Noise-Colors/dp/B00E5FMH1Q
You can even get a QR code but I don't see the point of that if you have a regular tag

Yep, you have several options here. There are people that embroider your dog's information right onto the collar (Etsy would be a good place to check out for this), or you can get a small metal plate that attaches flat to the collar with rivets, or you can get a slider tag like this. Since your dog is still a puppy, the slider tag may be a good option because you can transfer it to a new collar if he outgrows his current collar.

I like these slide on metal tags. They fit a basic belt buckle collar, but you can get them onto quick release buckle collar if you're willing to take it apart and sew it back together. This is the collar on my dog right now along with this id tag. No sewing necessary. I'm pretty happy with it, but I also am a fan of the fun patterns that Blueberry Pet offers.
Thank you! He is 11 weeks old. Still very much a baby!
I got the dog tag from Amazon. Link here
I have to mention that it was mailed via USPS and I think it came in the mail 7 days after the expected delivery date. Overall took ~2.5 weeks if you’re willing to wait!
Pet Tag Silencer
It seems like something trivial, but my dogs are very energetic and love to wrestle and run around the house. Sometimes at all hours of the night. We used to take collars off at night, but with the addition of a dog door (which is on my list of best purchases ever as well) we don't like to take the risk that they may get out of the yard somehow. They're microchipped, but the tags we got with our phone number on it would probably make it even easier, should the unforeseen occur.
Quiet spot. It's amazing. You can buy it on amazon. Quiet Spot Pet Tag Silencer, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017JE522/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_7HJVub19S2QXV

Looks like you have a good list going, remember to update your pups microchip with your address and get him/her a tag with your details.
We got a 36 inch crate and it's plenty big for our boy (he's around 30 pounds).
Puppia harness is a great starter harness, it's soft and doesn't have a bunch of metal jingling pieces which our puppy HATED on his harness our breeder gave us.
Kibble, check out dog food advisor for reviews and ratings of foods content, we were using grain free salmon and sweet potato from chicken soup for the soul, it's decently priced and well rated I can't find it anywhere atm so we're switching him back to their normal kibble.
Salmon Oil is a lifesaver in the winter, our pup gets terribly dry skin and extremely itchy without it.
Start out with a puppy kong, they sell kong fillers that are cheese and peanut butter flavored, our puppy was pretty picky at first and only ate the cheese one, didn't like frozen kongs either.
I'd start with a Basic Collar here's a Dog Tag Silencer and a Break-away collar for outdoors or dog park. A dog was choked unconscious at our park so I typically just keep our guys ID tags on his harness and don't use a collar, but if you do I definitely recommend a break-away if you are primarily using a harness with it.
Items we found useful: Bed Liner, Crate Fence, Kong, Stainless Steel Bowls (highly reccomend US made do not buy any made in China for health reasons), Zippy Paws Hide and Seek toys, Potty/accident cleaner, Potty Bells, Anti-chew Bitter Apple spray, 50 ft Leash, Retractable Leash, Soft stop Leash extender, Car Seat Belt, Car Booster Seat, Gentle Shampoo, Comb, Travel Water Bottle, Flirt Pole, Special Treats, Chew Stick, Greenies
Sorry for the HUGE list lol, feel free to ask any questions!
They also make silencers for collar tags that may help and could be more convenient than taking the tags off at every meal — I often see them at the register of checkout counters of pet stores, and Amazon has them.
they have customizable dog tags on amazon and a few other places as well.
I bet if you contacted someone on Etsy they may have more options for you.
All cats should wear a collar with ID tags at all times, even if you intend for them to be fully indoors.
I have two friends, one in Arizona and the other in California, both who refused to put collars/ID tags on their cats because "oh, they'll never get out!" (One friend didn't even spay her cat, she was THAT convinced the cat would never escape.)
Of course, both sets of cats got out - in Arizona through the carelessness of another family member, and in California as the result of a burglary that left a window smashed. One friend only found one of her cats. The other found hers, but the cat had gotten pregnant in the meantime. The cat was small and ended up needing a Caesarian section to deliver the kitten.
So, all cats should wear collars and ID tags, because no matter how careful YOU are, bad luck still happens!
Proper breakaway collars are perfectly safe. If you actually purchase a safe, legit breakaway collar, a cat cannot get hurt if it gets caught. Cheap or non-breakaway collars are unsafe and should not be used.
My older cat has worn a collar all 19 years of her life. She is an outdoors cat. She has NEVER gotten caught in a "bad situation" because of her collar - I buy good-quality breakaway collars. Sure I've lost a few collars over the years, but that's fine with me.
I use Rogz brand exclusively. They're the best collars I've found during my cat's 19+ years of life, and they're adjustable - they have 3 different breakaway "strengths". You could adjust one to the medium or high setting so that it will still break away if caught, but won't just pop off if your cat scratches at it.
My old girl has worn the Rogz collars for 10+ years and has never gotten "strangled" or stuck/jaw-stuck. She has lost a total of two collars in that time - and I assume the collars did their job - she got them stuck on something and they broke away just like they are supposed to.

If your kitty has a problem with the dangling tag itself, you can try something like these:

Hello! I am going to cheer you up, I just know it!!
So I'm going to link a few things, if I happen to win I don't have any preference for a gift or anything. :)
FIRST THINGS FIRST. This ought to make you giggle!
If not, what about seeing me wear these around like no big thang? hehehe
Are you a fan of Harry Potter?
Would seeing my little kitty in this cheer you up?
Or would having some of these floating around your house make you feel nice? I think they'd be great for a party too. Especially in the summer when it's already so pretty out!
This would be perfect for playing in the summer, especially in a waterballoon fight! Or on a scavenger hunt, or on a boat! :D
Also, if none of this works, you could always order one of these! They are supposed to "wave good juju" around your home, encouraging luck and good fortune!
Anyways I hope this cheers you up! Have a great rest of your day! <3 big e-hugs
> Is that a RoadID on your dog?
Same concept, but it is from an Amazon vendor
I use this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J3VBAWS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Our dog is chipped and also wears a collar 24/7 except when I groom him. He used to be a runner and I'm still paranoid. We live on a ravine, he likes to explore. We are fenced but I worry if there was a loose board or something.
Anyway, we used to rubber band or tape the tags together because of the noise. Then I found this do-hickey Quiet Spot . The only time I had to replace it was when he got a little too friendly with a skunk. Here's another pouch type from Thundershirt. It's clear which might be better, if he was found we'd be easier to find.
It’s a Velcro pouch. It’s meant to quiet them. The tags still go on the normal way and this covers them up. I also don’t like my info being displayed for all to see so it adds some privacy too. Peace Tag
I wouldn't get carried away with LEDs. By themselves, they're cheap and easy to find. I'd be afraid including them would drive the price up unnecessarily. You could offer them separately for those who desire something that goes with the harness specifically. I only use mine at certain times (warm nights), so we don't get constant use of it. Just don't embed them into the harness because those get annoying to deal with and are usually annoyingly bright and bulky (I've tried out the leashes). Those reflective strips would probably be enough for a lot of people.

This is specifically what I have, though it was definitely only 3$ when I got it.
Shibas can be escape artists, so make sure it's tagged and chipped.
Get a tag silencer in case you get a bad case of the shiba shakes at night.
Make sure you have a ton of chew toys and stuffies to play with. When he wants to play or mindlessly chew, mine will pull like 10 toys out and alternate when throwing them around...however, he will chew on other random things when he's bored and we're not looking- stuff like tissues, paper, pencils, etc. They don't stop chewing until they've destroyed the thing completely. Busy Bones are a great doggie sitter!
They get very attached to a small number of humans and will generally avoid everyone else. Mine sits near me or under my feet all day and follows me when I leave the room. He whines when my MIL leaves the house and stares intently at the door when he thinks she'll be back (he's always wrong).
They are quiet most of the time but will talk your ear off when they want to. They have an entire dialect of noises that mean different things. Mine tells me that the teapot is ready, expresses his extreme displeasure when the printer is going, and tells me when he needs to go outside. He shrieks when we run the shredder.
Make sure there's a bunch of good grass for them to munch. They go through 'goat' phases.
If your shiba gets itchy skin, they will pull the fur out around that spot.
I use these. They're relatively cheap, but they take a while to ship.
here you go!

I just used one of those sites for an ESA letter for my pit daisy, I wasn't even considering getting her a vest but this post convinced me to.
She'll be sporting this when we're walking past the neighbor who had the biggest problem.
Might snag one of these bad boys too lol

These work great.
To be fair, this is not always the case. My dogs are licensed with the city, however, I've stopped leaving their license tags on their collars because one or the other always manages to lose it at the park. After losing it a handful of times and having to replace them ($5 ea iirc) I just keep them on my keychain. That said, my guys are microchipped and I'd be fine with someone calling 311 if they managed to get out.
Looking at ordering something like this and adding license info to it in the hopes it won't be lost as easily.
This is a good alternative too that we stumbled upon. The stitching idea is smart though! I wish we thought of that.
my recommendation is to get a dog tag silencer. that way, it not only covers up the vital info, but it silences the jingling
Is it only a problem with the collar?
I'd reccomend one of these. An embroidered collar would work too.
Slide-On Pet ID Tags. Personalized Dog & Cat Tags. Silent, No Noise Collar Tags made of Stainless Steel. Custom Engraved. (Open for Snap Closure Collars) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00416J9F6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bhEVCbB654VX0
I’ve gotten these ones from Amazon twice now. Once for her skinny puppy collar, and once for her adult sized collar. They aren’t the most beautiful, but they are functional!
I wear a cheapy reflective vest over my clothes. I probably look like a dork but at least I'm seen.
I used to wear one of those slap bracelet type things that lights up but the pressure on my wrist bothered me.
I've even borrowed my dog's clip on light before, but it was so bright that it bothered my eyes. :-)
https://www.amazon.com/Game-Thrones-targaryen-dragon-Small/dp/B006ZARXYA here's the link to where I got mine. Quality is fairly good too.
We use this for tag silencing. It's a little pouch that wraps around all of the tags and keeps them in contact. It's even quieter than the rubber silencers, plus you don't have to worry about buying a variety of silencers when each tag might be a different shape.
Perhaps i can raise your hopes again, you can get a custom set on amazon for just $6.00
I've been using Adventure Lights Guardian - one on my aussie's harness and one on the back of my reflective vest. No buttons or switches -- twist on / twist off. They seem pretty bulletproof.
Or just get one of these. If you put the battery in one way, the light stays solid, flip the battery and it blinks. We clip it to our dog's collar or harness when we walk him at night or take him out for a campfire at my inlaws' cabin. It's brighter than hell at night.

How about using stainless steel blank "dog tags"?
