If you really need to use gloves use these
You might be able to find them cheaper somewhere else

As other redditors have advised, gloves aren't really that good, unless you're having a severe problem with blisters or you're a woman who prefers not to have calluses (you did not mention your gender).

If you insist on getting a pair, here's a pair that I've bought and had a good experience with. (they're for men, although there are recommendations for women, if you are a woman) They're a pair of simple, sturdy gloves.

Personally, I don't like gloves because they get in the way of gripping the bar. I would recommend letting the callouses grow a little more and your hands getting used to them. Then, start cutting down the calluses with a razor once they no longer hurt and are no longer red. It'll make lifting easier in the end.

However, if you do feel like getting gloves, get some like this or this. These have limited padding on the palm, which is better for when you start lifting heavy. Having your hand to far open around the bar makes it harder to hold.

Ha! Reminds me of the time my dad wore a brand new black hat without washing it first. He had black dye running down his face. I use hornet rowing gloves, they're amazing. >Damn time to start polishing the revolver

Effectively semi-automatic, though not quite fitting the definition, and with speedloaders it's just like changing a magazine.

Unlike magazines, however, you can buy them on amazon! https://www.amazon.com/HKS-Revolver-Speedloader-Charter-Taurus/dp/B07WGD261M

You'd for sure be one of the cool kids, but yeah, $179 is a bit much.

Are you a touch typist? Maybe just throw a small blanket over your hands and keyboard.

I used to wear some Under Armor fingerless gloves like this when camping. Lost them and was never compelled to replace. Might be a bit stiff for typing.

Maybe get a pair of glove liners or running gloves and chop the fingers off.

I have bad carpel tunnel, and use these:

SIMARI Workout Gloves for Women Men,Training Gloves with Wrist Support for Fitness Exercise Weight Lifting Gym Crossfit,Made of Microfiber and Lycra SMRG902(Pink S) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F8LTPGC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4SbRCbYWNMMGH

It provides some stabilization for my wrists and makes it easier to hold the weights. No compression in the glove portion though.

Does anyone use gloves? Why or why not? Thinking of maybe getting something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06W5GL39K/

You look amazing! Protect your hands when doing weight lifting, I could recommend a pair of gloves for you: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0756CKZ7K

I cannot find studies showing more severe injury because of wrist guards. Wikipedia mentions slamming your face and head more, with absolutely no reference to back it up.

After some googling it seems wrist guards are well-received among snowboarders. Googling "gloves with wrist guards" the top five results are all insulated snowboarding gloves. But I'd need something lighter.

This study shows they help:The effect of wrist guards on wrist and arm injuries among snowboarders: a systematic review

I bet if the high-end market started making cool biking gloves with guards, they'd be more common.

I have a pair of moto gloves I like so much, I wear them while commuting in the winter, but they don't have wrist supports. I can look into motocross gloves with wrist support. I see some lightweight weightlifting gloves have palm-padding for shock-reduction and hugely long wrist straps, as an alternative to a bent-bar wrist guard (similar to the gloves you linked). For instance, These gloves on Amazon If I try them I will post a review here.

Now you've got me shopping. As my skills improve and my investment goes up my wife is keeping an eye on my danger-index. This was a good post, thx. I think my biking gloves should have wrist support.

Yes. They make sportswear and tennis equipment too. They were wicked cheap at Costco last year so if you or a friend has a membership, look there first!

These are most similar to what we have. They make a few versions.

As I said, they're well balanced gloves for daily wear. Not the absolute warmest, but toasty enough for most days, and nearly as dexterous as wearing latex gloves. Get a meaty pair of mittens for those single digit days and playing in the snow. Unfortunately, this is one of those cases where I'm afraid there's not just one good solution.

Some people have bigger issues with calluses than others. I use these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06VSF62X4/

I can still feel the bar, it doesn't interfere with the lifts and no calluses

What about something like these gloves? Weight lifters use those. If you like them, I'm pretty sure you can find a leather worker on etsy who can custom make them to fit the whole palm.

These are also weight lifting.

These are wheelchair specific

Gloves such as these ones can really help protect the skin of your hands during your lifts.

Also experiment with different grips ; the three biggies are double overhand, alternate/mixed and hook. (Alternate/mixed is my favourite but it’s best if you try them for yourself and pick a favourite)

Does anyone have the _leather_ Cobra grips, non-affiliate Amazon link here for image reference.

I can't find the measurements of how long the flap/grip is. Basically, from the wrist, how long is that grip part?

I currently use leather Harbinger grips, non-affiliate Amazon link here for image reference. I like how these have a long grip, longer than other grips I've tried (16 cm). I don't have a store around me that sells leather Cobra grips, so I can't measure them in person.

How long are the grips from the wrist? Are they longer/shorter than 16 cm/6.3"?

Just got myself a pair of these I’m a fan so far

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077YB3RLX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_3R4-AbRFRZR93

It looks like they implement a wrist strap of sorts for the wrists, was hoping maybe the fingers would have a similar effect
