lol I'm totally the opposite. I like my skincare cheap but I don't mind spending $ on clothes, as long as the quality is high. In my experience a high quality clothing item that costs a bit more money can last me a decade, but a skincare product may only last me a few months...plus ingredients are cheap, there's often not an increase in quality with really expensive skincare items. edit: I understand the urge to spend money on sheet masks though! I've actually made myself only use diy sheet masks with these guys, because purchasing them was taking up too much of my budget

u/phedre · 41 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Wall of text incoming, along with the products that work for me. YMMV with individual products, of course!

All of these are just what I use, and all have alternatives that may work better for you and/or be cheaper. This has evolved over the past two years, I didn't just pick all this up at once and start throwing it on my skin - start slow, and see how your skin adjusts to each step for a week or so before moving onto another product.

I do my "skin routine" morning and evening, with some variations depending on how much time I have and what time of day it is.

First, hydration. Looks like you've taken care of that one! Water, water, and more water is what helped the most. I go through roughly 3L of water at work if not more, plus more once I get home.

Second, I never use foaming cleansers. I cut out anything with foams, and went with a two step cleansing process: first, oil cleansing (I use Banila Clean It Zero) to get rid of the bulk of my makeup. Then I follow with a cream cleanser (Guerlain Lait de Beauty, but there are MANY more affordable options out there).

Then I use a toner. But not the stripping, Sea Breeze type toner, a moisturizing one. Currently using HadaLabo Hyaluronic Lotion. Don't let the "acid" fool you - hyaluronic acid is extremely moisturizing.

Every 3-4 days in the evenings, I use a chemical exfoliator (NEVER physical, my skin can't take it) in the form of a BHA and AHA. BHAs remove gunk from pores, AHAs strip dead skin. Both mine are from cosrx:

https://sokoglam.com/products/cosrx-bha-blackhead-power-liquid

https://sokoglam.com/products/cosrx-aha-7-whitehead-power-liquid

Some people leave them for 20 minutes, I don't have the patience, I just go right into the next step and add a sheet mask. If you're new to actives, this will be too often - do them once a week, max.

Then the fun part - sheet masks. I looove sheet masks. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Anything with Hyaluronic acid is my go to. My Beauty Diary Hyaluronic Acid is a staple. I let that sink in while doing whatever around the house. I do one of these a few times a week, every night if I can.

Then I go onto moisturizing. I have a variety of serums, essences, and oils that I use depending on how dry my skin feels, but my basic routine goes:

If my skin is extra dry, I add in an extra moisturizing step here. I use Miss Flower and Mr Honey in summer, Scinic All in One honey ampoule in winter. Or sometimes I use Guerlain Face Treatment Oil.

If my skin is red, I add in CosRX Snail 96 to help control it.

Separate eye cream, ALWAYS. Right now I'm loving Clarins Super Restorative eye cream.

Then the big moisturizers:

History of Whoo Jinyul Essence

History of Whoo Jinyul Cream

Final step for day, sunscreen - Biore Watery Essence SPF50 for daytime. Skipped at night for obvious reasons.

For the night routine, before bed I apply one of these masks:

CosRX Honey Mask

CosRX Rice Mask

Guerlain Abeille Royale Honey Mask

These give extra moisture at night while you're sleeping.

Again, this is not something that happened overnight - I can almost guarantee if someone takes this list and throws it all at their face at once, they'll end up a mess. I added things slowly.

If I was going to recommend an order, I'd go with this:

  • If you're using a foaming cleanser, replace it with a cream cleanser the next time it runs out. No need to waste things.

    Wait a week.

  • Add a GENTLE AHA. This will help remove dead skin and reduce dryness. Just once a week, no more.
  • Add a Hyaluronic acid sheet mask, like the MBD one. It's affordable, and relaxing.

You could swap the above two if you have a lot of cleanser left.

    Wait a week.

Once you're used to those, add an essence. Something very moisturizing and rich.

    Wait a week.

Look at adding in a sleeping pack.

From there, pick what you'd like to address and add them in.

I know it's a lot to take in, so if you have specific questions about any of this, just ask.

This is very sweet! I would definitely put together the box yourself instead of doing a subscription. It will be cheaper AND more thoughtful. Some ideas for stuff to put in it:

- a big water bottle (32 or 64 oz), because you wouldn't believe how much water we're supposed to drink

- preggy pops, seabands and ginger candies for nausea

- saltines

- something indulgent, like a candle, lotion or skincare product: I love these masks

- a pregnancy journal

I've struggled with depression and anxiety for the last 5ever so I didn't take care of myself properly besides showering and washing myself, anything more than the basics was a struggle tbh.

I slowly started getting into /r/asianbeauty because the multiple steps were a way to treat myself nicely and relax after all the mental torture I put myself through on a daily basis. I kind of zone out while I'm rubbing different layers into my face and then wake up the next morning feeling good about my skin looking flawless so the day at least starts on a good note.

A lot of skin related stuff is trial and error though too, depending on your skin type. So don't get discouraged if you start this and have crazy skin reactions. I went through two years of hell because my skin is dumber than a box of rocks and doesn't understand that I was just TRYING to help it. Also tbf I went crazy and went from using nothing to 12 different things on my face. But still. >_>

Sheet masks are fun and easy. They're really cheap, and the effects last like a day. Peel the paper off and slap it on your face. Pro tip, if it's hot where you live put them in the fridge for a few minutes and it feels lovely. Alternatively if it's cold, sit on one for a few minutes and it warms up.

Bath salts are as well if you have a bath tub. Those are my favorite. The smell with those are weird ftr. It smells very much like an old woman in the tin, however once it's in the water it smells very herbal and clean. They also last forever, you just use the lid to measure. I have a bath once or twice a week on especially hard days and they're so relaxing. That brand in general has nice salts if the smell puts you off. (If you're sensitive to smells, I do not recommend the milk protein one. It smells like vomit to me and it's over powering.)

I obvs don't know your story, but I think in general it's hard to get into things even if you don't have mental roadblocks. But once you start, it's totally worth it because it makes you feel good about yourself and it's something to look forward to at the end of the day.

So as a makeup lover and a cat lady (seriously check out my username), I definitely know of a few things that I think would be nice gifts for your roommate.

Tarte came out with a Sex Kitten Palette that was limited edition, so their website and Ulta are sold out, but Amazon still has some.

Tarte also came out with a matching Sex Kitten Eyeliner with a cute little cat head on the lid.

TONYMOLY has a Cat Stick Balm that is a little weird looking, but still cute, and I've used before and it's really nice.

TONYMOLY also has the cutest Cat Wink Compact that is a decent setting powder inside the cutest cat faced compact. Bought this for my friend and she just loved it!

There's always Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette that is cat-themed, even though there are no physical pictures or depictions of cats. Also the quality on this is really nice.

J.Cat Beauty has a really cute cat blush+bronzer duo that I've never tried before, but it's so cheap that I'd say its worth checking out.

Holika Holika makes cat blush+highlight and here's a different shade available. I love these!

Winky Lux has a very nice kitten palette that I've been wanting to try.

Sugar Pill makes an eyeshadow called Kitten Parade that I just adore.

Sugar Pill also came out with the Feline Fancy palette which was LE and is sold out, but there are some on eBay if you really wanted it.

And the last I can think of is Paul + Joe. They have so many limited edition collections, so they have released a lot of cat themed items I'm sure you could scour for on eBay, but they do still have some left on their website. First is this really nice makeup bag.

They also have this beautiful empty compact that their eye trios fit perfectly into.

The ever so adorable and famous cat shaped lipstick bullet refill that fits into any of their empty lipstick holders. Might I recommend this one?

And if you really wanted to treat your roommate to something special (and very expensive), eBay has a lot of brand new, LE cat makeup pieces that are to die for.

Hope this was of help to you! Happy shopping :)

My favourites are two by South Korean beauty brands; one sheet mask is called the Real Water Brightening Mask by a brand named Jayjun. Phenomenal sheet mask that's also really handy for travelling, as it comes with its own little samples of cleansing foam and essence from their Real Water line. What I like about this one is the fit; the sheet mask is thick, fits my face comfortably well, and is drenched (but not dripping and messy) with all the good stuff. Most sheet masks also tend to dry up after like 15-20 minutes, but I find that this lasts me at least 40 minutes but I generally keep this on my face an hour everytime I use it. This is the $2 sheet mask, as you can easily find them in packs of 10, retailing for $20, give or take a dollar. Here is one link (non-affiliate of course)!

My other favourites are pretty much anything and everything by Mediheal. The price point is similar to Jayjun's masks (and some lines even cheaper, retailing for about $10-$12 per pack of 10), and the quality is also amazing. N.M.F Aquaring Ampoule Mask is my favourite- whenever I need a hit and dose of hydration, this is my go-to.

EDIT: Added some links for my other favourite masks available on Amazon! All links are as usual, not affiliate.

u/xkangni · 21 pointsr/AsianBeauty

If you have Amazon Prime, you can get a 16 variety pack of Dermal sheet masks for ~$8.50 each here and here. I find these to be the cheapest decent quality masks I've tried so far! Cheaper ones I've tried tend to be irritating for my skin or just useless.

You can also get "free" sheet masks at Skin18, you just have to pay for shipping (by weight) so if you buy a lot of them at once it is more worth it.
(UPDATE: turns out you can only get one freebie at a time on Skin18, so maybe not so great for bulk sheet mask buys.)

If you're looking for straight up just hella bulk and inexpensive sheet masks for daily usage, KOSE sells them in a giant pack of 1/2 lb but I haven't actually used any of them myself since I have my own stash of 200+ sheet masks LOL. They have Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen.

Innisfree also really often has BOGO free deals for their sheet masks. They're more expensive than the other options I've listed but if you buy a lot at once it'll be cheaper per mask.

LASTLY, (sorry long post) there's also Korean buying services where companies will locate the items you want to buy at a lower price in Korea and ship it to you for a fee. This service is super worth it if you're planning on a HUGE haul. However it's also more complicated than just adding stuff to your cart and checking out like you would on other online stores. There's a guide on how to use the big buying services in the sidebar here if you're interested!

Honestly, there's tons of resources to buy bulk sheet masks, and if you buy a crap ton at once, they're even cheaper :P

u/musicophile · 15 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Some companies do multi-mask packs, like this, so there is much less packaging involved.

u/lazimazi · 10 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

These are advertised as brightening, but I've found them to be very moisturizing! They were recommended to me from r/skincareaddiction.

Hi everyone! A bit about me. My skin type is dry, so I'm always looking out for new moisturisers. I'm also quite pale, so I need to watch out for the sun. My goal has always been to be confident in my skin, to go without makeup, and to try and even out my skin tone. After ten months of skincare, you can see me here!

Here is my routine thus far, thoughts/comments always welcome!

AM:

  1. Wash face with Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam (Hands down best face wash for me. I love the way it makes my skin feel, and it really takes off everything from that evening/daytime. It's expensive, but worth it in my eyes)
  2. Pixi Rose Tonic (This seems to be working for me so far, and keeping my skin hydrated. That said. I'm interested in trying out different products soon)
  3. SK II Facial Treatment Essence (I bought this purely because everyone raves about it. I've only been using it 2 weeks, so too soon to decide if its worth the price or not. )
  4. Eye cream with Nuxe Crème Prodigieuse (One of the few eye creams that doesn't leave my skin/eyes stinging! I love every Nuxe product I try, it really calms my skin)
  5. Sunday Riley Good Genes (Again, I bought this purely because everyone raves about it. I've only been using it 2 weeks, so too soon to decide if its worth the price or not.)
  6. Last - sunscreen! Perricone MD Photo-Brightening Moisturiser (SPF 30) (This is the product I'm LEAST in love with - makes my skin a bit too shiny...)
  7. Occasionally: my only make up would be Dr Jart Premium Beauty Balm BB Cream (SPF 45) (I feel like this is a little too pink for me, but I smooth it out so that it gives me a nice light coverage, and minimises my pores)

    PM:

  8. Wash face with Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam
  9. Pixi Rose Tonic
  10. SK II Facial Treatment Essence
  11. Eye cream with Nuxe Crème Prodigieuse
  12. Sunday Riley Good Genes | OR |Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum (only applied Tuesdays/Thursdays) (I have already begun to notice a different in skin tone with this product. That said, I only use it 2x a week as its a strong product for my skin type).
  13. Last - Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream (I have been enjoying this night time cream, it feels so nice to put on. I normally only use Nuxe night creams...).

Once a week (usually Sundays) I use Dr Jart Porecting Solution Bubbling Charcoal Masks or Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Masks (I LOVE THESE MASKS!! I usually alternate every other Sunday. I cannot rave enough about these.)

My favorite Japanese beauty items are:

  1. Sana Hadanomy Collagen Mask - it has a strong astringent smell (if you remember the Body Shop blue corn scrub mask from the 90s it smells just like that). But it's the best mask I've used since I started AB a few months ago. Plump, moisturized skin and so much juice in the packet you can rub it all over!

  2. My 2nd-favorite mask is the Hada Labo Anti-Age mask. Very little scent, but kind of sweet like eggnog and very moisturizing.

  3. Shiseido Perfect Puff - a box of 32 pre-moistened cottony rectangles for removing makeup. If I can't do my full double-cleanse at night, I'll use one of these and then tone and moisturize. Also great for a quick AM cleanse to take off my night mask. Very thick, soft pads! I can fold it in half and use all four sides for face/neck/decolletage. So great!

  4. Hada Labo Tokyo Anti-Aging Hydrator - A Hyaluronic Acid lotion that just sinks in like magic and goes great under my sunscreen. Great slip, one pump will cover face and neck. I do two pumps if I'm feeling luxurious and want to just slather it down to my cleavage. Give it 5-10 minutes to sink in and then you're ready for the next step in your routine.

  5. Shiseido Perfect Watery Oil - I tried this since I'm running out of my Josie Maran Argan cleansing oil and I like trying new stuff. I've only used it twice, but it's a very light oil, not thick, and easy to rub all over. When you add water it emulsifies really well and rinses pretty clean. I'll be happy to use the whole bottle, but not sure if I'll re-buy since Josie Maran has been my personal HG cleansing oil for so long.

I purchased all of these Japanese items at a little Japanese market here in Austin - Asahi Imports - except for the Hada Labo Tokyo masks and Hyaluronic Acid lotion, which I buy at Walgreens.

Not op, but some stuff I use has snail mucus in it. I like the Korean skin care stuff.

My friends think it's disgusting, but I like my snail snot!

u/Zencipher · 6 pointsr/AsianBeauty

The best mask I've tried was Nature Republic's Real Nature Mask (Rose). I got it off of the 10pc variety pack on Amazon and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. I was really sensitive and broke out with all the other masks from that pack, but the rose one was like finding a diamond in the rough lol.

It helped calm down my acne, smelled amazing, helped fight the damage created by its sibling masks.

u/RockyColtTum · 5 pointsr/CFBOffTopic

For ones that are cheap and good check out My Beauty Diary. They sell them on amazon and I think some Walmart recently started carrying them. The pearl ones are my favorite but they have all kinds. The birds nest ones are really great too.

At Ulta the Leaders and Tony Moly masks are really great. You can find them a little cheaper other places but a lot of times you have to wait for shipping from Korea which sucks.

Target recently started carrying some Korean skincare too if you want to check them out.

Sheet masks are awesome and you get to look like a crazy serial killer while you are doing them.

u/indeedlydoodly · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I spot treat with sulfur. It does WONDERS for really painful pimples like this and I just glob it on over and around the spot overnight, in the morning they are usually much smaller and less painful. I use this one: http://www.amazon.com/Acnefree-Therapeutic-Sulfur-Mask-Ounce/dp/B003K75SDY

I also sometimes use a 20-30 min honey mask before bed and then sulfur. Helps to calm my skin.

u/treelets · 5 pointsr/AsianBeauty

For snail stuff I recommend the Mizon (All-in-One Repair Cream or Snail Ampoule) or Benton lines (Snail Bee High Content Essence) to combat redness and promote wound healing. For niacinamide she can use a night time moisturizer like EltaMD PM Therapy which has a fairly high amount of niacinamide (3rd ingredient on the list) compared to some other reasonably priced lotions. For arbutin there's My Beauty Diary Arbutin Whitening Mask and Rohto Hadalabo Shirojyun Arbutin Milk which is a hydrating emulsion that works like a light daytime moisturizer. I am personally a big fan of CELSUS Scar Cream which has a lot of nice botanical actives that promote skin softening and wound healing. I've used it on freshly healed wounds to great effect as long as I was diligent about application.

Once the scars/wounds have completely healed and the redness is gone, she could see about a Vitamin A cream to help further fade any scarring. If tretinoin from your dermatologist or GP is not an option, Avene Retrinal Plus 0.1 is the best OTC cream I've found for retinaldehyde.

u/harasar · 5 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I actually use these dry masks from amazon. Bonus: the pieces shaped for eyes work really well for lips, and lotion masking chapped lips works like a dream!

u/micha111 · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

these masks are THE MOST hilarious things to look at when in use. It's basically just paper mache ing your face, but it looks sooooo nourishing and nice afterwards :) I promise I won't use them in public like this girl ;) haha. I do not want a boat like this! <3

u/ZeeBail · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I'm loving Nature Republic Moist Steam Cream and Mizon Snail Sleep Pack for their super moisturizing yet light feeling.

u/Summernightss · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I've only used this one from HL:
Hada Labo Tokyo Anti-Aging Facial Sheet Mask 4 masks 2.8 Fl. Oz each - with Super Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E - 10 minutes at home facial, fragrance free, boosts hydration and helps restore firmness https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OFTIQ8U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_TnOSAbAJDGEVC

I'm in the US and I have seen it at Walgreens and Target.

Edit: oh man, this pack of 30 looks nice as well - only one left in stock! I love using masks after my shower while my skin is still wet.

HADA LABO Koi-Gokujyun 3D Perfect Mask, 14.2 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SB69TES/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_irOSAbQY6Q711

I got him these.

He actually has a fairly small head for a man. He wears hats all the time and we always have to get the smallest size.

u/Maben166 · 3 pointsr/AskMen

This is the mask I use pretty inexpensive for the amount you get. I try to use it once sometimes twice a week.Link to it on Amazon

u/DocGlabella · 3 pointsr/tretinoin

Are you waiting until your face is totally dry to apply your tret? That helps a lot with side effects. Also, I started to use Asian hydrating face masks and hyaluronic acid during the initial period. You are going to be dryer than you are used to being for a little while. But it does pass.

I would caution against using any acids or exfoliants in the early periods though. Turned my skin into a waste land.

u/Felix--Felicis · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Rave: I asked for recommendations last week for a moisturizing masks and got some great suggestions! So I ordered My Beauty Diary Hyalurunic Acid Moisturizing Masks from Amazon and used it for the first time a few days ago. I love them! I've never used a sheet mask before, but these are drenched in serum and leave my face feeling so soft and hydrated.

New Purchase: I'm trying to replace my expensive moisturizer with a cheaper option so I picked up Simple Skincare 24 Hour Nourishing Cream Moisturizer. I patch tested it last night and like it so far. Seems pretty moisturizing and absorbs very quickly!

New Purchase: I purchased Biore Sarasara Uv Aqua Rich Waterly Essence Sunscreen from Amazon and am still waiting for it to arrive. The reviews are pretty great so I'm excited to try it out. Question -- since this is a chemical sunscreen, is it okay to apply it after I finished my AM routine and before makeup? Or does it need to be applied directly to clean skin?

u/becca92079 · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

That would definitely not saturate the pellets IMO. And I'm not totally sure I follow but do you mean open several sheet masks just to use the serum, or save used ones? I don't usually have leftover serum in the packs (use it on my neck and chest) plus I've stopped using them so I don't have any!

I love tons of sheet masks! These are a fave. I really love the ones from Tatcha as well but I bet to make your own you'd use almost as much of the serum as they do and the cost would prove it, haha.

u/veronicaxrowena · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I will repost what I posted in another thread not too long ago, making edits for what’s relevant to my current routine experiences:

I sheet mask most nights. I have a drawer of backups in addition to the sheet masks I have ready to go on my skincare bar cart.

These are my favourites so far:

Dr. Jart Hydration Lover Rubber Mask // product here

  • The Ampoule pack that comes with it packs a ton of serum, and the jelly mask creates a great occlusive barrier to trap the serum in and prevent drying out. It says to leave it for 20-30 minutes, but no more than 40. I always go for the full 40 minutes. Your face is so hydrated and moisturized after that depending on your skin type, there is probably minimal products you need to follow up with after. Last night I used the Dr. Jart Bright Lover Rubber Mask and afterwards products sunk into my skin super quick.

Update Feb 20, 2018: I tried another Dr. Jart Mask two nights ago, the V7 Toning Mask and it is another winner that I will be repurchasing. It had a creamier essence that left my face so moisturised that I considered ending my routine there. And there is so much essence. I had enough for three additional applications after sealing in a ziplock bag. I find that I generally am wowed by all Dr. Jart masks, but they are pricey.

Mediheal N.M.F. Aquaring Hydro Nude Gel Mask // product here
  • I prefer hydrogel masks, although I do not discriminate - I use all sheet masks :) The hydrogel again creates a great occlusive, trapping in the moisture.

Dr. Jart Ceramidin Sheet Mask // product here
  • This is a (cotton?) sheet mask and it has an abundance of creamy essence. I particularly like this one on days that I do an exfoliating peel, such as Drunk Elephant Babyfacial, so that I can be sure to pamper my skin barrier after a deep exfoliation. I find that with this mask I have enough essence after rubbing it on my body to still use the remaining juice again the next day, but the time I planned to do that I just ended up throwing it away out of laziness.

Mediheal I.P.I Lightmax Ampoule Mask // product here
  • This is a brightening regular sheet mask that has arbutin and sodium hyaluronate high up on the ingredient list, and some other brightening ingredients such as vitamin C and grape fruit extract further down on the list. I like this mask because it has a lot of essence and I like the fragrance (last item on the ingredient list). I can’t really describe what it smells like, but it’s really soft to me, so if you don’t like fragrance you should avoid this one. But for me, it’s a nice additive.

My Beauty Diary Black Pearl Sheet Mask or My Beauty Diary Royal Pearl Sheet Mask // product here and here
  • These two are my most recent mask pack purchases. They are regular cotton (?) masks. I noticed a very plumped visage after having used them, they have a lot of essence that can be spread over the body from the left over juice, and they have the most perfect fit of any sheet mask I have ever used. They have the most appropriate cuts(?) in them around the eye and nose areas making for a more customized fit. No joke, these fit like they were made for my face.

    Added Feb 20, 2018:
SNP Bird’s Nest Aqua Ampoule Sheet Mask // Product here
This is a favourite of this sub, and I can see why. It has so much essence, and although it is fragranced, I like the scent. It smells like a clean hand soap. This left my face plump and hydrated. I purchased it for $2.80 at a local AB store, and I think I will go back to repurchase the box.

Whamisa Organic Seeds & Rice Fermented Hydrogel Facial Mask // Product Here
First tested on Dec. 19. First impressions: very thin clear nude hydrogel mask. Very delicate. Smells very much like Chanel No. 5, with strong notes of jasmine and musk. As mask wears on the face, the scent remains and the mask starts to create a menthol-type cooling sensation on the face. The mask fits poorly in the eyes, but otherwise fits well. Will repurchase for scent and gel texture. This mask is definitely a favourite of mine for the senatorial experience versus the results, as I definitely felt bougie AF wearing it. I will monitor it closely as I Iuse it more in the future to see if it has any more benefits other than basic hydration.

Regen Absolute Gold Foil Mask // Product here
Out of all the foil masks I’ve tried and own, this one is my favourite. It fits surprisingly well for a foil mask, and is lined with a charcoal infused paper sheet mask. I got it for $12 for a box of 5 which seems to be really affordable for these foil type of masks, but it has since gone up in price on Amazon, I’m assuming due to it being a fairly nice mask. This one is great for skintertainment purposes (perfect sheet mask selfie!) but I also feel like due to the fit and lining that it is a generally good mask as well.

    SPECIAL MENTION

    My Scheming Masks
  • All the My Scheming Masks I use have tons of essence and they are super cheap making them a win-win.

    SHEET MASK-ADJACENT PRODUCTS

Silicone Sheet Mask Mask //. product here
  • These are great to layer over your regular paper/cotton sheet masks as it traps the moisture in and prevents the cotton from drying out. It’s a mask for your sheet mask 😀 But if you have a Daiso near you, but it from there as it is only $1.50

Sheet Mask Warmer // product here
  • So someone shared this the other day on Reddit and I had to buy it. It is a warmer for your sheet masks. A lot of people love the chilly coolness of sheet masks, but I really don’t like the cold feeling. I like warm cups of tea and heated neck warmers and those sort of things so cold stuff on my face just kinda jolts me a bit in an unpleasant way. I notice if I take a hot shower prior to starting my routine I don’t mind the chill of a sheet mask, but on most nights when I’m just going straight into my routine without showering, I really can’t stand the chill. Especially since winter is coming. So I bought this product. If you love the chill, disregard this product suggestion.

Compressed Sheet Masks // product here
  • If you ever have a sheet mask that you really like and it comes with tons of extra essence, you could throw one of these compressed sheet masks into the package with the extra essence and ziploc it up and use it the next day as well. Just don’t keep it for more than a day or two. Alternatively, if you have any favourite essences or toners in a bottle, you could make a diy Sheet Mask with your bottled products with these compressed masks. Again, if you have a Daiso near you, purchase them from there as you get a bunch for only $1.50.

    Edit: typos

I use it and helps a lot. It's safe for sensitive skin, but not meant for dry skin because the mask will dry on your face. If you have really sensitive skin, then this is not meant for those groups. Afterwards you will need to wash the mask off with warm water. Reduce pores, reduce scars, and put oily in check a bit. I used it once or twice a week.

I'm in the same boat. Usually I'm a hydrated oil slick but baby has dried out my skin something awful

I've been using Marula oil + Klairs vitamin c serum in am/pm post toner. Before bed I use Weleda Skin Food – (this stuff is crazy!! I put it on my elbows, knees, and feet and cuticles too), then seal it in with that oil/serum combo. Some nights I mix Skin Food w/ Drunk Elephant B Hydra

I use rotation of My Beauty Diary Squalene or Mexico Cactus, and Papa Recipe Bombee Honey mask

Um, thank you so damn much for that link! I have honestly never been able to find a product like this (clearly I have never known what to search for...I always put hydrosol). I mean, looking at the ingredients, I see no reason why this wouldn't be an option for skincare. Other options I have thought of using is buying some disposable sheet masks and dipping them in cooled, fresh brewed green tea. Obviously, this is something that would have to be used immediately to prevent bacteria growth...but I am stoked as smoked to try this! Thank you and sorry for the gushing...but DAMN, I'm so happy right now.

Does she use any skincare (not makeup, but lotions, etc) currently? Ideally we suggest things based on a person's skintype, current products, etc.

A good bet would be some sheet masks - a paper mask with a serum on it you use for 20-30 minutes - they come in a variety of flavors and are one-time use. Unfortunately, you're cutting it close and most of whats available in a timely matter from amazon will be Korean/Taiwanese (if she's picky about japanese stuff).

Some amazon options are:

Personally, I think your current routine isn't looking too bad. You may want to consider using something a bit less stripping as a face wash on your oily days, have you tried the CVS cleanser on your oily days as well?

For the dry days, maybe add a hydrating toner after your spot treatment. The Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion is pretty popular (and I've had great success with it) or the Kikumasamune Sake Skin Lotion is another great option and is fantastic for repairing the moisture barrier. You could also try adding a sheet mask (something like this or this) after your entire routine, or before you apply your oil.

Hope that helps!

Hi and welcome! I tried answering earlier, but Reddit wasn't connecting for me. I know you already got some good advice from teddy, but in case you want more information or someone else it reading, here is what i wrote:

There are many things to help you on your quest for brightness! I got completely carried away here as this is the first comment I haven't address acne/dehydration in a looooooong time. Got a bit too excited looking at a different subject. So hopefully you find it helpful still!

First thing is that you definitely do NOT need to be washing your face 4 times per day plus the 1-2 extra times per week, which is what you would be doing with the two aveeno cleansers and Nip+Fab. In general, the best cleansers for your skin are pH-balanced (maintains your skin's acid mantle and general skin health) and are as gentle as possible. In basic routines, washing the skin is actually the most irritating step. For most people, washing their face as little as possible is best (barring things like getting physically covered in dirt). For example, with my drier skin I only wash my face with a cleanser about 3 times per week...I rinse with water in the mornings, and when I shower in the evening I do the oil cleanse method.

Second, if you are starting chemical exfoliation, you should be wearing sunscreen every day. UV still travels through the clouds and the sun still shines in winter! Glycolic and lactic acids make you sun sensitive so wearing a daily sunscreen is a necessity! (also I would take a look at EltaMD UV 46Spf. It has niacinamide which is good for evening skin tone...but it is a separate product rather than incorporated in your moisturizer).

So! What to do!

  1. The Aveeno cleanser isn't bad...I am slightly wary as it has added fragrance and sodium lauryl sulfate (and a bit of mica to make you sparkle. Just a bit! it's not glitter, but that's where the 'radiance' comes from I think), but it can definitely work for you. Alternatives: CosRx Good Morning Gel Cleanser (here), or the Innisfree Blueberry Cleanser (here). Or even just a basic CeraVe Foaming Cleanser. The CosRx has tea tree oil, so it might end up being too drying if you skin is sensitive to the tea tree.

  2. For your exfoliation, I would definitely go with a leave on product (either swipe pad-style or a serum). Washes tend to not be effective as they don't spend a long time on the skin. But if you are worried about the strength of a leave on product, do short-contact therapy and just rinse your face with water after 5-10min of applying your chemical exfoliant. Using a gentle chemical exfoliant will actually provide a more even exfoliation and is more gentle than physical scrubs, which are dependent on things like how hard you push on the skin and how wet your skin is while scrubbing. One very popular product to consider is the Neogen Gauze Peeling Pads (here). It's a very gentle chemical exfoliant on a double sided pad which gives you a bit of chemical, a bit of physical. It also comes in three 'flavors'. Other options: Nip + Fab 5% glycolic pads (here). Or for serum style, the is the 5 or 10% lactic acid serums from The Ordinary. Or it you want to spend A LOT of money...Sunday Riley Good Genes is a raved about product with lactic acid. Lactic acid is larger molecule size than glycolic, so it is more gentle...I would say the 10% would be on par with a 5-8% glycolic. For a gentle physical only exfoliant, I would look at the Skinfood Rice Wash Off here. The grains of the scrub are quite large and rice is supposedly a brightening ingredient! But you can also just use a cloth in the shower to physically exfoliate (remember! No more than 1-2 times per week!). When watching over over-exfoliation keep an eye out for lingering redness, stinging when you apply products, excess dryness and a general feeling of your skin being like 'plastic wrap'. Redness and irritation start first, so if that starts to linger, just stop exfoliating for a while and focus on moisturizing!

  3. The Kiehl's Vit C is a good starter Vit C. Just remember to put it on bare skin directly after cleansing and even before your chemical exfoliants if you happen to use them in the same day. Vit C. was my favorite powerhouse ingredient in terms of evening skin tone. I now use the Drunk Elephant Day-Firma, but it's a bit expensive for a first jump in.

  4. A good moisturizer in general will make your skin look healthier/brighter, so I do recommend moisturizing in the PM as well as the AM. A good moisturizer will also help you handle any irritation that might arise from exfoliation, cleanser, dry weather, etc.... Also, something with niacinamide specifically might provide more benefit. Options with niacinamide: CeraVe PM (oldie, but goodie!), Beaty of Joseon Dynasty Cream, CosRx Overnight Rice Spa Mask, Mizon black snail all in one cream, Ponds Clarant B3 (2 versions here I think, one for dry, one for oily skin).

Absolutely optional things (getting deep into skincare addiction here)

Niacinamide is another great product for evening out skin tone and helps with the appearance of wrinkles! It also improves ceramide production in the skin which strengthens your moisture barrier and can make your skin look more bouncy/healthy. I would consider a niacinamide serum...Something like Stratia Rewind (only available here on their website) or the Holy Snails Shark Sauce. They both have licorice root extract which helps with skintone as well.

If you want another hit of licorice brightening, you can take a look at the Acwell 5.5 Licorice toner. This would be applied after your actives (chemical exfoliants/vitamin c), before serums and moisturizers. Some people do a '7-skin' method of layering on this type of hydrating toner to really give your skin a big drink of water! Of course you don't have to do a full seven layers, but even 2-3 might give you that extra little sumthin' sumthim' of bouncy, bright skin!

Also First Treatment Essences...they are essentially very watery layers applied just after your actives, before toners. They contain a yeast extract that some absolutely people swear by to get dat glow! The classic here is the SK-II FTE, but it costs like a million bucks. The Missha FTE or the Secret Key Rose Edition are dupes. The CosRx Galatomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence is also similar (in asian brands they often use the word whitening in place of brightening..don't be alarmed, it is not a skin bleach!).

    -------------------------------------------

Anyways, I'm rambling on now. I hope you find something useful in there! Remember, you know your skin best, so please ignore advice that won't work for you. Good luck!

I love LuLuLun Pink - I use them everyday in the winter when my skin needs the extra moisture. They're not individually packaged, so it's important to: a) use tweezers to fish out the masks and minimize contamination and b) transfer the pack to something like a Snaplock container to keep them moist. Following those two mandates, I've never had any trouble with them.

u/meriendaselgato · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

They are sheet masks. They are single-use masks made out of thin sheets of fabric that are soaked in serum/"essence" which will have different benefits depending on the specific mask you use. In general, you leave them on from 15 minutes to an hour and most of them are meant to be extremely hydrating/moisturizing. They are for all skin types but you should, as always, be aware of ingredients your skin doesn't like. For example, some sheet mask brands contain denatured alcohol, which my skin DOES NOT like. If you are sensitive to fragrance, sheet masks may not be for you as they typically are scented.

Although they have infiltrated western beauty brands, the most popular sheet masks are imported from South Korea, Taiwan, or Japan. They don't seem to be a big part of mainstream SCA canon yet, but they are extremely popular over at /r/AsianBeauty if you want to find reviews and recommendations. A very well-liked brand is My Beauty Diary (the crowd favorite is Black Pearl; I like Mexico Cactus) as well as Tosowoong. The Propolis one has a cult following for healing skin woes and smelling exactly like honey. TonyMoly masks irritate my skin. I typically buy my sheet masks from Amazon. I find that they really help soften my skin and give me a glow. My acne-prone, combination/oily skin loves masks.

Go get a couple of her favorite movies on dvd/blu-ray, some nice chocolates, maybe a bottle of wine, this fuzzy throw because it's a cat magnet, and maybe a couple of sheet masks. Put it all in a basket and you've got a nice gift that includes a cozy date night.

Alternatively, take a trip to Ojai for hiking + wine tasting. There are even some groupon deals for tastings.

u/ichooseyoueevee · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I think that's a special one off mask, considering its almost $4 for one Mask.

The regular black pearl masks are always available on amazon prime! You get 10 in a box.

I'm male, 26. I put nothing on my acne while my face was healing. I'll still occasionally get a pimple when I get complacent and sleep on my side or stomach. I usually try to do nothing for as long as possible, but if it seems to be getting a bit oily, I'll use a tiny dab of this for spot treatment:

http://www.amazon.com/AcneFree-Sulfur-Mask-Therapeutic-1-7/dp/B003K75SDY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344394332&sr=8-1&keywords=Acnefree+Sulfur+Mask

It's very gentle and doesn't dry the area excessively, like salicylic acid or BP would. I'll only use it once or twice in total for a single troublesome pimple, and I only leave it on for about 10 minutes.

I started seeing results within a day or so after I stopped washing my face and treating it with topicals. As my face started to dry out, the acne started to fade extremely quickly. I was very surprised. However, I've read about different reactions as the skin returns to equilibrium. For me, my face dried out, but for others, I've heard it can get extremely oily for a day or two.

Didn't change anything in my diet, although I have been trying to snack less on things that may not necessarily be all that great for me. I've started eating more fruit too because it's cheap, delicious, and nutritious.

My acne severity varied depending on what regimen I was using at the time. One time I had so much cystic acne that it slightly deformed part of my face temporarily due to the bulging. With the last regimen I was on (the one given to me by the dermatologist, which incidentally used the most products of any regimen I had ever tried before), I had about 15-20 pimples at any given time, and my face felt like crap. After washing and applying the topicals and moisturizers, my face would feel okay, then within the next few hours, I'd be dripping with oil. So then I'd have to wash AGAIN, which irritated my skin more. And so on with the cycle.

Now my face feels great all day. Never too dry or too oily. It just needed some time to return to its equilibrium, now that it's not constantly being attacked by a smorgasbord of chemicals.

If you live here in the United States, Amazon had great prices on stuff like this. From personal experience, I like the quality of Anker. I have used their after market batteries in my old Note 2 (bought the batteries last year and they still work and charge just fine) with no issues at all. I also use their home and car chargers and USB cables with no issues. Right now, you can get 2 batteries and a battery charger for $21.99.

Edit: I typically buy directly from Amazon and use my Prime membership for shipping.

I use an inexpensive primer I found on Amazon that I like better than Smashbox called Emori, not sure if it's AB or not.

My current routine (this is one week after I got the giant Tarte box with everything) is typically Skinfood Salmon concealer (my favorite concealer so far, creamier but stays, ousted Boiing), Aqua Petit Jelly BB in the lighter version- usually I use my fingers or one of those toothbrush brushes), Peripera or Etude tints as I mentioned with my ulta tinted balm, the TonyMoly powder which as I said blew me away, I have eyelash extensions so nothing there, and I have a cushion blush in a tube that I like a lot but I just got the other powder blush I mentioned. I also have and like the Missha cushion, but I like Aqua Petit Jelly more.

Waiting on this because I love this brand, it's a cotton candy setting spray?

Sorry that wasn't more enlightening but it has links :) I was just surprised to be AS entranced by AB makeup as I am by AB skincare because I was a MUA for a long time and have always been a product junkie and now I use my stupid expensive stuff on days I'm not going anywhere :O

Most android phones have replaceable batteries, I have one of these for my S4.

Yeah, I definitely agree that it's pricey, but it's lasted me over a year. I just put on a really thin layer because it works just as well as slathering it on. I might put a little more around my T-zone, but other than that, a little goes a long way!

On a separate note, I've also heard many good things about this Skin Food Rice Mask. I'm thinking of getting it next, and it's a lot less pricey, too!

My beauty routine is something I look forward to each day, its kind of soothing and relaxing for me and I find its nice for me to take time out of my day to do something I enjoy. However, as others have said, work towards YOUR best skin, not others! If you feel that you need to do 2 sheet masks a day for hydration purposes, consider using a sleeping pack or a more hydrating essence like the skinfood royal honey line. These sheet masks by LuLuLun are relatively inexpensive as well https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QF01GU2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1U99YKAYHJ6DJ&coliid=I2X9YYO9KU3IO9

I think that the best "big" number of sheet masks would have to be, just generally, Japanese brands of masks. Lululun masks are usually a pack of 7 for ~6 USD? There are also some that are dispensed like tissues by companies like Kose and Sana. My personal favorite in terms of effectiveness and cost is the Loshi Horse Oil 7-day mask pack. I got it for maybe 5 USD on sale and I saw daily improvement when I used it day after day.

This is 42 Lululun masks for 23 dollars USD on Prime.

This is 32 Sana masks (soymilk version!) for 18 dollars.

This is the mask that I was referring to.

I recommend you add Thayers Witch Hazel, use this after you wash your face. It has good reviews. It cleanses and moisturizes skin. Its alcohol free and has Aloe Vera. It does have a soft rose fragrance. Even adding a benzoyl peroxide cream to put all over your face to help kill the acne causing bacteria could be beneficial. The vitamin C I would do at night I would put that on before the moisturizer and let it soak in for a bit then moisturize.

Another thing you could try are sulfur masks, it looks like you have cysts to a certain extent. Sulfur masks helped my cystic acne and blackheads whiteheads etc. If your skin isn't sensitive I'd recommend you try it. Use it once or twice a week. Acne free has a sulfur mask.

Clay masks are definitely good for oily skin, but since you said you have combination skin, you might use clay masks for oily parts. Honestly, if you don't have any problem using clay masks no matter what your skin profile is, you're fine. I have dry skin and I use clay masks occasionally.

If you're into the mask-a-day method like somebody mentioned earlier, their masks specifically the snail kind are great. Really thick and saturated. Also this toner is really nice, has a crapton of niacinamide, tea extracts and magnolia. If you still get acne, they have a tea tree line that I've heard great things about. They're based in Taiwan? I think, but that's good if you live in the Philippines (which I only assume from your post history, sorry in advance if I'm wrong!!!!!!)

I usually buy masks that come in large containers instead of individually wrapped. Better for my wallet and better for the environment. For example, [these okay ones are about 50 cents each] (https://www.amazon.com/KOSE-Clear-Essence-Hyaluronic-Facial/dp/B005C2NLDE), and these [better quality ones are about 65 cents each] (https://www.amazon.com/Quality-First-Sheet-Moist-Count/dp/B00SVAL9BA). They are inferior to the classic single wrapped masks, so I use a reusable silicone mask cover on top to make up some of the difference

u/themodgepodge · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I'm kind of in your boat. When I switched from the pill to a hormonal IUD (Mirena), I got this really weird neck breakout (I'd never had acne on my neck before). The breakout started in mid July, lasted around 1.5 months. It was never severe, just oddly placed for me and persistent. I love my IUD and super light periods that come maybe every 2-3 months, and, like you, I'm not good at taking the pill on time. So I figured I'd do my best to attack the acne, even when I kind of knew the cause.

Try out the beginner's routine linked in the sidebar. Don't go too crazy adding multiple products at once in case one breaks you out or is irritating. For example, CeraVe "in the tub" (cream) is a holy grail for many people on this sub, but it gives me horrendous acne.

If you stick with the BP/tret scrip, find a moisturizer and sunscreen that work well for you. Both of those ingredients are known to work quite well, but they can be pretty irritating, especially in the first ~4 weeks, and tret is photosensitizing (i.e. makes your skin burn and get damaged more readily). Also give them time to work. Retinoids like tretinoin can often take up to 12 weeks for a positive effect. BP tends to work much faster. Use a thin layer of the tret, and if it's too irritating scale back to every other day until you tolerate it better.

Regarding product recommendations: BP and tret will dry you out and irritate your skin at first. Stay with very gentle products. If you're interested in the oil cleansing mentioned in the sidebar (whether or not you follow it up with a foamy cleanser), that can be pretty gentle and non-drying. Otherwise, a gentle cleanser. Don't add any new topicals for now. Your skin will be kind of pissed off at you for a bit while it gets used to the BP and tret. Moisturize, a lot. I've had terrible luck finding moisturizers that don't break me out - cerave cream felt fantastic but broke me out like crazy. I now use (and adore) this Hada Labo "lotion" (more like a thin gel, but works fantastically) and, at night before bed, top it with a water-soaked compressed mask to give the hyaluronic acid in the lotion lots of moisture to pull in, since the air is super dry where I am right now. For sunscreens, I love love love Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence. Be sure and patch test that one if you try it out, since there's some alcohol in there that could be irritating on top of the tret. In terms of topicals, I have a niacinamide/azelaic acid/clindamycin combo from Curology that has worked wonders for me. I've used BP and retinoids in the past and my skin was just too sensitive for them.

My current routine (Curology topical + keep everything else gentle + finding a moisturizer that doesn't break me out) has really helped with the acne I suspected was from my switch to the IUD!

Me gustan las fragancias en general, aunque trato de limitarme a la hora de comprar porque son costosas.

Después gracias a convivir varios años con las 2 mujeres más importantes de mi vida, apareció la necesidad de un baño de crema semanal.
