Ok here's the plan.
hasmat suit 7.50
Mesh tape 3.99
rubber gloves 5.99
Weapon 1.99
Total: 19.47
Suit up, mesh tape gap in gloves and over face hole. Swat at ants like my life depends on it. It's going to be a tough fight with such a constrained budget but it's the best plan I can come up with under budget. I splurged on better gloves since the low weapon budget left me with a rather short melee weapon.
A slightly higher budget would have allowed me to suit up and spread Diatomaceous earth $12.97 (replace the gloves with cheaper ones and skip the swatter) instead of resorting to melee attacks. 30 bucks would greatly increase my chances as survival as i could spread it around and just avoid the ants as best i could.
If survival isn't a win condition then
undiluted Bifen i/t $16.02
spray bottle $2.24
total: $18.26
This shit is serious stuff. Cover all the floor surfaces as wide i can. No ants will survive the room for the next few years.
Amazon reviews are not that good. https://www.amazon.com/Deck-Home-Universal-Sprayer-Cleaning/dp/B00OO1NW4C
There are many many options for housing a salamander. Nobody knows has a better internet presence for keeping them then the folks at caudata.org as mentioned by u/ye_ol_chuckaboo below. They have a helpful forum where you can get info advice and answers to questions. they also have care-sheets. So i suggest you spend soem time looking there.
Some simple ideas would start with something like:
go get a 40 gallon aquarium or larger. or 3 - 4 foot plastic storage box or like this
whatever you use it will need a lid to keep things out and the salamander inside but it must allow air to pass through
the main thing here is that it doesnt need to be more than 15 inches tall but should have as much surface area (footprint) as possible. A good minimum is about 4 - 4.5 square feet. or anything at or above the "40 gallon size " on the standard US tank sizes chart here
buy some organic untreated (chemical free, fertilizer free) topsoil from a garden store.
plan to use at least 6 - 8 inches of soil at the bottom

order several cork bark hides like this logs or half logs will be good to partially bury and to keep on the surface so the animal can choose a hide.

get a *large* smooth sided glass ceramic water bowl like this or like this

use only smooth objects stones, smooth glass ceramic, plastic. no gravel no sharp rocks no sharp wood.
Moss and plants can help add humidity and attractiveness.
a water mister bottle is helpful to have around

feel free to ask any specific questions
You should easily be able to find a 2-quart hand pump sprayer: Amazon link to a $9 cheapie, but I wonder if it will foam properly. If not there are more expensive versions that specifically mention foam, like this $33 one from The Rag Company
I actually didn't tally up the cost as that wasn't really of a concern to me, but I'll try my best to provide links to the things I bought for this. Feel free to add it up for me!
I also bought various tools, like crimpers, Dremel kit, drill, etc, but I don't consider those to be project-specific as I'll have them for the foreseeable future. Let me know if there's anything you see that you think I missed!
Yeah exactly like this, except the one I bought cost me £7 (~$10) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spear-Jackson-Action-Pressure-Sprayer/dp/B00RD0KTZQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479924081&sr=8-1&keywords=insecticide+sprayer
I use a pressure sprayer for gardens that has a knob on the spraying faucet/exit hole which you can turn for any kind of spray from really fine water like winter breath to like a straight line so I use it on 1 up from winter breath so like a barber's spray type.
Mix 1 tbsp of sensitive handwash soap in 1 litre of water.
Here's a link of a similar product: https://www.amazon.com/Large-Pressurized-Plant-Mister-Sprayer/dp/B07BL5PPYN/ref=sr_1_10
The nozzle has a screw type thing, you turn that to change shape of water.
Oh btw, we don't have diatom... earth here in stores or I don't know the local name in our language so I find this easier.
Just spray it around dry. The bottle used looks like this, or this.
I use a pump sprayer to water. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QTHF9ZT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i do like a quick 3-4 second squirt to moisen the topsoil, and i would do the same just directed at the base of the plant when it shows signs of being underwatered
I like using an $8 hand pump pressure sprayer. With an adapter you can attach a ball lock post to it.
here is the style...amazon link
Thank you for the info!! I bought a handheld garden sprayer, and it’s like a manual pump https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GC9XWNG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KLOmDbZS3DGJG
I didn’t know that combining crossfire and cimexa was bad; would it be okay if I sprayed crossfire along the edge of my walls? Or should I just spray my mattress, headboard, and other furniture in my room and then line the walls with cimexa
Thank you again for your help!
Blue Spray Marker - (8 Ounces) - Weed Spray Dye, Herbicide Dye, Fertilizer Marking Dye, Turf Mark and Blue Herbicide Marker, Organic Herbicide Marking https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077B7KBMC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Y3dxDb6N5SYC6
This worked amazing for me, I used I believe 1oz in a 2 gallon tank sprayer and worked amazing, only $10 for 8oz ould definitely buy again. Good luck.
Having a table at camp will make you feel human! It helps to have stuff up off the ground especially if you are cooking. Also a pump mister like the one I linked to will be great to help cool off and make new friends!

The best thing to do is to look at pinterest or google for festival camping checklists, that way you can be sure to be fully prepared! A little preparation can make the difference between an amazing experience or a sun baked hell.
Most importantly though is to bring good vibes!!! Can't wait to see you on the farm!!
Update - So I believe the Spray gun is a Teejet 3015. Still unclear if it would work for snow foam.

Backpack with a battery used to spray weed killer.
Get about 5 of those and fill em with the strongest acid that they can hold. Spray that hairy bastard down. Go for the face first.

Seriously worth it best sprayers I’ve used! Will last unlike the cheap ones
Just when I thought I didn't need anything else, you remind me of a personal mister. I was going to get a big garden variety one to double as a shower but I have a shower bag. The personal ones are much more portable. [This] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016NAWKAI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) arrives tomorrow!
The sprayer looks like it doesn't have any booms, just a wand.... you'd probably want a sprayer like this Tow Behind Boom Sprayer
I just did a quick search for this Granular Pre Emergent that claims it covers 20,000 sq ft..
Reading the label, it looks like Dimension/dithiopyr does not prevent lavender or clover, so maybe spraying would be the better option for multiple products...
"Possible herbicide selections for pre-emergent clover control include isoxaben, napropamide, oxadiazon, oryzalin, pendimethalin and pronamide."
I'm not seeing anything for lavender control.
How about this one for ~170?
Ironton Tow-Behind Broadcast and Spot Sprayer - 13 Gallon, 1 GPM, 12 Volt DC https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00XA3NUXI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_GV6xCb4T90V98
I have 26k sq ft and stupidly bought a manual backpack sprayer last year. Looking at upgrading to this vs buying a battery powered backpack sprayer, as I have a zero turn that I can use to tow this thing
