driving gloves!! not really necessary, I just saw Drive once and decided they'd make me look cool. don't remember the exact brand but something like these

u/sheenstyles · 3 pointsr/bowhunting

These combined with a a muff like this and hand warmers and I’ve hunted down to -10 F.

They are cheap and give you almost bare handed dexterity. For like 50 cents more a pair you can get ones that work with smart phones too.

I got a pair of thin acrylic gloves from my running store years ago. Magic. Something like these. I have poor circulation in my hands, so I pretty much always need to wear something at 50 or below. They stay warm enough and dry. I have a heavier pair of Under Armour gloves but keep them for under 30 only.

These gloves. The brown, cashmere-lined ones.

u/JapanimeMind · 2 pointsr/CosplayHelp

My question is how accurate are you wanting to make your cosplay? Are you okay with some minor details being left out or does the cosplay have to have full details?

I ask this because some certain items are tailored/ sewn/ made to be that way for the show (like the blazer). So it can hard to replicate.

I'm looking at the gloves, and the thumbs look like they're black. I found a pair of red leather gloves here on Amazon.

Here are a pair of (faux?) leather shoes, they have the pointed toe and a relatively close design, just not the color. If you plan on using these, and add some cushions in the ankle of the cosplay shoes so you can wear them a little longer. Please, please, please make sure to have a back up pair of comfy shoes. You being comfortable and able to walk by the end of the day without your Achilles tendons about ready to snap in half is more important than a cosplay. Don't leave a convention in pain.

This website has step by step instructions, and tells you exactly what to use to properly paint over leather. You can also find YT tutorials if you feel like this doesn't give enough info.

As for the blazer, I would go with a solid, dark navy/ royal blue with a black trim for the collar. I suggest looking for local tailor shops if they have anything similar, as well as getting measured so you have accurate fitting sizes. If you can't find anything down that route, I'd suggest looking at Men's Warehouse, Burlington, The Suit Depot and many others to find what you're looking for.

I haven't worn them long enough to give much feedback

I wear something like >this< which can get me down to about 35 degrees. Below that I use ski gloves.

u/oh_nice_marmot · 2 pointsr/running

I got these a few months ago and have been very pleased with them. However, if you're truly broke I don't think you need "sport gloves". Any thick mittens or knit gloves should do, they just won't wick sweat as well/be as wind resistant. Also make your hands a bit warm before putting the gloves on and stepping outside. Easier to insulate than generate heat while you're outside.

Eat rice for carbs. No simple carbs. I'm not expert but some of my running friends scolded me for saying I'm eating donuts all weekend before my first HM to carbo load. They said to stick to complex carbs like rice. So that's my Saturday dinner plan!

You need to figure out layering for the race and what works for you.

At 45 degrees, I'd normally be running in shorts, a running t-shirt and zippered rain jacket (light weight running type) along with a baseball hat. You'll hat up during the run and want to unzipper. ACtually, I'd consider a long sleeve shirt instead at 45.

You might want gloves too, that depends on you though. I love the kind of gloves that have the finger flap thing so they convert to finger less easily. And something light weight so I can expose my palms too. Your hands can get surprisingly warm with normal gloves on.

These things are awesome (tempted to order a new pair right now!) They are good for me in the 25 to 50 degree range. Under 25 degrees and I need to move to something more heavy duty:

I'm from Colorado so pretty acclimated to the cold, but that's about what I wear in single digits...maybe even less if it's not windy. For 29F I'd wear a t-shirt and a pretty thin 1/4-zip sweatshirt, maybe midweight by most company's measures, and probably some running pants with no shorts underneath, just in case the wind kicks up. I'd bring a superlight shell jacket for the wind on long runs, because the wind can go from 0 to 20mph in no time up here.

I mainly rely on gloves and head covering to manage body temp. For gloves, I've settled on the JackRabbit Dutch as the best balance for most runs because they have thin material over the fingers but a windproof mitten shell. If my hands get sweaty, I can slide off the mitten and let them dry out a bit, then pull the shell back over before they get cold. SmartPhone covering on the fingertips works well in the 20s/30s but gets finicky in the teens. As someone else said, sometimes I'll run in a t-shirt and these gloves.

For head covering, I'd probably go with nothing at 29F, and an earband only at 29F and windy. I'd bring along a beanie in case it got colder, or if I had to stop running for some reason and didn't want to dump all my heat and start shivering. I very rarely wear a hood because I want all the heat/moisture rising off my torso to escape.

At around 20-25F I'll add an IceBreaker merino buff, mainly to deal with the wind. Any colder and I might pull it up over the back of my head to act so it covers my neck...kinda like a hood but with more flexibility.

I go with these. You can even have the mitten on 3 fingers and have one kind of poking out to unlock your phone.

You can put your hands in your coat pockets also but there's no pocket for your face.

In Indiana. On the colder days wore a cheap fingerless thinsulate mitten (the mitten and the thumb can be folded back if needed...rarely needed) on my left hand. On my right hand I'd wear a variety of gloves. My favorite was a neoprene like ski glove with tacky finger pads and palm. I like a fairly tight flexible glove on my hand.

Remember to go a little lighter with the flats on your arm and dps in your hand on the sub-zero days. Restricting the blood flow too much can make your fingers go numb quick.

They are great not overly expensive, wash easy, and keep me super warm. I'm actually a woman but I mean black gloves are pretty unisex imo. I would definitely repurchase but they hardly even show any use.

I prefer a full glove so I don't develop any calluses from weights or rings. Something like this that's designed for the purpose is a bit pricey but a good pair of work gloves can be sufficient.

it's cold but not insanely cold yet. when polar vortex hits, then everyone that has ultra warm gloves will be laughing
