A lot (most?) Vietnamese restaurants in the US will use Cafe Du Monde brand. It's a French roast with Chicory added. You can find it on Amazon but I usually buy mine from the Asian market. A lot of restaurants will doctor it up though with some cocoa, hot chocolate powder, other coffee blends, etc.

Just an fyi, you can use a phin to make a cup or two, but I use my french press to make a larger quantity. You don't get the cool slow drip effect, but it's just about as good.

You can make a delicious cafe con leche at home!

To accomplish this you can also use cafe bustelo supreme, and you can also use cafe pilon or even cafe britt, or cafe 1800 etc.

The leche part you can boil in a saucepan. and yes, you do need to use whole milk, no you cannot microwave the milk, it does not taste the same.

Now you need to make the "essencia de cafe" which is the espresso part.

There are a couple of ways you can accomplish this. You can get a chorreador de cafe. Don't fall for all the gimmicks. Yes, french pressed coffee tastes good, but to make the espresso type, you don't need that. You just need the chorreador, the coffee and boiling hot water.

or you can get one of these which are now easy to get. follow directions and you are golden.

keep in mind that you are making espresso so it NEEDS to be strong. VERY strong . You are only going to use a little of it, mix it with boiling milk that you already poured into your coffee cup, mix, add sugar and enjoy!

You should buy either an Armenian or Greek brand specifically for this type of coffee. The flavor is completely different from regular American coffee, you probably won't like it made with regular old Folgers. As a Greek I'd recommend Loumidis, it's a green package with a bunch of brown coffee beans at the bottom of it, it's the most popular amongst Greeks. Tastes great. Put it in a a small tin on a stove top for like 3/5 minutes, once it starts bubbling up it's done. Don't leave it in for too long or you'll burn it. Pour into small cup of choice, and don't drink the whole thing because the coffee grinds will make a small pile at the base of the cup, and eating it is like getting sand in your mouth.

I would recommend this product then. It's the same amount of work as a regular coffee maker and it works with standard course store bought coffee.

No problem. It should say coarse grind and the bag should be brown on the side with the yellow in the middle. This was my go to coffee when I started making cold brew and I didn’t have a grinder. Also, I’m pretty sure they only offer coarse grind coffee with the two types I mentioned above. Here’s a link for it

At home put 5 Equals and 8 creams in your own cup. Go to McDonald's and order your coffee black. Pour McDonald's coffee into your prepared cup.

Alternatively they sell McCafe grounds now so you can make it yourself.

Don't know how much you have experimented with ground coffee. There are plenty of lower cost options. Even Dunkin' Donuts is only $5 a pound if you buy it at their stores. *Have to buy 4 1 pound bags to get the $5 a bag/pound price.

We make an entire pot and then refrigerate it in a seal pitcher. I drink it cold and my wife reheats it.

Eat our feelings? Now that's my kind of contest, Snickerdoodles! lol

This is the new addiction I've acquired to fill the void left when I quit Dr. Pepper... lol

I seem to have a knack for somehow finding an even more addictive thing after I give up one addictive thing...lol

I don't want to vent too much because I'm sick of hearing myself complain about being sick, etc, lol. But I've been escaping to Middle Earth again via LOTRO cause it's the Halloween festival there right now! Unfortunately... it is quite a time suck! lol

I know this response is horribly late (and I'm still not sure what typical reddit etiquette is regarding old threads). But here is my (more or less) full list of items I buy from Amazon Japan.

The rules here for what goes on my list: 1. Only keto, diet, or supplement related items. 2. Only items I've bought at least twice, and which I plan on buying again in the future:

That's ~$0.40/oz cheaper than Death Wish. No idea why amazon has that labeled as $1.76/oz b/c 400g is about 14oz. 12.39/14=$0.89/oz compared to death wish at 19.99/16=$1.25/oz. Even with the 15% off coupon that's there right now for death wish it's more expensive.

There are plenty of blends too on amazon that are much cheaper than $20/lb. I don't know what you're look at that you can't find cheaper options. Look here: https://smile.amazon.com/s?k=robusta+coffee&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

Black Insomnia coffee. I'm not responsible if you die after one cup, 700+ mg of caffeine is a shitload of caffeine.

Like, you shouldn't even try this unless you have a decent caffeine tolerance already built up.

u/rockpapersucker · 2 pointsr/Coffee

Are you only interested in instant? Because you can purchase their ground coffee

https://www.amazon.com/McCafe-Coffee-Ground-Medium-Roast/dp/B00QSOT7A6/ref=sr_1_6_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1473687567&sr=1-6&keywords=mccafe

I'm not sure how those particular brands taste, not a lot of people here use instant. Starbucks VIA is probably the best instant around IIRC.

u/swroasting · 2 pointsr/Coffee

It's produced by Nestle and says the only thing in it is coffee. Possibly some roast profiles you aren't used to. Also, it could be flavors distinctive of your brewing method. Or the coffee could be old, stale, or rancid. Even though you cannot name the flavor, can you describe what you are tasting?

I have to do a low acid coffee like Puroast if I'm going to to do BPC. (It tastes AMAZING with ghee)

u/ipod_leech · 2 pointsr/Coffee

There are only two coffees that I found, available around me, that I can use with a good level of success with regards to flavour and taste.

These are pre ground, no burr grinder here I rather buy pre ground than use my steel blade grinder.

Illy is GREAT but costly at almost 15 bucks at Williams Sonoma (my only physical source)

Bustelo does the trick, it has a incredibly strong aroma and nice flavour, and at 4 bucks at Walmart, it does the trick.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/keto

I'd start with the coffee first. If a coffee is too bitter to drink straight, you should probably switch. Not trying to promote a specific brand, but I've had great experience with this brand.

Once you have a good coffee, it only takes a tiny bit of other ingredients (i.e. creamer) to finish the coffee.

Personally, I do the Butter and Coconut or MCT Oil coffee. I also sometimes use a few drops of extracts like cinnamon oil or peppermint oil. Almond milk (unsweetened) can also be used.

It helps to have a good milk frother, or mini electric whisk.

u/bennybrew42 · 1 pointr/todayilearned

So 1 pound of deathwish is $19.99. You'd bet you would save money buying in bulk, like say two pounds. ^(Nope it's $86.74)

5 pounds is $80.00

How are you doing today?

Im going to tell you first what didn’t work for me: rizatriptan, butalbital, Percocet, and one toridol shot at the height of the pain.

Here’s what has worked for me, and I promise I’m not making this up: Benadryl+gelcap Naproxen+ maxwell House 1.75x caffeine coffee. On another occasion, toridol did abort a migraine in the nick of time.

I know it sounds insane- Percocet didn’t work but OTC stuff plus coffee did. But when you’re in pain, anything is worth a shot.

I believe they say to avoid coffee because of the acidity. I found some low acid coffee that I just love. It was different, much smoother but better than nothing!

Puroast coffee
70% less acid
Amazon has the best price. Its 9 US dollars for a small 12 oz bag.

Yas gurl. I'm Cuban, let me show you the hookup:

Your coffee maker and your coffee. That's what I use. Other coffee options include this one or this one.

Cuban? Get this and this. That is all.

I tried brewing one of these two years ago but ended up with the "green pepper" flavor. I'm 50/50 with being successful on coffee beers. I might need to take another run at the Bayou brunch stout. I used the Cafe Du Monde, below.
