I think, it is a "Fugenbürste". The translation i found is "joint brushing".

Hey,

They are indeed British surroundings. Good eye! I'm in sunny Kent with a south facing garden. I started them off on a window sill in a heated propagator around mid february : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Garland-Electric-Windowsill-Propagator-G51/dp/B000YA43HC
Those that looked big enough were put in the greenhouse at the beginning of April. I kept a close eye on the weather and ran a paraffin heater overnight when it got cold.
With the past week or so of sun they really had a growth spurt and I think all 16 plants now have budding flowers. I expect quite a few more of them to have opened by this weekend.

You need:

  • a plastic container to house them in. You can cut and mount some mesh screen in to the lid for air, mine are fine without though, they like humidity but you need to keep an eye on mold.
  • Substrate (traditionally paper egg cartons, but anything cardboard can work, like paper towel tubes, even burlap. They love the crevasses in egg cartons though!).
  • An under tank heating pad. They will live at room temp but they are most productive around 32C (90F) Simply place underneath your container.
  • Food and water dish. I like to use ceramic saucers meant to go under plant pots (these things) because they're low and the thick edge means they can easily climb in to the food.

  • Water crystals as a source of hydration (they will drown in liquid water). Don't bother getting the pre-watered "cricket quencher" in the pet area, get the bulk bags in the garden section (Link)
*You can also rely on produce as a source of hydration, aka carrots or celery or whatever. Just don't let them dry out!
  • Food. The food you use determines how nutritious they are. Table produce scraps are good but high moisture levels will mold so remove quickly. Finely ground dog, cat, or bird pellets work (I have birds too so I feed my roaches bird food XD). Companies also sell roach chow mixes. Remember that what you feed determines how nutritious the bugs are!
  • Oranges seem to inspire breeding!
  • Place the food and water on top of or next to but not underneath the substrate to keep the food free of mold.
  • Poop will accumulate on the bottom. It's a good fertilizer so dump it on some plants :). I just used a spare tank screen lid to sift babies out of the poop when I last cleaned the tank, worked like a charm.

Here's a place selling roaches that's in the UK! Google "dubia roaches UK" or something and check out what comes up :) If a place sells by weight and not number that is a better deal!

Unlike crickets dubias are very slow growing, and they take months to reach adulthood. Figure out what size you want to feed to your critters immediately and buy those. Or, If you don't mind waiting, you can buy mature males and females but you won't have babies to feed off for a while, one to several months depending on the size you need. You can also set up 2 containers, one with ready-to-feed roaches and one where adults make babies and you leave them alone for a while for the babies to mature.

    Roaches are super duper IMO!!

You should do a AMA on reddit . A Rake Handle Op would have a lot of interesting stories and experiences. Can you tell me what kind of rakes you used. Secondly would you laugh if I said this was my dream rake ! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-Expert-44983-Stainless-FSC-Certified/dp/B0012XRTMG/ref=sr_1_15/278-9512496-0780232?ie=UTF8&qid=1414835735&sr=8-15&keywords=garden+lawn+rake

But... pair in the middle are garden shears!

Edit: Technically multi-purpose shears. They get sold as hardware shears, gardening shears, or kitchen shears depending on the package they're put into, but it's the same product. However, they are never sold as fabric shears because they do not cut fabric well at all.

Those prints came out real nice!

But if you want a cleaner join, try some cheap high viscosity superglue like this stuff.

It bonds amazingly well with all PLA I've used. I think something in the PLA causes it to set/harden quickly because when you stick the parts together you get an amazingly short working time before they're not coming back apart.

Honestly, none of these recommendations are nearly as fun as CAD is for someone that doesn't play it often. CAD is pretty damn fun before it gets old (about 3 plays in), so you have to forgive non-gamers for enjoying it. You'll probably want games that are light weight for camping. No one goes camping to play chess. This mainly means party games.

A few others that might be good:

Right! He said the wrong thing, once. He should be tried and convicted by the baying mob of the internet. Screw what he has to say. He's obviously evil.

One of these might be useful

The pictured model is difficult/painful to open especially with gloves and/or long fingernails - the tiny roller to the left of the dial controls the opening latch.

We had one and it has now been replaced with this one which has two buttons on either side to open it:

i’d highly recommend the ‘a court of thorns and roses’ or the ‘throne of glass’ series! both have the same author, ACOTAR is about a girl thrown into the world of the fae and is honestly an amazing fantasy series with some of the best characters i’ve ever read about, and the throne of glass series is about a girl living in slavery who gets a second chance and we discover she isn’t who we thought she was (don’t want to give any spoilers🤷🏼‍♀️) it’s honestly also an amazing fantasy series aaaand the last book in the series just came out so there’s been no better time to start reading it😇 i read/have read loads of books so if you need/want more recommendations my messages are always open!

as for my wishlist, id love these as i really want to start making resin charms and decoden phone cases but can’t afford the materials atm🙈

I'm guessing UK based on spelling and phrasing ("storey" and "scuffed.") If you just want to be warm at your desk, this would probably work. Between computer heat and body heat, it may get too hot in there.

If not, an oil-filled radiator type space heater should be safe. I wouldn't do anything with high temps or open coils.

Remember to protect the floor under the legs if the floor is nice.

Hi Willyam, it would be great to see some pictures of your plot.

That double hoe is pretty cool, how would you use the fork end of it? Mine looks like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-88799-Carbon-Steel-Dutch/dp/B000QY309S/ref=sr_1_3?s=outdoors&ie=UTF8&qid=1407251690&sr=1-3

For your attempts that didn't get out of the soil, is that because of when you planted them (season) or did you read beforehand? I heard that this could be because of the type of nutrients on the soil but I honestly don't know enough yet.

I think I may attempt a variety like you did. It may be more fun that way and at least I'm not throwing all my eggs into one basket.

I use a cheap tie down strap like these. Easily strong enough for 20kg and cost me £1.50 for 2.

u/MrPieUK · 1 pointr/manchester

It's okay OP. While you're finding your secluded spots i can help you by linking you to a few items you might need on your trip. This and this should make your trip a little more easier!

Enjoy ;)

Get this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0032TCIQU/

Compressible, waterproof (not just water resistant), modular, comfortable to wear, and plenty of both internal and external pockets. Takes any MOLLE add-ons you want.

u/Cynical_lioness · 1 pointr/britishproblems

Your one's expensive. Mine costs around a quarter of yours and works well.
