Honestly getting her shit faced might be the best option. You can order a ring sizer offline for really cheap.

We just ordered my ring and we had such a hard time figuring out my size without that, and I was 100% in on it.

I bought this one and it was really accurate:

Ring Sizer Mandrel and Ring Sizer... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MG5HOEO?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

(note, the plastic sizers that you try on are very accurate. The stick that came with it that you measure the size of rings you already have was NOT accurate for me, just a heads up)

Resizing can only be done a few times, so if you still have more to lose I’d suggest getting some kind of ring size adjuster in the meantime. That’s what I use! I got engaged a few days after starting Keto, and I’ve lost an entire ring size so far.

Some people have successfully used these:

I use mandrels. Here is a mini one and here is a larger one that I use. I have used wooden dowels in the past to help achieve a certain roundness.

I'm currently using this!

My engagement ring was a size too big when he proposed so we got it sized, but since then I've lost close to 30 pounds and it quickly became too big again. I don't want to get it sized again until closer to the wedding, so I tried a few different sizers and these coils have been great. They stay on when you take the ring on and off, and really stay nice except for some mild discoloration with wear. I've been using it since April and have only replaced the coil once so far.

Like these!

They get a bit grubby after a week or so, I went through quite a lot. But for the six months of my engagement they worked out fine. :)

If you can post a photo, that could be really helpful in giving you advice. Based on what you have provided, here are my 2 best guesses:

If the ring was stamped as "SP", then its silver plated. If this is the case, then the ring is likely copper with silver plating. If heated, the silver plating will burn off, leaving copper showing. The ring could be sized, but it would then need to be replated, which most jewelers do not do. (most store do rhodium plating over white gold, but won't risk contaminating their plating solution with any other metals.).

Conversely, the ring might be stamped as "German Silver" or "Nickel Silver", neither of which contains any pure silver at all. (made of copper, zinc & nickel). If the ring is nickel silver, no jeweler is going to risk sizing it because it could very well destroy the ring. In this case, you are far better off keeping the ring as a keepsake vs. risking it melting during a sizing. I have done a few of these over the years for customers that signed waivers and genuinely didn't care if it was destroyed. While they worked, I doubt it was a long term success.

Your best bet is honestly to grab one of those silicone sizers and not try to size the ring. Here's an example: https://www.amazon.com/Adjuster-Invisible-Spiral-Silicone-Tightener/dp/B07F1RN1TM/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_201_lp_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=SGBV5NAAA283P1T4GXWZ

I had a pair that didn’t improve with adding things to the back, but did improve with these things that go in the toe. They come in a variety of shapes (round, pointed, etc). And they ship prime!!

You could order something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019CPH1PK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GkxaCbVY687TA)

Keep in mind that the sizers are thin and if he gets a wider band, it would fit slightly more snug.

Edit: format

I got these!! I love my rings and I didn't want to take them off. I'll definitely get them resized when I'm closer to my goal weight. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018R989A8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_QaZMzb1MAS7EQ

Here's an Amazon link for one of the many brands of them. They're pretty neat. I like the sleeve better than the metal guards.

Congrats on your loose ring! You'll be getting that final resize before you know it!

There are bands that go around the bottom of the ring to make them smaller - here is a link to what I'm talking about. They also come in plastic and a bunch of other shapes and sizes. Hope this helps!
