Not sure what is wrong with this? Looks like it could be kind of fun. Like a big kick scooter. Seems like an early version of this.

It says right on Amazon that the “package arrives in packaging that reveals what is inside. To hide it choose ship in Amazon packaging at checkout” it is in bold even...

I slammed my knee on the concrete driveway riding one of those razor scooters.
Could barely walk for a week.

This is the scooter:

This is the kit I bought about a year ago for for a bike: https://www.bikeberry.com/gas-engine-kits/4-stroke-bike-engine/flying-horse-38cc-lock-n-load-friction-drive-bicycle-engine-kit-4-stroke.html

I didn't spend anything beyond those two items. All I had to do was shorten the mounting hardware a bit and drill one hole through the deck of the scooter. It's a little janky, but I think it's hilarious and more fun than the bike was.

With your son riding a bike, your office + shuttle having space for bikes and the parks not having flat surfaces, have you considered going with a bike?

----

Right now, it sounds like a kick bike for you. There's a distributor in San Diego if interested.

And I think you're right, hurric9. I couldn't find the Micro Downtown on the US website. Well, at least at the date of this posting, the Micro Downtown has gone poof!

-----------------

If considering a polyurethane wheeled kick scooter, this looks like a candidate with wide handlebars, like the Downtown. It looks like a good price, once they come into stock.

---------------

If considering the A5 DLX, Also consider the A6. It's got a nice low deck height, like the A5 DLX.

-----------------

As far as your parks and sidewalks not having perfect/flat surfaces, if they are mere cracks and get bumpy, a simple quick lift of the front end or just walking your scooter through the rough area will do.

I use one of these

A bit more budget, but still sturdy enough to take a 6'4 gent

I've been looking for the same thing. I've been trying out a knockoff penny board. It's definitely light, small, and inexpensive but fairly terrain sensitive. Small rocks or cracks can stop you in your tracks. For a bit more money and weight a knock off nickel board will give more stability. For myself who was new to skateboarding, I found the penny good for 20-35 minute spurts of activity. After an hour and a half of those, the leg I balance on when kicking got really tired/sore. I had never skateboarded before in my life but didn't find it that difficult to learn on a penny board. If you're very tall with large feet you'd need to do the nickel board over the penny.

I've been recently thinking about the benefits of a large wheeled scooter. The larger wheels make it less terrain sensitive, and the handles will let you take weight off your balancing leg so it doesn't tire out as much.

My links for Canada prices, if you're in the US you should be able to get knockoffs even cheaper.

To be honest, it's a lot smaller than I remember it (the measurements are there, but I dunno I didn't pay attention- it was an impulse buy). I got this in black and it rides as smooth as I remember, but I wear size 10 shoes (my height is 5'10" or 177.8 cm) and my whole foot pretty much takes up the whole foot space, maybe with 1 inch or so left. Because of that, there's no space for my braking foot. I rest it on the whatever space is left. I also hunch over a little because of the height of the handles, so my lower back gets tired after awhile.

If you're going to buy one to ride around frequently/transport I'd get a made-for-adult scooter with bigger wheels and overall sturdier construction. If you're just gonna screw/ride around a bit and have money to burn, this $30 razor scooter will work. If it's for campus or something, this will work fine. Sorry, dunno why I typed so much.

It's less about training wheels - my son has been getting around with a plastic "pre-balance bike" but he's getting frustrated it doesn't go over cracks in the concrete well. Have been debating whether he gets a scooter or a balance bike so went to our LBS. Other mums tend to get the scooters as they're easier to use - then the kids don't go to bikes until they're about 5, when the kids ask for them.

I got a scooter for him. He chose it. Will get the balance bike in January - just need to convince my husband that the n+1 equation has no age limit...

I know you asked where you could find one locally, but all the ones I've seen people riding to work have been (I think) adult Razors like this or this one by a different brand.

This is a Mini Micro Scooter.
The one we got came with a few attachments that he has grown with since about 14 months old.

Buying one of these just so I can go in on those handle slips.
