I hope this doesn't break the rules and if it does I'm sorry 😭

u/wind-raven · 5 pointsr/BdsmDIY

the floor dimensions are basically 4 foot by 8 foot. If I move it away from the wall there would be no problem spinning.

As for the strap, its a 22 kN climbing runner, the carabiner is a 25 kN twist lock self locking carabiner similar to this one, and the swivel is a 30 kN climbing swivel. All the equipment is used in rock climbing and can take a fall or static load of at least 4000 lbs, the weak point being the sling. kn to lbs is not exact but its very safe. The ring has a 22 kN sling larks headed around the ring and the swivel, the rope is purely decorative.

I have used versions of all the equipment rock climbing and have had a couple falls, every thing held up as expected (and was retired after the fall).

I found a bunch of inexpensive midcentury-modern style stuff for you. I hope you like it.

Even if you don't like the stuff I picked out, hopefully I gave you some places to get started. In addition to the stuff I showed you, I highly recommend you get some things that will add life and color to your room; namely, plants, wall art, and a rug.

The wood on the stuff I showed you matches your kitchen cabinets (from what I can tell), so your place will have a uniform feel. However, as I mentioned, it's the little things like plants that will really make your place shine!

Great rug! I saw in the comments that you are willing to get rid of the big chair, I think that it would be best to do so. The furniture is too big for the space. Below I put some links for chair suggestions. I also saw that you want lighting suggestions so also put pairings together.

I would also suggest maybe painting the wall behind the couch to help make it pop. If you do get rid of the chair, the couch you need to center on the wall along with the coffee table and have a chair or two in the other side on an angle to it can be a more social space.

For paint colors how about:

SW 6238

SW 6521

SW 9007

Chairs:

Lamp:

One this would be next to the couch with the lamp part over the coffee table

Two this can be used as a side table, you could get two and put them on either side of the couch

Are you looking for that exact chair? Searching for mid-century modern or retro arm/lounge chair will get you lots of similar results. So it might be hard to find the exact one. I bet if you contact Starbucks they might be able to tell you.

I found some similar ones if you're interested:

And if you look through those there are a lot of suggested ones at the bottom.

If you are going for a minimalist look, that guest chair has got to go. Something smaller and simpler like this or this.

Instead of the whiteboards put up some artwork to cover the hole.

For the bike, it looks a bit heavy, but if you can lift it and have permission to put some holes in the wall, adding a wall holder in the corner.

This is just approximation (10'x10', each square is a foot), but maybe a set up like this. It's make it a bit snug for putting the bike up, but then it'd be out of the way for most of the day. The guest chair is blocking some of the lower grey cabinets, but it doesn't sound like you need access to them super frequently. And if you got a lighter chair it'd be easy to move out of the way when needed.

>Not for me. It's necessary for quality of life due to my disabilities.

I've a lot of things to say, but to just really drive my point home, I've found those for around $300 on amazon.

>Actually now that I look online, either mattresses got a lot cheaper between then and now, or I seriously got ripped off >:/

Things get cheaper overtime.

>the biggest expense was the electric recliner. $1200, it's medically certified.

A recliner really doesn't need to be medically certified, and if you're on disability, you may qualify for some sort of compensation from the government for it. And also, again, I've found some for around $300. But if you really, really wanted one that was 'medically certified' there's this Serta which is $200 cheaper.

>I'm on disability. I'm mentally and physically disabled.

Well, I'm sorry for that. Do you have family? Have you contacted disability with regards to your needs?

>I have these things accounted for; my conditions leave me with a lot of time to think about things like this, even if it takes me a little bit longer than most people would to think about them, I have plenty of time. I account for these things, and this sort of financing was necessary. Insurance doesn't always cover everything you need.

Fair enough. I'm simply concerned that you may be using loans as a means to purchase things you don't need. If it assists with your disability, go for it.

>Usually when I end up on the floor, it's not by choice.

Look man. I don't know you. I can peer into your text and say you're disabled anymore than you can do to me. I treat you like I would anyone else, and most people can live like that. Most people can sit down on a rug. It sucks that you can't, but I don't know that until you say so. Which is why I am more understanding now of your decision. I simply want to help you avoid having to take out a loan if you don't need to.

>But it was a necessary expense.

Fair enough. Though, now that you have this one it may be worth trying to save now for when you need to replace it, since that day will indefinitely come.

u/lt0202 · 2 pointsr/AmateurRoomPorn

Indeed! Being replaced with this chair when it arrives next week :).

It's very similar to this "chaise lounge" by Esse.

I put one of these in our bedroom. Quality for price was mildly impressive. If you have cats, the pleather will have claw marks pretty quick.

Would it help if you had a chair to sit in on the floor? On Amazon, search for "gaming floor chair" for something like this:

Would it be weird for y'all to have the standing desk be situated to the left of the sitting desk?

Then, you could define the individual spaces by area rugs, and/or a sweet indoor garden. (Another idea: A tall planter filled with snake plants, to create a low-level "barrier" without actually cutting up the open floor plan, visually.)

If you need additional seating, I'd just get a chair, because I think another couch will make the room feel really stuffed. (Bright yellow might not be your thing, but I think it'd be a good pop of color in your space.)

P.S. A console table behind your couch might open up the space in front of your couch, if you're feeling like it's too cramped in your living room.

Also, here's a similar-looking chair for reference, the cupholders are at the ends lower than the armrests themselves so I think cup mounts with raised-up, flat surfaces would work best. (FYI, I already tried the lap desks and absolutely hate them, plus they don't give me a lot of room).
