That's what I was thinking, but I'm worried about buying new parts correctly. I'm looking at sony seller products but the supplies all have mixed reivews.

Pick up those. Far cheaper, awesome quality, and can be switched between controllers, as ps4 controllers don't last very long.

Also kontrol freeks, great for stick customization. I personally run this, KontrolFreek GamerPack Classic - PS4 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00Q52MNMU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_hUUtybT65WGW8

If you or your kids are slightly DIY you can get trigger stop kits you can add to the controllers, and even do the "gamer grip" stuff that scuf does by getting plasti dip, there are tutorials and vids on YouTube.

Scufs quality is always hit or miss, and their customer service is bad. Use caution if you buy from them, once they get your money they don't give a F about you.

And followed the steps broken out in this tutorial http://www.psu.com/forums/showthread.php/320208-Step-by-step-DS4-custom-repaint

The painting process took almost a week since i gave 24-48 hours between coats so the paint could really dry.

Green paint took about 4 days, glow in the dark paint took another day, matte clear coat took another day and a half.

Patience is the key, and not painting too heavy a coat of spray paint at a time.

The disassembly and reassembly were the easiest parts
