This is not a straightforward answer. Sorry.
It really depends on what you want to get out of the cup:

  • Do you want a full body? Kalita wave is more temperature stable than other brewers because the wavy filter keeps the coffee away from the brewer. The flat base allows more even extraction.

  • Do you want a really clean cup where you can taste all of the subtle notes? The Hario V60 is a Classic, brews a clean balanced cup. It has a thinner filter and is great for fruity floral coffees.

  • Do you want a clean cup for more people? Chemex has a thicker filter and brews a really clean cup. It also makes it easy to brew for multiple people at once.

  • Do you want the ability to do immersion and pour over? The Clever is really easy to use and is more forgiving than the other methods. You don't necessarily need a gooseneck kettle.

I personally use a V60. The others are all fantastic, you really can't go wrong.

https://www.amazon.es/Pour-Over-Cafetera-filtros-papel/dp/B07DNJBG1Z/

Uso o café moído Lavazza que também comprei na Amazon Espanha.

Se quiseres o Ikea também tem uma cafeteira porreira e acessível:

https://www.ikea.com/pt/pt/catalog/products/90358962/

Se tiveres tempo disponível e gostares de te envolveres mais no processo de fazer o teu café, este método é excelente e muito barato. Deixo-te um vídeo tutorial:

RIP Beansboro... otherwise, this is a great option! The honey lurvbes the pour overs vs any other options at home at this point.. enjoy & please use Amazon Smile (Loving Pet Inn & many others are great options to donate to, if you're unsure of who to donate to).

Oh oh I love coffee! Some cool products to check out on the cheap:

Hario Mini Mill Slim Hand Coffee Grinder: It's a hand crank grinder, but it's a burr grinder so it produces a more consistent grind which in turn produces a better cup of coffee.

Chemex 3-Cup Classic Glass Coffee Maker: Not as cheap as the french press, but since it uses a paper filter so there isn't as much sediment in the cup. I find that I prefer it over the french press.

Bodum Brazil 8-Cup French Press Coffee Maker: Classic french press.

Optional:

Etekcity Digital Kitchen Scale: Scales are helpful in getting a consistent cup every time. You can measure out the water and coffee and dial in the perfect ratio.

Also check out Pinewood Roaster's coffee. I think they're on Franklin and 11th in the same building as Alpha Omega. Grab a bag of Ethiopian Beriti and enjoy!

I've had luck with Kuju pour overs. Use a pour over at home, found instants to be too nasty to enjoy at all. They do a pretty decent job and don't break the bank.

You can also buy empty filters and use your own coffee.

TBH, I don't have any experience with automatic brewers personally but I have been looking into one for myself and most people around here will recommend referencing the SCAA-approved home brewer list here. The SCAA thoroughly tests the machines before approval and many would say they can be on-par (and probably more consistent) with many manual pour-over techniques. On that list, the KitchenAid Pour Over brewer seems like it could be a good choice for you because of its smaller footprint and the fact that it has an option for 2 or 4 cup brewing since you said your wife doesn't need to make very much. I also just noticed that Amazon has a great deal right now on the silver color.

u/bc2zb · 3 pointsr/Coffee

The kitchenaid pourover is SCAA certified and is able to be set with an alarm. My only complaint is that there are not steel carafes available, so if you don't get up, your coffee can be cold.

I personally like V60 + their 600ml carafe - its very versatile ( v60 on single glass, aero press on that carafe etc).
There is also all in one option, kind of like chemex: https://www.amazon.com/Hario-Drip-Coffee-Decanter-700ml/dp/B00755F9Z4

Fellow stag has a nice pour over kit (single glass?): https://www.amazon.com/Pour-Over-Brewing-Dripper-Tasting-filters/dp/B0764XLSLS

Once you get yourself a coffee, get yourself one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-BISTRO-Coffee-Machine-11001-294US/dp/B005OQL6P8 a million times better than a Keurig, less waste (just the grinds that go into the compost), and you can make as much or as little as you want! I've had one for years now and I never want another coffee maker.

u/midlifemomo · 2 pointsr/Cooking

I've been using a pour-over filter (like this).

I can't dump a whole pot through it - I scoop out the big stuff, pour into a second pot through a normal sieve, and then scoop it into the pour-over for one mason jar after another. The stand sits nicely on top. I have to stir it or occasionally pull out the gunk to keep it flowing.

Some permanent coffee filters have a larger mesh, but the pour-over style is very fine.

u/k_bomb · 2 pointsr/nfl

Coffee Bean Direct and Red Bird Coffee have good espresso for around $10 a lb.

I was big on the Aeropress and Moka Pot, but people are enamored with the Chemex pour-over.

u/cieje · 1 pointr/vaporents

I haven't, but I think that would work; a future experiment.

just put like a bunch of AVB in the tank and cover with everclear. I bet the ultrasonic will potentially produce a similar result as just letting it sit to make a tincture

edit like I was looking at these carafes to set in the tank without getting it dirty and making it easy to get the stuff out. and you could even strain it directly with this

update so it's talked about in a few places, like here, so it's something I'm going to try with vegetable glycerin.

I bought this bottle that has a built-in filter. the idea is that I can put AVB in and cover it with vegetable glycerin, put the bottle into the ultrasonic cleaner, and simply pour the tincture into dropper bottles.

So, there's a lot hate for this company since Nestle bought them, but I really like the Blue Bottle Coffee Dripper. It's only $25 bucks, plus the filters ($5 for 30 filters, so you may need to buy them on a monthly basis). They sell also a carafe, but you don't need it (especially if you're only brewing one cup).

Pros: Easy to use and clean; produces great coffee; does not need pre-rinsing (at least that's what they say and I've never had papery taste in my cup); can order it online very easily.

Cons: It's designed to use a lot of coffee (aprox. 1:11 ratio); the company was bought by Nestle (and they're evil); filters are a little expensive; to make it perfectly you may need a goose-neck kettle and a scale (but, that's pretty much the same with other any manual dripper like the Chemex, V60, etc.).

If you really want something that's sold on Amazon, although it's over $50, you can try the Fellow Stagg Pour-Over Dripper. It already comes with some filters and you can order more on Amazon. It's a little bit on the pricey side, but it looks great and makes good coffee (I have the XF version, which a little bigger but I guess they're pretty much the same).

On my river trips, we are usually making coffee for 10-15 people. We have tried several options including two big french presses and one gigantic percolator. The french presses have to be cleaned between uses and the gigantic percolator takes some time to make the coffee.

The best way we have found to continuously have coffee for that many people is to do cowboy coffee and just put the grounds into the giant percolator and not use it as designed.

When we pour coffee from the pot we strain it with one of these to catch any of the grounds that would come from the pot.

Pour Over Coffee Maker Set - Pour Over Kit Includes Large Glass Carafe and Reusable Dripper Coffee Filter - 5 Cup Coffee Brewer (27oz | 800ml) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071ZN9NLC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_VNONBbNYRP7EJ

I did buy this set just for the cone and sold off the carafe, but it was a gold one which I can’t seem to find right now.

I am looking to get into coffee and start brewing better than what our Keurig brews. I have been looking at buying an Osaka pour over dripper as well as a JavaPresse grinder. Is this a good starting point? I was looking into checking out the Kicking Horse Grizzly beans to use with it. Would this work well with the Osaka?
Thank you.

u/fncll · 1 pointr/Coffee

This is the exact Osaka pour over I've used and hope to get at some point: https://www.amazon.com/Osaka-Pour-Over-Coffee-Dripper-Stand/dp/B01LXDGLGK/

They come in a variety of forms including one that sits right in a carafe with a Chemex style collar, etc

DOOOOO IT! You’ll love it. I found this:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JLY1HSE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_y7EYCbJHK9KE2 after a super quick search, I think this comes with a reusable filter (which I also recommend having) and it’s only $20! That way you can try it and if you hate it you didn’t spend too much.

u/ToSeeOrNotToBe · 1 pointr/preppers

I use a pour-over cone dripper similar to this one pretty often. Just heat the water however you can, set this over the cup with the grounds inside, and pour the water in it. The one I normally use needs a cone filter so it's easier to clean up, but this stainless steel one doesn't need filters so it's good for off-grid (until the coffee runs out).

u/ChuckJelly23 · 1 pointr/woodworking

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OOST5FK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It comes with a plastic piece to sit right on the cup if you'd rather. It also is a pain to separate from the plastic. It came with a metal filter but I use it at work where there isn't a nearby sink so I use these filters https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FKJNNA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/Lolanie · 1 pointr/personalfinance

My pour over came with a metal filter, although I used a paper filter as well to eliminate sludge in the bottom of my cup. This was mine (sorry in advance for the ugly link):

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OOST5FK/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1475250565&sr=8-2&refinements=p_89%3APrimula&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=pour+over+coffee+maker&dpPl=1&dpID=51nvlKXzzML&ref=plSrch

I loved it. It made great coffee, was cheap, and easy to clean.

And then I dropped the glass part last week and it broke. I'm back to the crappy Keurig for now until I figure out my next good coffee maker.

RIP.

Kenya AA Marumi Society from HappyMug, brewed in this because I ran out of v60 filters.

u/wskv · 1 pointr/Coffee

Oh, that's so lame.

You can also look into systems that use seamless paper filters, like the Kalita Wave 185, but it's a little over $30CAD, especially with the filters ($10CAD).

After experiencing filter issues not too dissimilar from yours, I finally broke down and traded my v60-01 for a Kalita 155 and am kicking myself for waiting so long. Once it's dialed in, the coffee is phenomenal and, better yet, consistent.

This is an offer I found on Instagram for a free Chemex pour over lid. The downside is that it's only free due to the rebate, so you do have to purchase it from amazon directly and the company will refund you. I was of course very weary about this but this morning I got my rebate via PayPal.

Apply at your own risk. The time to get my refund was about two days and the item should be coming from Amazon any day now. Also I believe their countdown is just a scare tactic.
