I'm seeing them for $8 a kilo in India under the name "sunworms". Sounds pretty affordable to me. Under $5 a pound in US.    https://www.amazon.com/NaturesPeck-Sunworms-Black-Soldier-Larvae/dp/B06ZYP2MYC?th=1

You really have a head start on a lot of the common factors of owning a turtle.

Basics are ensuring 10g water per inch of SCL. You have a little bit of wiggle room with a young turtle for now. In the long run you will be looking at either a 100+ gallon aquarium or setting up an indoor turtle pond of some kind.

Another note: It will be very important to sex your turtle when they reach sexual maturity. If your turtle is female you will need to set up a nesting site for her safety. Female turtles will develop eggs with or with out a mate. They will avoid laying clutches in water and require a nesting site to lay eggs. There is a lot of information on this available online but in the long run it's VERY important to determine your turtle's gender to ensure their habitat accommodates their needs. Female turtles with out a proper nesting site can (and often will) develop fatal complications.

Pellets or turtle sticks are not often regarded as nutritionally fulfilling in the turtle community. That is why you see so many push vegetables and greens. There are two schools of thought on this: Force your turtle to adapt to a more green diet by restricting feedings and encouraging green consumption (while providing a variety of greens). Imagine only eating bacon cheese burgers and tasty pasta with fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy then someone hands you a head of romaine and says "Eat this instead" with nothing else. That's kind of the same reaction your turtle will give you.

The other option is the freeze dried route. Other than the carrots most of it floats well, takes on water slowly while your turtle munches, and they sometimes are more receptive (mine certainly was). There is also an omnivore mix that includes the veggies with some mealworms, crickets, and silkworm pupae as a protein source. I find that the protein in the omnivore mix is a bit higher than I'd like so I do a bag of the vegetable only mixed with a bag of the omnivore. Spreads out the protein and makes it a bit more of a treat since it is not meant to be a main part of their diet really.

I’ll have to check out those ones on Etsy, that’d be really nice. Here are the ones that I bought.

I found this thing on amazon that works wonders, no water required!

https://www.amazon.com/Anti-Ant-Magic-Tray-Shield-Foods/dp/B06XQYZMTY/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=ant+proof+tray&qid=1564193417&s=gateway&sr=8-3

It's a little pricey for a piece of plastic but we've had it for about a year and our cat no longer wakes us up at 3 in the morning to complain about ants in his food, nor does he make a mess by dropping his food in any water-based ant solutions we tried in the past.

Live worms, not kidding. I think it was similar to these or something like that. At the time, I was 'Shit, Amazon sells fucking worms too?'

Then I searched around and holy hell can you find things like these there indeed.

Welcome!

Hes adorable, I have a couple crested and a gargoyle, Id say that all in all its been a relatively easy experience, just make sure they have enough hides, your humidity and temperature are correct, and theyre able to find their food in their cage for start.

In terms of food I highly suggest Pangea fruit mix, Mine prefer the Mango Watermelon flavor, and I treat them with a few crickets here or there. I would also suggest a magnetic feeding ledge since they prefer to eat up high!

Fruit Mix:

Feeding Ledge:

Im no expert but these are a couple thinks that Ive found that made it all go more smoothly since I first had the scare of them not eating, enjoy your new Gecko!

Something for him to chew on, because rodents teeth don’t stop growing, so he has to file them down somehow. Some wooden chews from the pet store work perfectly. Also occasional treats, such as dried fruits/veggies or yogurt drops will help him be happier.

I don't have any overdue library books. For reals! I had to go in last week and ask them to check the shelf and lo and behold it was there! Got the fines removed as well =)

Thanks for the contest!

My Hermann only eats romaine lettuce and Mazuri https://www.amazon.com/Mazuri-Tortoise-Diet-12-oz/dp/B00OV0WH74/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1550124495&sr=8-5&keywords=mazuri. I have to soak the pellets in water and then give them to him.

Jerry loves this and he has been very energetic and active. Especially since the worst of his quilling has passed

Not sure where you're located but amazon has them in quite a few countries: https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Laboratories-Crickets-Ounce/dp/B01BI6QMLU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499724175&sr=8-1&keywords=can+o%27crickets

They have their original body liquids. It's just like other canned food, only crickets, worms, etc. I've found them quite convenient.

I have growth and breeding that I'm using. What I've done is put it on the log not far from his favorite hide. I tried to give him a small slice of strawberry and he attacked it so I don't put it super close due to the fact I'm not interested in getting bit. But he usually finds it and laps up a bit. I'd put it right in front of yours if possible.

I know growth and breeding is higher in bug bits so that could help with the switch. I have no idea though, I've been incredibly lucky with all my lizards eating the right things from the get go.

Hi,

This seller sells one here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J21MOI4?m=A9JEQYYUIFP2F&ref_=v_sp_detail_page
and a pair here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GVMO89A?m=A9JEQYYUIFP2F&ref_=v_sp_detail_page

If two males won't be good together, then I would prefer just one. I def do not want to start a colony/have them breed, I literally just want one lol.

Do you have any that are on the smaller size?
