Some highlighters and sticky notes always come in handy! There are actually quite a few school/office supplies items that are under $5.

And there are a LOT of books on Amazon under $5, especially if you have a Kindle or Kindle app!

Quite a few kitchen-y items under $5, too, like mini cupcake liners!

I hope this was of some help! Thank you so much for the contest! =D

These are the post-its I use. There is about a 1/4" on one the edge that isn't sticky, but the rest is.

Post-it Super Sticky Full Adhesive Notes, 3 in x 3 in size, Bora Bora Collection, 12 pads/pack (F330-12SSFM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009DIOQ7S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fi2DzbFDMH65C

If you can't find those, use regular thin paper, cover with a layer of Tombow two way glue and let it dry completely. It will be removable just like the post it.

Mono Multi Liquid Glue Carded, 0.88-Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XAOSHS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Sk2DzbJCHN9V1

I agree! I buy all my textbooks because of this. I don't like the idea of using pen in my books so I take notes in mechanical pencil. This also makes it convenient to take notes on the go! I just jam my pencil in my Quantum Mechanics textbook and carry it around with me.

This also makes it really easy to mark questions you have. Just underline the part of the text you don't understand, write your question next to it (or just ??? if you're that confused), and go back to it later.

But if you only want to rent your textbooks, you can use something like these transparent sticky notes.

/u/captivatingbleu should.

Not only because of mod-related duties, and not just because she's in the helping profession, but because she's been patiently answering every question MrStoryDone and I can think of (pertaining to going on a disney cruise).

She's pretty baller.

A fidget toy might be nice! After looking around, I got one of the vortex balls, because it seems like it would be weighty, fun to play with, and less likely to run away from me than one of the slidey/foldy ring toys... though I caved and got one of those too!

If you do decide to go with one of the vortex balls, check whether you're getting aluminum or stainless steel. That's a detail I only noticed as I was fetching the link, and I had a moment of alarm because I was afraid I got the aluminum one. (I want mine to be heavy.)

Assuming the comments are trustworthy, people really seem to like this seller, and they appear to be genuinely hand-made, too, for what it is worth. The vortex ball also comes in all sorts of colors and could be seen as decorative, too!

Also, I like the idea of the Tile -- tech is fun, and that is supremely useful! I might stay away from the planner and instead get a giftcard to someplace. That is speaking as someone with er... attachment issues with office supplies. Your friend might not be as picky as I am though, so it's just a thought.

You might also get them a dot-gridded journal, like this or this (I've also heard great things about Leuchtturm notebooks, but they are more expensive and I don't have experience with them) -- and then put a post-it note on the cover with www.bulletjournal.com written on it. ADHD-ers tend to love that journal system, at least for a good while, and it is extremely flexible, customizable, and not specific to the notebook you use. (Though the dot-grid allows for the best of a clean appearance and straight lines.) So no concern about planner incompatibility -- and no concern about mourning the waste of a dated planner that was never used. (hangs head for a moment of guilty silence)

For post-its, I enjoy the full adhesive ones, since they can be used for labels and all sorts of things, without a flappy nonadhesive edge (when I am really in a mood, I'll snip off the very narrow nonadhesive edge on these -- and they can also be cut into smaller pieces for smaller labels). You might be better looking in a local office supply store, though -- the colors on Amazon are not always the colors you end up with. (sour look)

Anyhow, hope this helps!

do you know if she is interested more in working with adults/in medical settings or kids in educational/clinic settings? that may help narrow it down because they're very different fields. If you want to just get her some general interest stuff, a few good novels related to the field are The Diving Bell & the Butterfly, Where is the Mango Princess?, Schuyler's Monster...search this sub for other suggestions of books. There's also a bunch of cute gifty junk on amazon that is SLP related (not sure if you can get it in the UK though) If you find out what setting or population she's into we can probably think of some more useful/specific suggestions.

I had a job interview yesterday and did quite well. I've already received a follow-up phone call to schedule a second interview! Back patting commences

Current short term goal is to get my 2-mile time down to 18 minutes. Right now it's 20, which is the fastest I've run ever and the longest I've been able to go at a time ever, and I'm slowly getting better!

This would help me stay organized if I get the new job (or even if I don't!). Plus, sea-life puns are my favorite.
