It looks like it's this one.

This is the crockpot I have.

I can either throw food in it before I leave for work in the morning, or I can cook food while I sleep and have food ready to go to work once I wake up.

PSA: Instant Pot on sale for $60 today. I use mine every week for meal prepping. https://smile.amazon.com/Instant-Pot-Ultra-Programmable-Sterilizer/dp/B0777XZBMZ?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=dfe13b09-3b88-422f-bc64-07ef802d4688&pf_rd_r=14H4GHMFJAAK0KBA1PJ8

Also, I bought these last week after seeing them on Shark Tank. I did not need them because my gym has tons of barbell collars (even though they're the annoying kind) and they're $30. But.. damn are they fun. I feel like a kid again playing with those 1980s style slap bracelets. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B4LBF34/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I vote for one with a programmable timer. Something like this - https://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-33660-Programmable-Cooker/dp/B01CY9LPBC/ref=sr_1_6?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1468842998&sr=1-6&keywords=slow+cooker+timer . That way if you have something that needs to cook 5-6 hrs and you're gone for 8, you don't overcook it.

Might as well get that if it's going to be your first instant pot. It's like 5$ more than your limit but you get a lot more possibilities, also it's usually 180$ I've been eyeing it for a while but I already have an air fryer and an instapot.

u/PlasmaWarrior · 4 pointsr/slowcooking

I would go for a 6 quart. I just bought this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Crock-Pot-SCCPVP600-S-6-Quart-Smart-Pot-Stainless/dp/B004ZUW52W/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

The reviews say it makes enough for several and on the side of the box it says it can serve 8 people.

u/Activehannes · 4 pointsr/de

also die dinger heißen ja eigentlich slowcooker.

/r/slowcooking

If you aren't going to use the programmable features you can get something way cheaper (like a basic Crockpot) for about 30 bucks at a comparable size. The cheaper options don't have an auto shut off function and will keep cooking until they're turned off BUT if you're only planning to be gone for less than 10 hours when you use it it'll be fine.

Actually just checking Amazon, Crockpot has a programmable one (https://www.amazon.com/Crock-Pot-6-Quart-Programmable-Stainless-SCCPVL610-S/dp/B004P2NG0K/ref=sr_1_4_acs_ac_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1543427473&sr=1-4-acs&keywords=crockpot) for less than 40 bucks and the basic one is around 30 (https://www.amazon.com/Crock-Pot-SCV800-B-8-Quart-Manual-Cooker/dp/B0196B3P1E/ref=sr_1_6?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1543427473&sr=1-6&keywords=crockpot)

Twinbird makes pretty decent quality stuff.

Whatever you get, I recommend you get a simple on-off type, not a digital one. Then you have the option of making a sous-vide controller later.

Ultra 6 QT - $81.99
Ultra 8 QT - $94.99

u/j-mar · 3 pointsr/slowcooking

This is the one me and my gf have (the 2qt one). I cook mainly for myself, but the food I make smells so good my gf always wants some. It's big enough to give us a meal and some leftovers, but not big enough to feed me for a week or anything.

Ideally, I'd like a larger, fancier one in addition to the one I have. Since I'm pretty lazy, I'd like to be able to cook up a ton of something at once, and then just eat it as leftovers for a few days. But sometimes I only have a little bit of meat or something, and having a small slow cooker is perfect (because I don't need to use as much sauce or whatever I'm cooking the chicken in).

But you're just "giving it a try" so drop the $15 on the little one and see how it goes.

ooooooo! I LOVE my electric pressure cooker. I have THIS one. I love that it is so versatile. I can make pretty much anything with it. I can use it as a pressure cooker, a slow cooker, a rice cooker, or even a regular pot on a stove. It is awesome when you can make beans and rice in less than an hour. I made stock with the turkey carcass in 45 minutes. I have a lot of awesome kitchen gadgets, but it is by far my favorite.

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/Cooking

Just buy an electric pressure cooker. They are also rice cookers and slow cookers. The most used appliance in my kitchen. THIS is the one I bought. It even has separate settings for white and brown rice. I can do a roast in ~ 1 hour and it is fall apart tender. I can make beans from the bag in under an hour as well.

The one I bought is pretty big, but I am a single guy and it has yet to be a problem. Just make sure to buy one with a stainless steel pot, as the teflon ones can peel over time. My last one had teflon and it never peeled, but it is a common complaint on any non-stick cookware.

u/Kraken15 · 2 pointsr/slowcooking

I live in Japan and here's the slow cooker I use: https://www.amazon.co.jp/ツインバード工業-TWINBIRD-EP-4717BR-ツインバード-スロークッカー/dp/B009JXQWR4/ref=sr_1_41?srs=2808478051&ie=UTF8&qid=1522201091&sr=8-41

It works great (as in, it does what a slow cooker's supposed to do). It's only about 3 quarts (3 liters), but it (and a few similar models also sold by Twinbird) are just about the only slow cookers I've found produced for the domestic market and local electricity needs. Everything else is a parallel import that'll require a transformer to work properly. Anyway, that Twinbird one's not very expensive, so I recommend switching to it. If it's not big enough, youcould always buy two and use them both at once.

u/mapryan · 2 pointsr/slowcooking

For those of you in the UK, Which magazine recommends the Crock-Pot SCCPRC507B-060 as their Best Buy. (I would link to the review but you need a login on their site to see it)

u/firewerx · 2 pointsr/slowcooking

Yes. I have this one. Super simple and easy to operate (also very durable). I've used it at least once a month for about a year now.

u/TheLivingShit · 2 pointsr/slowcooking

My regular slow cooker for small meals of chicken or something is a Hamilton Beach 4 Qt Stay or Go. We'll call this one "Pearl". Runs kind of warm, 6 hours on low usually ideal.

I also have a fancier bigger slow cooker I won at my work in a contest that I use for soups and Mac and cheese or whole chickens which is the Cuisinart Stainless Steel 6-1/2-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker. We will call that one "Earl". Earl is bitter sweet, because if the power goes out for a minute, and I'm at work, it does not turn back on unlike the regular basic slow cookers. But it does have a timer.

u/flyingfresian · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Try this one The one you've added is quite small and won't do larger meals. I have a 3.5L one which I use to cook whole chickens in too! The 2.5ish one is fine if you're just cooking for you/batch cooking to freeze some.

If you are going on a Meal Plan, and don't intend to cook all that often, just invest in a Coffee Pot.

Go full-size (10-12 cup) and not with the cute & dinky ones.

https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Coffee-12-Cup-Maker-Black/dp/B002YI2IG0/

Coffee & tea are your cheapest sources of caffeine.

If you want to cook, at least a little I encourage you to add a slow cooker, or Crock Pot to your array of tools.

https://www.amazon.com/Crock-Pot-SCV401-TR-4-Quart-Manual-Cooker/dp/B000AB32PE/

Surprisingly versatile tool the Crock Pot.
They do burn up some storage space though, but resist the temptation to get one smaller than 4Qt. You'll regret buying a 1-2Qt in no time.

u/NoAngel815 · 2 pointsr/airfryer

I would suggest the combo air fryer/instant pot they came out with recently. I know you said no need for the mixed ones but I have both as separate machines and they work great together, especially when cooking from frozen. I can't eat greasy food anymore but I'll start out cooking wings (let's say) in the Instant Pot and then get them crispy in the air fryer, I literally didn't use my oven or stove for over a month after getting both of them (the Instant Pot has a saute function). I also an accessory pack so that I can do pot in pot meals, egg bites (like Starbucks), and steam veggies.

u/shifu_shifu · 2 pointsr/Kochen

u/nogiraffetattoo · 2 pointsr/slowcooking

For anything with chicken breasts, I do 4 hours on low. Then it switches over to the warm setting for usually another 6-8 hours. I'm not 100% sure what the actual temperature is on the crockpot. This is the crockpot I have: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005LLUXNM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/norcon · 2 pointsr/slowcooking

http://amzn.com/B000A1FFPO

My one and only slow cooker. Cooking for 2, it is more than enough, i've made Jambalaya, chili, chicken wings, beef stew, various soup stocks, oxtail in various ways, pot roast, I use it to keep my meats warm after I fry them up, I use it to reheat pork chops so they don't dry out in the oven or microwave.. AND it cost me less than I paid for dinner the last time we went out for date night!

I've been using it for 2 years, no failures, nothing cracked, just be careful of overfilling it, if it boils out and gets into the heating element, it is hard to clean.

u/DarkAvenger42 · 2 pointsr/funny

it is really cool, I haven't used half of what it can do. It has a yogurt making mode, and I think I can even bake a cake in it, kinda silly actually.

FWIW, there are Amazon Reviews that also say this model does not get hot enough.

u/beachcomberfife · 2 pointsr/AskUK

you can just get Wifi adaptors for any power socket, and use a normal slow cooker.

Much easier, cheaper and quicker than getting a sparky in. Plus much more energy efficient (the whole point of a slow cooker?).

I would like to try to help you with cooking.

Also just spend your one night with cooking and freeze as much as you can, you can defrost and make sure there's food always. You can find easy freezer recipes here

u/missjulia928 · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'm really bad at this, but from experience, I highly recommend not to skimp on pots and pans price-wise. I bought some super cheap ones and the teflon ended up cracking and peeling after only one or two uses. If you want something moderately expensive, I highly recommend T-Fal pots and pans. I personally have these ones and they work great.

Also buying a slow cooker is a lifesaver. Again, it's something I don't recommend skimping in price on and investing in a decent one. Also finding one with a timer is a lifesaver. I know they sell ones for 10-15 bucks but I got one in the $30-$40 range and it was kick ass. It's by Hamilton Beach

I have a $16-20 wishlist :) If I win you can go off there.

u/aideya · 2 pointsr/GifRecipes

How about this one?

I totally get the money thing, it's actually what makes slow cookers so great (leftovers for days my friend). A $120 crock is not a viable option for most. But most are not that expensive. Check amazon, or walmart. Or hell, even your local Goodwill. You'd be surprised at how much you can save on one.

u/ducklam3 · 1 pointr/slowcooking

This is what I have in 6 qt., and I really love it. I only cook for myself and my boyfriend, but extra room in the crockpot doesn't hurt- and honestly it doesn't seem too big. I got my mom the crockpot linked by Sethomatic and she loves it! (It was $17 on Black Friday).

https://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-33473-Programmable-7-Quart/dp/B01CY9LPBC/ref=sr_1_1?srs=2529533011&ie=UTF8&qid=1484671946&sr=8-1&keywords=slow%2Bcooker&th=1

u/becausenooneeverhas · 1 pointr/instantpot

How nice of you to research your gift. Your choice will depend largely upon how many people she usually cooks for.

I have the 8 quart Ultra (I usually feed 9-10 people) and don't regret it at all. This is the only version with the knob and I love how easy and intuitive it is.

On Amazon, if you click on an Instant Pot and scroll down, there are charts comparing them. Like here.

I regularly use the glass lid you have to purchase separately. There are other gadgets you can get for it, like stackable pots and extra sealing rings (because yours will eventually smell bad), among other things.

You can just type in "Instant Pot Accessories" on Amazon and see what is available.

u/owlandfinch · 1 pointr/slowcooking

I find this slow cooker perfect for small batch cooking. It is big enough to make dinner for my husband, middle school daughter and a toddler, sometimes with a serving of leftovers for my husband's lunch the next day. (I often have separate food because allergies) I work out of state for my summer job and I use it to cook single servings for me as well. I can fit a couple of chicken breasts or 3-4 boneless thighs, a small beef roast for shredded beef sandwiches or a little pot roast, or a piece of pork shoulder to make pulled pork. It's also a great size for spinach artichoke dip, which I should not eat as a meal, but sometimes I do.

I like that it has a removable crock (some in that size do not) and mine has good temperature control - my Mom has a smaller one that seems to only really get warm enough to heat dip, not warm enough to actually cook.

just as a guide heres one for 17 quid on amazon

dont be fucking about mind get one bought !

winter is the best season for stews and stuff then ofc there chillies, curries, soups, roasts.... god i love mine :/ well... actually ive got two ... 7.5L as well as the normal one.

french onion soup done in on is bloody lovely !

u/rpbm · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

i don't think so--just clean it really good before you use it and it should be fine. but here's a basic 3 qt one on amazon for 11.50, and it qualifies for prime.

also try a 'cooking bag' for pot roast from the spices aisle of your supermarket. it comes with a bag to seal the roast in, and seasonings to make a classic pot roast. very simple, not messy at all, (you close up the bag and seal it off to keep everything juicy in the oven). they make a good pork roast one, too. yummy.

or just use the bag (there are plain bags available in the aluminum foil/plastic wrap section too) to keep everything juicy, and add your own (or someone elses) choice of seasonings.

I guess they are sheets made from some sort of heat resistent plastic, you can put them in the slow cooker so that the pot itself does not get dirty.

No, never tried it without the jar. It would be messier and harder to transfer the stuff. Also, I like to have it in the jar so I can take it out and freeze it then repeat easily. For your tiny crockpot, though, they don't recommend using the jar. I've had this one for 5+ years just for this kind of stuff :). It's important to get one with a 'keep warm' setting instead of just 'low'. In the end, don't worry too much, if you mess it up a little you'll probably still get a usable product, and after some trial and error with the methods in those links you'll find what works best for you. Definitely try vaping it less next time also. Good luck!

I have two both a crockpot brand and Hamilton Beach 4 quart slow cooker got both (at separate times) for under 20 dollars both have a simple knob, not digital and both have made great meals and are still going strong.

America's Test Kitchen did a test on a bunch of slow cookers, most that they recommend are out of your price range but their "Best Buy" is the Small Category is the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 4-quart Slow Cooker it got a 3/3 in cooking and 2/3 in design it is manual and should cost around 35 dollars.

The favorite for the Large Category is the Crock Pot Touchscreen 6.5 Quart Slow Cooker costs around $130

you're a big girl now!

Got this baby on amazon.jp a few months back. Can't beat the price and it's worked great so far. It's not huge, but makes a good few servings. Enough for meals for a couple days or a good big dinner for family or friends. I'd recommend it.

u/TyleetSohn · 1 pointr/Cooking

I have this one, and love it. It is big enough for whole chickens and roasts, but not so huge it's a pain getting it in and out of my upper cabinet. I cook for 2 and a kid, and always have enough for two meals. I've been using it about 5 years, and I'm pretty sure I got it at Target. Because I do whole chickens so often, I would definitely recommend an oval cooker over a round.
