Looking good! Be careful with those rubber bands though! they can weaken your dreads. I'd suggest buying headbands like these to prevent that.

Also: Be careful when crocheting, its SUUUUPER easy to break hair when doing it and severely weakening the dread. I crocheted mine for the first month and then stopped and stuck to palm rolling them with damp hands. works like a charm. now I just Crochet when I feel its absolutely necessary.

Possibly not the most helpful suggestion as we're heading into winter but I run a lot in combo shorts I wear briefs underneath them, but they also work commando.

With regards to leggings, try something with a drawstring so you can keep them over your hips. I don't know how attached you are to your boyshort undies, but I can't wear these for any workouts, largely due to the issues you are having. Would you consider briefs just for exercise?

I usually go out to friends house parties on Halloween so I can't be much help there. If you want to make your halloween really weird check out House of Yes in Bushwick.

If you aren't experienced dressing for cold the low teens will be difficult for you. I'm from the American south and I HATE winters here. The key is to minimize the amount of time you're in the cold, dress in layers, and keep your feet dry. I'd recommend buying disposable pocket handwarmers, one or two of these, and bringing along an extra set of wool socks when you leave your hotel in the morning.

I'm an L&D nurse so I stand and walk a LOT! I didn't really have an issue with swelling when I started wearing them (pre-pregnancy) but did have a lot of pain after work. The pain is definitely decreased and I don't have much swelling at all at 35 weeks. I have a couple of varicose veins but they aren't on my legs. Can't get compression socks on the ol' vulva! Haha!


I wear these Sockwell wool compression socks. I promise the wool isn't hot and they keep your feet from being stinky/sweaty at the end of the day.


I also wear Alegria shoes. Similar to Danskos in comfort/durability but a bit more expensive. I like them better because they aren't as tall as Danskos.

This is the headband I'm currently using. It's very soft and very stretchy! Other headbands would always feel very tight on my head and I'd feel like my strands were breaking off, but this one's very gentle and you can also wear it in different styles. Only problem is, I want ALL of the colors. :/

I didn’t think I would like these that much, but they’ve become my go to pants.

Compression socks! These have been sooooo nice, especially when I end up on my feet for long periods of time, but even when sitting at work all day or for long car rides. They've definitely helped keep the swelling down in my feet and ankles, and they're super comfortable. I got some Newzill brand from Amazon, and they're great! (But a warning: The argyle pattern is super-cute, but since it's actually stitched into the sock rather than printed on, it leaves an argyle pattern on your legs for a bit when you take them off haha).

Lady LEO's, These are great but holy cow do you pay for them! Lots of room for the booty without the sagging crotch business. So much room in the pockets for all of your secret agent-y things.

I just bought some fantastic capris at TJ Maxx about a week ago. Unfortunately, even though I rushed back after discovering how fantastic they were to work out in - they were out of stock! :(

Thankfully, Amazon has them for only a few dollars more (and Prime shipping, too). I'm definitely going to make an order soon. They're very lightweight and wick moisture quite well.

I only have one pair of compression socks right now -- they're this Sockwell in S/M -- but I've kickstartered a 2nd set in a different brand. They definitely help minimize swelling, but they don't entirely prevent it on a long transoceanic flight. They were uncomfortable the first couple times I used them, but either they've loosened with time or I've just gotten use to them. I have US size 5.5 feet, and I wish the foot portion was a bit snugger but the calf portion is snug enough (I have a chevron pattern imprinted in my flesh after removing them).

I was actually thinking of trying out the even more compressed version to see if that will totally stop my foot swelling.

Hey ladies! I got here a bit by accident, but I wanted to let you all know that ugly compression socks are one thing you don't have to put up with. I have to wear them due to having had a DVT and having Post-Thrombotic Syndrome. Here are some of my favorites:
