Free returns, I have a few of them and they work great

Sunscreen is just anything over SPF 30 (and not that spray-on nonsense, use real lotion).

As far as sweat goes, if I'm really working out or exercising I wear one of these. Mostly just to keep myself from going blind via sweat in the eyes.

Also, as soon as I can after working out I always rinse/shower down to prevent the salt and sweat from clogging up my skin and ruining my complexion. This stuff helps prevent sweat from doing any damage too.

I'm not sure I've been around long enough to be privy to the hat hatred, but my take on your case is that you require function far above fashion. So let's prioritize, first you want to limit damage from the sun, second, you want to look good doing it. Unfortunately the union of those two areas, by traditional standards, is slim.

Your recent purchase is a good start, but you'll want a wider brim to cover your neck and face, as teatimeattack mentioned. Also, the problem with most straw is that is has a loose weave, allowing light to still enter - it makes a big difference over a long day.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Pantropic Panama Player at $30 USD.
  • Tilley Lightweight Medium Brim Sun Hat at $80 USD.
  • Tilley Endurables TWC4 Outback Waxed Hat at $67 USD.

They are pretty neutral style, but are very functional. The last two, the Tilley's are well-made products and have a UPF rating of 50+, this means that they block more than 97.5% of incoming UVA/UVB rays. Also, even when wearing a hat, put sunblock on your scalp for the best protection. Given your fair skin, zinc cream might be a good idea.

So, I think those would be okay - you are on the job and need a work hat, so look for functionality.

I carry a backpack purse with just about everything but the kitchen sink. Besides the usual wallet / keys / lady care stuff: large first kit that includes personal meds, spare contacts, space blanket and some major trauma care; portable charger, tissues, small pack of wipes, flashlight, multitool, some snacks, this folding hat, earbuds, and some other random unmentionables.

I use a running hat. It's a bit dorky, but it works really well to keep sweat out of my eyes, and I sweat a lot.

For hot runs I wear this one and when it's raining I wear this one.

They have both worked well for me. I have a very large head and the first one leaves a bit of an imprint after runs, but it doesn't bother me at all. Purely aesthetic. I resisted getting a running hat for a long time because, like I said, I think they look dorky. But now I don't know how I ran so long without them.

I would take this to mean I need to add a little uniqueness to my style in order to make sure I'm not bland and forgettable.

Like, when it's cold out I wear this when I'm out and about.

I carabiner a small enameled-metal mug to my person and carry a cheap pocketknife.

I have a very small first aid kit in a little zippered pouch that I usually have with me: latex gloves, gauze (roll and pads), tape, bandaids, alcohol wipes, ibuprofin, benadryl, compact emergency blanket, moleskin, tweezers.

If I'm wearing contacts I carry a small bottle of solution and a contact case with me. Sometimes (rarely) the dust gets in them badly enough that I just need to take them out on the spot.

I also tend to usually have $10 or so with me in case I end up going by an Arctica location on my way home and the line is short. I have mixed feelings about this.

During the day I have a soft bucket hat that crumples up pretty small that I will pack if I'm not wearing a more substantial hat. It's something like this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0058YU18E/

At night I always have at least a headlamp and battery-powered glowstick in addition to whatever fancier personal illumination I'm wearing (EL Wire breaks and/or runs out of batteries more quickly than these things).

Wear a toque and put headphones over them? like this

Edit: So apparently toques are called beanies in america.

I've had this North Face beanie for years and it still looks new. It's also considerably cheaper depending on the color.

Some more advice:

Don't buy Matrix clothes. Matrix anything is usually pretty bad, since it's just Evike rebranding cheap Chinese crap and you should really get some decent clothes. Propper and Tru Spec have decent Digital Woodland uniforms. I like, and will always recommend, LBX, but they don't have Digitial Woodland. If you like the pattern, they have Project Honor stuff on sale for super cheap.

I wouldn't get a pistol. You're better off spending the money on something else like a nicer primary, nicer uniform, knee pads, a better optic, more and better magazines, or a nice speedloader. Maybe get a shorter primary to make up for it. this is airsoft after all. A long barrel means nothing.

Helmets are uncomfortable, hot, and unnecessary. A boonie or cap will be much more comfortable. If you get a cap, you can pair them with Howard Leight Impact Sports for great hearing protection, sound amplification, and radio audio.

I use this https://www.amazon.com/Sunday-Afternoons-VAH-Adventure-Hat/dp/B00EMABTSQ and its simply incredible. Super lightweight and keeps the sun off.
