Julbo Vermont Classics for my Cat4's. Who doesn't want to look like a 70's hippie mountaineer? The newer-style Julbos are great too for slightly better side coverage - I find there's a slight gap between the leather side panels and the lenses - but the lens material itself is the same.

A pair of Bloc Daytonas for my Cat3's - Selfie included! When it comes to 3's, anything with decent coverage and looks is fine - I spent £20 on mine and I've never had a problem with them.

I just ordered these. I haven't had a chance to try out the colors, but the polarized ones are great and the lens changing system is easy.

I've used these ones for 4 years

https://www.amazon.com/Julbo-Colorado-Mountain-Sunglasses-Spectron/dp/B001O0DN4K/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1522907520&sr=8-27&keywords=julbo

They are fucking great. I wish they were a bit more snug around the eyes though, I sometimes have to slide them up my nose. They have a slight sepia tone, which is easy to get used to. I've used them both on bright days on rock and on bluebird days in the mountains.

Hmmm... There's a lot of stuff that I would like to do with that.

Since I have a honeymoon coming up, it would be used for that. We would be going to Hawaii, staying in anywhere cheap (to stay under the $2500 limit), and enjoying as much sun and beach as we can. I also really want to do a volcano hike :D

If I was going there, I would definitely need to bring these subglasses. The sun will be out, and we'll be moving around a lot, so I need a nice pair of sports shades to keep my eyes happy!

Thanks for the contest!

Do they just mean non-mirror lenses?

You definitely want polarized lenses for watching the water - the polarization is the whole point in that in reduces glare.

I think they just don't want you getting something like this (below), with highly mirror polish finish. I guess they want to be able to tell if your eyes are open and where you are looking? That's the only reason I can imagine.

Not prescription but I use a pair of Tifosi glasses. Similar to this but I had the older version. Work great and have changeable lenses. They come with a dark tint and purple tint. The purple works pretty good for low light conditions, like under tree cover, but I did get a pair of yellow lenses. For the price I am super happy.

I had a really good experience with some cheapo riding glasses from Amazon. The “Torege” sport sunglasses. Only $22 bucks, with multiple lenses, including polarized, amber, and clear. They’ve been surprisingly durable, too!
If you’re looking to spend more money, a lot of cyclists swear by Tifosi glasses, as a cheaper alternative to Oakley, etc.

These sunglasses. They are cheap and work well. Ive had two and both fit great. Light doesn't leak in through the side or top which is the problem I've had with others. If and when i lose my current pair i will probably buy it again.

As others said: cheap stuff from Amazon. If you monitor Slickdeals you can get these for under $10 ever so often.
Fit my face well. Have 3 pair in my beach bag and can share a pair when someone forgot theirs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019MM7XUQ

I have been wearing this pair for years in the oilfield. Cheap and sturdy. They will last your whole mission if you take care of them.

There's not a lot of glare on mountain bike trails, so I wouldn't suggest polarized lenses being a requirement.

There are a lot of $25 sets on Amazon with interchangeable lenses and cases that work just fine for mountain biking without breaking the bank. That's what I use, and they work well.

These are the ones I bought, but there are literally dozens that are similar.

Helmet: Scorpion EXO-R410 Amazing price to feature value. Snell 2015 rated, easy swap visors, super comfortable, great airflow, etc.

Glasses: Native Eyewear Throttle These are amazing slim profile shades. I've worn Native for years, and their lifetime warranty is excellent. My set came with additional lens colors as well, not sure if they still offer that or not. Hardly feels like I'm wearing anything on my face. Super resilient frame and polarized lens composite material. Had a good size rock hit the lens once and only barely chip the surface. Can be found on sale occasionally throughout the year as well.

AMA.

Final roll, because I don't want to be a huge jerk.

These sunglasses are 3063, and would be perfect for playing baseball instead of my (now trashed) aviators.

Fun contest either way. Happy gifting!

Edit - Never mind. Your last edit rules these out too :P

I'm using these for almost 5 years now (they need to be replaced next season because of scratches):

https://www.amazon.de/dp/B005EG3NZE/ref=twister_B00BBAL4IK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I've got the clear, shaded and orange type.

u/symmitchry · 1 pointr/running

Bah, Tifosi. I tried them on for 2 seconds and they felt tight, heavy and cheap. Instead I was recommended, and bought, a pair of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Smith-Optics-Pivlock-V90-75-Sunglass/dp/B003VY80JA/ref=pd_sim_sg_1

Got them, they are really light, have a huge frameless lens so you don't have any vision obstruction, and come with 2 spare lenses and a spare nose piece. Plus they're cheap.

The only thing I noticed is that since I have a significant bridge of my nose, they ride a bit high (as all glasses on me do) but they fog up a tiny bit if I stop moving, because they almost seal on my forehead! But that being said, almost no glasses fit me well, and these feel great, thus far. I haven't worn them for any 30 mile runs (yet) but doubt I'll have any issues. No issues when I've been running at all.

oh, and the V90-Max are supposed to be bigger. I didn't try them on, the store just had 3 pairs of these ones. They are plenty big enough I suspect though.

Here is the amazon link. Try a site like Sierra trading post, chain love, uhh backcountry and there is another.. I'll edit it in

E: okay chainlove was a spin and from the same people as steep and cheap, but just use steep and cheap cause the deals are flame flame and flame.

You should try out Tifosi sunglasses, I bought a pair a while back because I didn't want to pay $100 for Nikes or Okleys.

i have this exact pair and for the price/quality balance is a really good deal. Plus they look awesome.

u/DStoo · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

Put it through drop tests. Throw a dummy off of a cliff.

I have glass sunglasses. I take them everywhere. I wouldn't think twice taking them snowboarding. My dad skiied with his for years. I have a pair on the tractor for mowing (they do have a safety rating).

Plus even in the brightest blinding snow I can see near perfect in them. The only thing we found to scratch a lens was my wife's engagement ring. They also have a nice hard case too.

u/reinhart_menken · 0 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I wear Julbo - I believe they call 'em ski/hiking sunglasses - that encloses area around your eyes and block out the sun and wind. Many will probably disagree but I believe any other sunglasses that don't completely enclose your eyes are just stupid and defeat the purpose because they let the sun in. It doesn't mean you're stupid nor that I judge you for wearing Rayban or aviators or whatever, it's just a stupid choice for me personally. My use case calls for complete coverage because I'm light sensitive, you might just be wearing yours for fashion and not blocking the sun.

Interesting fact that I learned while researching what kind of tint to buy, which many people I know don't know - the reflective tint isn't just for flashy douches, it actually works very well blocking out the sun while maintaining the color, instead of distorting or shifting the color into other spectrum.

Just got a pair of TOREGE glasses off Amazon for $26. Came with 5 swappable lenses. I wanted them for when I have ride home in the dark. The yellow lenses take up minimal room in my bag. I’m only 1 ride in but the polarized lenses worked great. Very comfortable. For, so far, we’ll worth the risk of $26.

I highly recommend these Neff Brodies. I've had them for about a week and Ive gotten multiple compliments on them. They're also quite loud if you're into that kind of clothing
