I have two MICHAEL Michael Kors large Hamilton tote bags. One is a little over two years old and was produced just for Nordstrom, in crocodile embossed luggage leather, with an iPad pocket and a crossbody strap. They've never made another one like it. It was an Anniversary Sale special for ~$240. The other is a year and a half old, an optic white Saffiano leather with gold hardware that I picked up from ideel.com (when they were ideeli) for ~$270.

They were both good deals at the time and are beautiful styles that don't highlight the label too much - nowhere does the actual name appear, though there's the dangling "MK" lock. But having said that, I'm really glad I didn't pay full price, and will not buy another MMK bag. The market is absolutely saturated with them and they're just not special anymore. In the past year, they've started showing up on all the discount and flash sale sites, and the retail pricing has become meaningless. If you never have to pay full price for something, and if it shows up in the "cheap" stores (Dillards) , it starts feeling less-than-luxurious pretty quickly. And who wants to pay $300+ for something that doesn't feel even a little bit special?

Any ladies out here looking for a cheap shoulderbag? Found these on amazon today while I was looking for one, they're so cute!

Is the Fossil Preston Flap going to be too small?

Are you opposed to Michael Kors? The Bedford Messenger is pretty minimally branded in the non-signature colorways (minus the hangtag) and comes in three sizes. I think it's an older style, so you might have a hard time finding the large, unfortunately. It's more of a bucket style, but it has a handy slip-pocket along the top zip that's basically invisible and perfect for phone storage. I was gifted a medium in PU signature and I really like the design but kind of hate that it screams MICHAEL KORS, so I feel you on the branding.

There's also the Sutton, which is a satchel pretty similar to the Pearl. The medium is the closest in size, I think, so you'd probably want to try the large. Also an older style, unfortunately, so also a little hard to find. Coach has a dupe called the Stanton Carryall currently in stores, but you may have already seen and rejected it. The Madison Christie is a similar but older style bag.

If you're willing to go vintage, the Coach City Bag is a messenger-style that's just a little bit smaller than the Natasha Q, it looks like. The Stewardess is also a little smaller, but closer than the City. You might ask on the PurseForum for a better fit--there's a big community around vintage Coach.



(I've been looking at the Lo & Sons Pearl and I'm concerned it would be too small for an every-day purse. My Coach City Bag is on its last legs, and my black Basic Bag is definitely too small. This is all the fruit of my labor.)

I have this bag. With the middle things clasped it holds most books but if I have a big one I can unhinge to create more space. Don't pay $300 dollars though. It's like $200 at outlet.
