It's this shoe (google with quotes on amazon domain) https://www.amazon.com/ZGR-Womens-Sneaker-Lace-up-Classic/product-reviews/B073TWW8NT

and it's 20 bucks. Assuming they get old in 2 months that's 6 pairs per year that's 120$ a year shoe budget, since you'll need other shoes (for snow, sport etc) its at least a 200$ / year budget.

I bough a good pair of salomon shoes 2 years ago for 89$ and I can wear them in town and for outside sport, they are so durable they'll last for 4-6 years.

I have better shoes that last longer for less money.

I wear 14 4E. Only brand I've found that fits is New Balance. This model is the ones I'm wearing currently. Gives ample toe room, as well as instep.

Is this the one you're talking about?

It's very cheap! Which one did you get, bk30, bk32, or bk40?

The Xero Prio is a pretty normal looking sneaker.

I've run down there in mostly just any old trail shoe. I've never had issues with feet up to... 3 hours outside. Hoka's are a good choice because they have a HUGE sole and your feet probably won't get cold. I've run in saucony peregrine as well. They make a peregrine ice+ which could be a great option. The surface isn't usually slick, but a compound designed for cold is going to be better. The tread looks decent (not as aggressive as the regular peregrine).

I'd say just make sure the fit is comfortable, I sometimes throw on a second pair of socks down there. I'll suffer on the treadmill below about -40 though. A calm day at pole though, the temp really doesn't matter. Hands can go fast, so definitely try out different things before you go out for a LONG run. That said, I've had a lot of times where I feel like I'm gonna turn around because my hands are cold, then the blood just starts really pumping and I warm up and I'm fine.

edit: the packed down track following the traverse really would be great for those peregrine shoes. Also the sea ice at mcmurdo is pretty much just packed ice, so something with a soft compound would be great. When I did the marathon there I just ran in hoka road running shoes and I was mostly fine.

The current winter site manager at Pole is VERY into jogging outside and if you're wintering he's gonna be your guy next year, too. He's a great dude and could probably answer your questions as well as appreciate a winterover reaching out about stuff.

If you wear a 10 and got some cash to invest in shoes...

Take a look at these:

Merrell Trail Glove 4 Shield Men 10 Radioactive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078NHGN43/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5tGzDbJ9QN04E

Water proof version of the trail glove 4. $67 but only size 10 is left.

I wanted one because the trails I run get wet and I hate wet cold feet when I'm exercising. But they didn't have my size.

Adidas Questar Trail Runners for me.

Water resistant. Understated enough to be dressed up a touch. Sturdy AF.

If it's a little wet (via rain or heavy early morning dew), I'll wear cleats. If it's dry, I'll tend to go with the trail runners.

Selling very lightly used Inov-8 Roclite 290 Trail Running Shoes, men's size 9.5D. Only wore them once for a couple hours on a dry trail, decided to go half a size up so hoping to recoup $40 shipped for these.

Happy to meet up if you're in the SF East Bay.

You can probably find the Vivos on Zappos or Amazon if you search around.

The Romaleos aren't ever going to really break in. They have a composite sole and their entire purpose besides the heel lift to give better squat depth is they are a hard composite material that allows a weightlifter to transfer the most force into the ground possible. In the late 80's and early 90's Weightlifting shoes had wood soles. You can look up some old Pendlays if you are so inclined.

I do know of the Altras but personally if I was going that route I would just spend $25 and get TSLA's on Amazon and throw them out after 6-12months.

TSLA Men's Trail Running Minimalist Barefoot Shoe, Baretrek(bk32) - Black & Grey, 10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HQKV9B5/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_z6-MDb908XK17

Like the Lems they do have that thing where the actual sole is too narrow IMO because of the arch. Vivo's are almost a completely flat bottom which makes me feel much more planted while I'm lifting. I want as much foot to ground contact as possible. I already have a high arch.

For home running, what kind of socks / shoes do you guys recommend? All the shoes that I have are used outside; so, I want to get something for indoors. Is this something comfortable to wear for running at home: https://www.amazon.com/Womens-Barefoot-Walking-Waterfall-Climbing/dp/B07KMPM5JX/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=toe+separated+shoes&psc=1&qid=1572509456&sr=8-2?

I bought a pair of these minimalist shoes from Amazon last week. I've now done a couple of runs in them, and they have been just fine. My other running shoes are Vibrams, and they're also really good - but these cost just £30?! Crazy!

(Edit: no commercial interest, just a happy customer!)

Check out the Salamon Speedcross series. I rocked a pair of the 3s for 2 years all over the PNW. Super lightweight, but very comfortable.
