Top Reddit comments about Women's Shaving Razors & Blades:

This "study" (if you can even call it that) is deeply flawed, unless we see some sources on where this person got these prices. I mean, the prices aren't even averaged, they literally took a random product from each category, and sometimes the products aren't even comparable.

For example, with razors. Where did this person find a $8 men's razor? If you look at the Amazon best seller list, women's razors (a reusable with 5 refills) are about $14, so that figure is accurate. But if you look at the Amazon best seller list for men's razors, the cheapest comparable option (reusable razor with 4 instead of 5 refills) is about $17 which is MORE expensive than women's razors. If you want to compare disposable razors, you can find both men's and women's for about $5.

Same with the watches. You're not even comparing two equal products. One is an understated, all black watch. Other is a very flashy, gem-encrusted watch. And we're supposed to be suprised that the one with the shiny gems on it is more expensive? Color me shocked.

Your lubrication is acceptable, though not great.

Your razor has too many blades, & you are clearly using too much pressure. Less blades is always better.

If you want to stay with Dorco Shai, then Dorco also has a 3-blade cartridge that should fit on your handle.

https://www.dorcousa.com/shai-3-cartridges-4-refills/

This is the smallest change you can make. With light pressure, it should reduce the razor burn you're experiencing.

Unfortunately, Dorco does not have cartridges with less than 3 blades in womens razors.

Venus does, though.

If you are willing to migrate to a different handle/system, Venus even has a single blade razor.

It's called the Waterless by Venus.

https://www.amazon.com/Waterless-Razor-Venus-Anytime-Without/dp/B01N63A38V

It's a single blade razor with gel contained in the handle. The razor is superb, but the gel is truly terrible. It's actually medical jelly, not shaving gel - so that it can be left on. Whatever you do, don't use the gel except in emergencies. Use the Satin Care you currently use. Completely ignore the gel.

Replacement cartridges are available, but only online. Waterless by Venus uses the same cartridge from the men's Guard razor, so search for Gillette Guard cartridges.

https://www.amazon.com/Gillette-Guard-Razor-Cartridge-Blade/dp/B01MU7J4DC/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3MNL4HOS1BBXA&keywords=gillette+guard+cartridge&qid=1558947379&s=gateway&sprefix=Gillette+Guard%2Caps%2C428&sr=8-3

https://www.amazon.com/Gillette-Guard-Shaving-Blades-Pack/dp/B078WWL54T/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3MNL4HOS1BBXA&keywords=gillette+guard+cartridge&qid=1558947379&s=gateway&sprefix=Gillette+Guard%2Caps%2C428&sr=8-5

This is a slightly bigger change for you to make. With very light pressure, it should reduce or completely eliminate the razor burn you're experiencing. Since these are single blade razors, pressure has to be kept light. These cartridges do not have any gel strip or lubricant in the cartridge, so your satin care must be spread properly.

If you are willing to migrate to a completely different platform, I'd advise you to consider using a safety razor. Maggards makes ladies starter kits with razor, blades ,soap & shaving brush all included in the kit.

This system has the potential of giving you very good shaves, but you will have to re-learn shaving technique, as these razors are used very differently from cartridge razors.

https://www.maggardrazors.com/product-category/ladies-corner/kit-and-t-shirt/

Using a brush & shaving soap is recommended. I do not advise using your satincare gel with a safety, though many do.

I've been shaving it with these eyebrow razors. I've been using them for about a year now, and I love it. I also shave the peach fuzz on my cheeks and jaw with those. My SO noticed right away and commented on how smooth and feminine my face felt (not that I was concerned with feeling feminine, but I appreciated the comment because I was worried it would feel like I had stubble).

I couldn't stand chemical hair removal or bleaching. It's just too harsh for me. I got sick of waxing it too; nothing store bought really worked for me, and I didn't want to pay someone to do it.

There’s a razor that they don’t sell in stores anymore, it was discontinued awhile back but it’s still available online (razor and replacement blades) called Silk Effects by Shick. I have used it religiously for many, many years because it’s perfect for that type of shaving. It’s a small blade with wires over it to reduce nicks and cuts. I’ve never found a current blade that is available to shave as smoothly and delicately as Silk Effects does. And because it’s discontinued in stores, the razor and replacement blades are pretty affordable from EBay or Amazon:) If you do order, make sure you get the Silk Effects Plus blades because they have a built in shaving lotion that makes it smooth to shave.
I’ll add the link to the razor from Amazon. Good luck!

If you still have longer leg hair use an electric trimmer to cut it shorter. Then you can shave them more easily while in the shower or bathtub. You will need to use something to lubricate your skin to make it easier to shave. For that you can use any type of shaving cream/gel and if you don't have any available hair conditioner works really well. If you have a 3-5 bladed razor those work really well to give you a closer shave with less chance of accidental cuts.

I personally like to run a bath with some moisturizing foaming bath and soak in that for a few minutes while using exfoliating gloves to remove any dead skin. The moisturizing foaming bath will lubricate the skin well enough that shaving cream/gel is not needed. Then will use a Schick Hydro Silk 5 razor to shave. Start at the ankles and shave upwards against the grain of the hair.

To make it easier you should trim your hair with either a beard trimmer or hair clippers. Then, take a bath as hot as you can stand and soak for a good 10 minutes. Then you may need to do some experimentation. I have better success with hair conditioner than shaving products. For one there's no menthol to cause irritation, and two it seems to make the razor glide better on my skin. You could also try something like Aveeno positively smooth, it has no menthol and has some conditioners that help with reducing nicks and irritation. I still prefer conditioner personally but everyone's skin is different. As far as the razor goes I just use a disposable multi-blade razor that comes in packs, something like this.

These razors off amazon are THE BEST. you get a bunch, and for cheap. They stay "slimy" a long time so that zero to little soap is needed for shaving. And 5 blades!! I have turned many friends onto them.

Nothing special. Just shaving cream, a razor, and 3 years of practice.

u/its_Anne · 3 pointsr/TransyTalk

I have this same problem, but I've had some preliminary success with using an exfoliating scrub every other day. You can make one at home for super cheap. You don't actually need a squeeze bottle like the website says, I just use a regular wide-mouth reusable bottle.

As for the razor, I've been using this one. The women's razors are nice for beginners since they have huuuuge moisture strips thingies, and they're very forgiving. I tried using one of those hipster safety razors since I used to use them on my face, but I ended up with way way worse razor burn. Probably user error, but I'd not relearn how to shave when I've got a razor that's mostly good enough already. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

GABRIELLA Womens Folding Eyebrows & Facial Razor (6 pcs) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KU2CA82/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xwc2DbKXW71VJ

I've always been a tweezer, but lately I've been taking care of the bulk of things with one of these and then going in with tweezers to clean up a couple of stray hairs at the edges or whatever. Saves tons of time. Gillette or Schick or someone makes a version you can buy in the drugstore.

u/IllIII · 2 pointsr/wicked_edge

Did you actually do a search for them? For under $30 there is "cerazor" that is marketed towards women, but I see no reason you couldn't try it.

Appears they market it as a benefit for those with allergies to metal. It does say not recommended for The people who put cutting ability ahead of minimizing skin trouble. and The people who frequently drop the razor. That makes me think the down sides are that it doesn't cut as well as steel and it needs to be handled gently or will break. The amazon reviews complain of shave quality, while praise that it is a non-metal option to shaving.

Few years ago, there were prototypes and hype for different men's razors that never came to market. There are also box cutters and scalpel blades done in ceramic.

Just checked, its been quite a while since I got this particular order. It was a 100 pack of Personna 2 blade razers. They fit the Gillette head. Price went up 10 bucks since I ordered last or maybe I had a sale.

Not completely sure if linking is against the rules but whatever. Even funnier is the list of 100 for sale that are for hospital use. Nothing wrong with those either.

Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Care razor, I had the same problem as you until I got this razor... link: http://www.amazon.com/Schick-Hydro-Silk-Sensitive-Razor/dp/B00HT6E2JI/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1425567523&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=Schick+Hydro+Silk+Sensitive+Razor

Afterwards apply Vaseline Aloe Fresh, really amazing with helping the dry skin... link: http://www.amazon.com/Vaseline-Total-Moisture-Fresh-Lotion/dp/B004X8NECG/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1425567270&sr=8-8&keywords=vaseline+aloe+fresh+hydrating

Edit: no shaving cream or anything needed, just use razor as is in the shower. apply vaseline after drying off before your pores close up to much :)

Edit 2: Sorry, thought of another thing! Only shave once a week, cuts down on the skin being aggravated by the razor and will keep eczema at bay

u/monochrome_daydream · 1 pointr/crossdressing

It sounds like you're pressing too hard with the razor, or using a dull blade.

Having a good razor is a must. I like these. When you shave, you want the blade to glide over the skin, without pressing into the skin. A good shaving soap might help. This is my absolute favorite.

Exfoliating between, or prior to shaving is a big help. A good loofah should only cost a couple of bucks, but it saves you so much hassle.

Don't get discouraged. After all, "practice makes perfect". :)

You can use these things:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071X8MK12/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_YSBXDbVK2WZ71

They’re in the nails/lashes/tools section of cosmetics areas in stores like Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc.

I got a dermaplane at a medispa (they use a surgical scalpel to remove hair from your face) and use these to maintain at home FT Shiseido Eyebrow Razor 3pcs x 3 Pack set (total 9 pcs) with Premium Oil Blotting Paper Value Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0722WKQ86/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_N.Y4CbQJMD61C

I'd buy my sister a house. Why? Because I've never had one person in my life that has given half a damn that she has for me. In fact, I'd give most of my winnings to making sure she's well taken care of. She's disabled but struggles everyday to make things work. I'm so proud of her it's unreal. <3

Razor Blade Refills would be super awesome, thank you!

u/SkillN0tFound · 0 pointsr/AmItheAsshole

See when you make a good point they just downvote and ignore. These people don’t get it, they market the pink one as girly so girls will buy it and up the price cause they think they “have” to get it. Not only that women’s razors are different from mens so no shit the price is different. Here’s a bunch of pink razors that aren’t even 50 cents a pop! But no you’ll buy the fancy one’s that are 20$ for one. They put the prices that way because they can, men don’t give a shit about colour as much so the price is lower. Make a change or stop complaining.
