A nice pashmina shawl would be warm and nice. Personally, I’d avoid white and I’d skip black. Tan, dark green, even blue (light or dark) would be nice with that color dress. Here are some nice options.

I personally like things like shrugs or wraps for dresses. That way you have options. Too hot, take them off; too cold, wrap up but don't obscure your dress.
For a shrug, you could try something like this Ivory dealy from torrid, For a wrap, i might suggest something like this lovely pink fluffy thing.
However, if you are outdoor or expect October to take a turn for the fridged, by all means, get the jacket you want. Be comfortable!

Haight street in SF is where I get a lot of my scarfs, but amazon has a huge selection as well. Just search pashmina and you'll get a ton of results.

Amazon has a lot of them that are essentially blanket sized. You can also find a lot of large blanket sized scarves at H&M usually. If you want to go all out, you can also knit or crochet them with whatever yarn you want.
There's also ruana that are like a poncho-cape thing. Huge, warm, and soft with arm holes.
And if you want to be kinda fashionable, there's stuff like this. It says "women", but I could see a guy rock it and look awesome. Tbh, I'm probably going to get this one lol.

I feel like it's better to attend in an appropriate outfit than to not show up at all. If you were to not show up then your sister can play the "Woe-is-me my sister must hate me she isn't here at my wedding, how sad for me." whereas if you show up in an appropriate outfit and she throws a fit then that is not your fault and others will see that.
