Hello! First and foremost, it is all about making sure your pH is balanced. A healthy vagina has a pH of around 4-5 - I recommend buying pH testing strips made for your vagina from a local drug store.

Your pH can be thrown off extremely easily - and while the vagina is self-cleansing, I do believe some people’s vaginas are better at doing this than others. Personally, I have to put in extra effort to make sure my vagina’s pH stays balanced, which is perfectly ok! It just comes down to understanding your body.

Something that surprisingly would throw my vagina’s pH out of whack was my boyfriend’s cum - cum actually has a pH closer to 7-8! As you can imagine, any foreign substance/object with a different pH than your vagina’s can throw it off.

Some general tips:

  1. Drink lots of water!
  2. Take a daily probiotic and drink kombucha in the morning!
  3. If you find that your vagina’s pH gets easily thrown off, which can lead to it tasting/smelling funky, consider this daily supplement from amazon: Balance Complex Vaginal Health... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KP2D0DC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share - it has amazing reviews and I have seen great results!!
  4. Take cranberry supplements
  5. EAT HEALTHY AND CLEAN I cannot stress this enough. Any foods that make your pee/poop/gas smell funky, will also make your vagina smell/taste funky.
  6. CLEAN THOROUGHLY with warm water daily!
  7. If you sweat, clean the area immediately - sweat in a warm environment is breeding grounds for bacteria! Even if you can take a clean washcloth with warm water and wipe down the area as well as the labia minora it will help tremendously.
  8. My vagina’s pH can become slightly more alkaline than the healthy 4-5 so to counteract this I keep a spray bottle in my shower filled with 2/3 water and 1/3 apple cider vinegar - I use this spray on my vulva every other day, and I spray it inside my vagina if my boyfriend cums in me to lower the pH back to 4-5 range (as mentioned before, cum has a pH around 7-8)

I am not a doctor but I have spent a long time educating myself on how to properly care for my vagina - not everything here will work for every one but this is what I found helped stabilize my pH to avoid chronic bacterial vaginosis or any funky ness :)

I used to get them often and found out I had fucked up my healthy bacteria. (convinced it was un-refrigerated shelf milk from a camping trip) I started probiotics and it was almost an immediate relief. I used to take them daily (high dosage, 3 BILLION, not million like a lot are). After about 6 months, I was able to cut back to 3 billion every couple of days, then I switched to 500 million about once a week. I haven't taken probiotics in months now since my healthy bacteria is back at it doing its thing.

I notice if I have an increased sugar intake, I will randomly get one. I pop a probiotic and relief within an hour. Lots of sugar will mess your healthy bacteria up.

For immediate relief, suppositories work. This was what I got 2 years ago when I had them often. Works immediately, but you have to take it before bed and wear a panty liner or something since it can be messy.

3 x MEDIPURE Medicated Body Powder 100% TALC FREE 200g (600g) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011LY2QAK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_l3v4CbT7MKPST

I use this when it's hot or when I have to wear a compression sports bra to exercise after struggling with horrible rashes for a while. I seem to recall someone telling me that you shouldn't use talc or deodorant on your boobs. I also use this spray:

Salcura 50ml Topida Intimate Hygene Spray https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00854SGQI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_z5v4CbD1JQEBZ

Seems to work for me. The spray is meant for downstairs to ward off thrush, but i use it on the girls too. My body just seems to love growing yeast at every available opportunity! Haha! The struggle is real! ❤️

You can buy Monistat from Amazon or from a pharmacy over the counter for a little bit less. My girlfriend just suggested this to me to post and she said it works perfect.

Well, the vagina keeps itself clean largely by virtue of its PH balance. Tea tree suppositories claim to restore PH balance, which is thought to prevent (and possibly treat) things like yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. It's important to be skeptical of naturopathic stuff, and I'm a big fan of evidence-based medicine, but as long as you're not in discomfort or suspect anything more than possible infection, I think it's worth trying a course of this stuff.

This is anecdotal, but I found it cured some musty odor I often had during my periods, and reduced my smell overall. This is the brand I've used.

oral medication wasn't working so my NP suggested getting these from a health food store. seriously worked like a charm.

All I can say is that the last time I had a yeast infection due to antibiotics - this stuff cleared it right up within a couple of days. And that was on a raging infection - every time thereafter if I started to feel a twinge, I downed some of this, and fended it off. Pretty cheap, can find it at most pharmacies, I believe.

Bacterial vaginosis? Try the OTC remedy and see if that helps. It won't hurt. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002Y4MVIY/ref=pd_aw_sims_1?pi=SY115&simLd=1

I totally understand what you are going through! I have been battling yeast infections for three years straight after being put on antibiotics. Seriously try boric acid suppositories, they work like a dream! You can make them yourself, or order them already made from Amazon (just make sure you keep them in the fridge or else they will melt). I would suggest also sticking with the candida diet as much as you can so as not to feed the yeast. One thing to consider is checking your hormone levels, I recently found out the recurrent infections were due to too much estrogen (estrogen dominance) resulting in an abnormally low amount of progesterone. Estrogen feeds candida like crazy, so maybe look into that to see if you are estrogen dominant and correct the problem there as well. Here is the link for the boric acid suppositires: http://www.amazon.com/Vitanica-homeopathic-Formula-Vaginal-Suppositories/dp/B004WPBYUY/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1462560161&sr=8-1&keywords=yeast+arrest

It's a turbo yeast. On the package it says Distillers Yeast. The amazon page for it said it starts to slow down at something like 20%, while the reviews said it slows down then, but keeps on going for a while more.

Despite it being "turbo" it still took a couple of months for the sweetness to be entirely gone. I think maybe I started it out with too much sugar? Maybe too little yeast? But I added like half a spoon full of yeast to each gallon jug which should be plenty. It says "Use about 0.125 - 0.25 Teaspoons of yeast per gallon of wort"

Edit: I might be wrong about the amazon page though. I ended up ordering it from ebay, and it had the same picture as the amazon page, but the actual package in person was different. The actual package is the one from this page. http://www.amazon.com/Dry-Active-Distillers-Yeast-pack/dp/B00FDXNT02/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1411013821&sr=1-1&keywords=dry+active+distillers+yeast

Yeast infections are yeast infections. So you buy the very same stuff that women use to cure theirs. Even if you don't buy this from Amazon, please be sure to buy cream. A lot of these yeast infection treatments come in suppositories. As a man that will do you absolutely no good (though I have known men to melt down a suppositories in a spoon and apply the resulting ointment). But the heat may actually make the the medicine less effective. In a pinch I have used the miconazole cream that they sell for jock itch. But for some reason it doesn't usually work as well. give it a couple weeks at most. If you don't get better, you got to find a doctor or dermatologist, dude.

Why not just buy some OTC antifungal treatment? It can be purchased at any drug store.

Also once in the ED, you can request a female provider but there is no guarantee a woman will be working at that moment. If you do go to the ED, your problem is probably a diagnosis that can be made by history alone. That said, a little vaginal bleeding is not big deal - these are the same people who deal with major trauma and homeless people who have not bathed in a year.
