I may be of some help. I was in the same position as you a couple months ago.
First you have to decide, wired or wireless.
Wireless: A lot people suggest the ps gold headset ($100). As a gaming headset, they're decent but from what I've read, the sound quality is not great. If all you do is plan to play games with it and you don't care all that much about sound quality then this may be your best wireless option. A better wireless option would be the Astro A50. Reviews seem to say that the sound quality on the A50 is pretty good but this comes at a much higher price ($300 new, $200 refurbished). SteelSeries also makes a good wireless option at the same price point of the Astro.
Wired: If you go on head-fi, everyone will say the best option would be to buy a decent dedicated full-size headphones(price here depends on budget), a separate mic, and something like this to connect to your controller. This is true but I didn't like this option. Having two cables going my controller to my head seemed like a bit of a hassle and I wanted as few wires as possible. I wanted a quality wireless setup, but I couldn't justify spending $300 for a setup I'd only use to game.
I did find the V-Moda boom pro which would replace the cord on their headphone's with an in-line boom mic thus eliminating one more wire. Paired it up with the V-Moda M80(You should be able to use it with anything form the vmoda line, but don't hold me to that, you should be able to find out yourself easily), which to my surprise got great reviews on head-fi. I bought them for around 80 on an amazon lightning deal. They're pretty good, especially considering the whole setup cost ~$100. Build quality is very high, sound quality is good, a little bass heavy IMO but that is perfect for gaming. I also wouldn't mind taking these out with me on the colder months as they're not too bulky. They also come with a pretty cool carrying case.
I'm very happy with this setup now and I think the next step up from here would be to get a wireless setup.
Hope this helps.
Source: I do have quite an extensive headphone collection so I do appreciate a good set of cans.
Thanks for telling my I'm wrong, but can you give my a reason why. It doesn't give you much credit otherwise.
> I'm always sad to see people naysay in the face of innovation.
Tell me were I said I don't want this. I never said it. If you actually read what I said, I said it was a cool idea, but hella expensive to make. No company would want to take up this job.
Also Figure prints is exactly like what I said. They do make it into one solid piece , so no articulation. But they are pretty expensive at $130 for a pretty meh looking design. The models are really good, but they way they apply color is pretty bad. And that is ok since WoW isn't the most graphic intense game out there.
But the big one. They say on their FAQ that is takes several months to make. In this time, they are making a new mold and hand crafting your character.
> We have so many ways to crank out custom pieces of plastic that look good. It doesn't take some master toy crafter.
Here's a quite directly from Figure Prints
> As a work of art, the FigurePrints® product requires a great deal of individual time and effort.
So yes, making these custom toys does require a ton of time and skill!
As a reference, This actual Destiny figure is $190. Now image having someone custom make that for you. It's gonna like like in the 200-300 range easy.
Like I said. It would be awesome to have this, but I can;t imagine any toy company doing this, unless Activsion gave them a ton of money. Tbh I might go and 3D print my own personal figure.
Vita has to be connected through wifi, PS4 can be connected through either wifi or ethernet, but you definitely want it connected through ethernet. When you're close enough to the PS4, your Vita will connect directly to the PS4 and works pretty great.
I've used it at my girlfriends house where they have slow internet and a ton of people on at the same time streaming tv, and I was about 30-50 ft from the router, it had noticeable lag and the graphics started getting rally blurred and it disconnected a few times.
Under best conditions, you'll probably want to avoid the crucible, because even with minimal lag, I think it purposely drops frames too keep the connection solid but this makes the controls feel..off. There isn't a lag, it just feels too sensitive almost. I tested it by playing with my TV still on (basically using the Vita solely as a controller) and it's very responsive and feels fine, but holding up the Vita to watch both screens at once, they both start and finish movements at the same time, the Vita just looks jumpy. It's not to hard to get used to and it works great for anything PvE, but the jarring feeling you get while turning can easily cost you a match in crucible.
Also, right bumper to fire, left bumper to ADS, feels natural obviously. But touch the right side of the screen to melee, left side for grenade, both easy to hit on accident. Center of the screen for nav mode. Tapping ▼ on the D-pad to sprint (feels easier than L3 on DS4 imo), and holding ◄ on the D-pad allows you to use ∆, Square, O, and X for your emotes.
I don't know if ▲ or ► do anything, and without R3 you can't check other players unless you go to the roster▲ on the D-pad is for character highlight, and it looks like ► doesn't do anything. Wish they would let ► allow you to compare items.I personally love it though.
Edit: Anyone considering this should also consider getting a grip for the Vita, It makes a huge difference imo (cheap one here).
Edit 2: Control Scheme. Apparently ▲ on the D-pad is Character highlight.
Depends on what you expect out of time investment.
You could easily get 60 hours of content out of D2 Vanilla and currently it is $22 on Amazon.
I'm sitting at ~300 hours played so far with a couple breaks here and there for a breath and to finish some other games. You do run out of game given goals and sometimes have to make your own, but there is content there.
If you truly are looking for an enjoyable experience I would avoid comparing in to D1, because stand alone it is a good game, but nostalgia and rose colored glasses can tint your viewpoint.
In the end play what is fun to you. What value do you want out of $22?
I bought this back in 2013 on a super sale (it was like $80) in preparation for moving my main computer over (currently 80gb SATA2 SSD for essentially the OS). Turns out I am lazy and never did it so this drive was literally empty in my case for 5 years lol.
I bought this this week to get it hooked up to the xbox. Took all of 5 minutes of painless setup and about and hour while I prepped dinner to transfer. I've already easily saved that time in loading screens.
It's worth it, I'm definitely happy. Be sure you get at least a 256GB SSD (xbox requirement).
If you get one make sure to get these grips for it, so much more comfortable to play on.
I like it for light solo missions, bounty farming, etc. It is excellent for mobile casual play. I prefer to stick to my PS4 and dualshock for major missions (Nightfall, Weekly Heroic, VoG where things get really intense) and PVP.
It really depends on how much you want to spend. You can get a 2TB drive for less than $100, and a 1TB drive is even cheaper. I went with a standard HDD, but you can also go with an SSD (solid state) if you want the best performance. I've not looked at the load time differences between drive types (SSD vs HDD) but its a matter of a few seconds.
Heres a nice article with suggested drives: http://www.gamesradar.com/best-hard-drive-for-ps4/
The big thing to remember is you need to get a 2.5 inch laptop drive. The 3.5 inch desktop drives wont fit.
One last tip. Oddly enough, the external hard drives in a case like this are sometimes cheaper than their "naked" counterparts.
I recommend getting one with a case. You'll need to use a screwdriver to crack open the case to get the actual drive out, but afterwards, you can place the 500GB drive from the PS4 into the case, and get yourself a nice 500 GB external drive to use.
I was looking for a new PC headset and got lucky when i found this:
http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409959016&sr=8-1&keywords=hyperx+cloud
The deal breaker was that it is also compatible with PS4. I got pretty lucky because they were selling these at PAX Prime for 60 bucks.
Edit: forgot to say that I am extremely happy with it, it is very comfortable and the sound quality is great.
Have you tested remote play over the internet yet? Some people don't realize the upload speed required. (at least 2mb/s upload is OK, 5mb/s is recommended i guess)
To run you press the down arrow ..
Otherwise - I use mine all the time.. and honestly the only issue is with aiming. The analog sticks are not nearly as good as the dualshock 4. I added a grip to mine shortly after I got it which helps and there are some analog grips you can try that might help.
grip - http://www.amazon.com/PSVita-Trigger-Grips-Sony-PS-Vita/dp/B0072A4JVW
analog stick pads - http://www.amazon.com/Bluecell-Control-Controller-Joystick-Playstation-Vita/dp/B00G3TV6Q4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421277829&sr=8-1&keywords=ps+vita+analog+stick
Also the sound can get out of sync pretty easy..
I'm using the HyperX Cloud Headset.
You can get them from Amazon here. And it's really not unnecessary hype, the headsets truly are extremely comfortable and the 53mm drivers help. :)
I also chose these over the SONY Golds, as comfort for me plays a big deal in buying a headset. Also, the aluminum construction made me sway towards these headsets more.
I know you stated you only want to go 150 but is saving another 30 possible, if so....
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FBV6V56?pc_redir=1412320489&robot_redir=1
The set i use in white, I know alot of people say their hyped up but i can attest to their quality and overall comfort, I've worn them for hours on end and if you wear glasses like i do they do not bother you at all. Either way hope you find a good set.
Also they do say 360 but they are compatible with all systems.
The headphones and mic? The easiest way to do it is by using something like this to combine the signals from the mic and the headphones and plug it into either your PS4 controller or X1 chat adapter. In the case of headphones like the Philips X1 that use a 3.5mm input (you plug one of these into the headphones), you can use this, which automatically combines the audio output and mic input signal. Once again though, that doesn't really matter as of now. TL;DR: Use an adaper to combine the mic and headphone jacks and plug them into your controller, piece of cake. If you want more info, you can check out /r/headphones and ask some questions there. We're generally a nice community :)
I posted this in a different thread about the vita. I got a vita a few weeks ago for Destiny. Absolutely worth the purchase. If you are looking for a good grip to go with the vita, check this one out. This grip makes it feel kind of like the dualshock controller. Definitely makes it easy to hold and play. Also, in order to get mine to connect I had to update some of the ports in my router for the PS4. You can find the guide here. You just find your router on that page and then follow the instructions. Very simple.
The PS4 controller uses a 4-pin 3.5mm connector. You can get an adapter for $6 that will break this out into a standard stereo headphone jack and a microphone jack, which will let you use a standard PC gaming headset, or separate headphones and microphone.
Here's the splitter:
http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-MUYHSMFF-Headset-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B004SP0WAQ/r
Then you can use literally any pair of headphones and microphone, or PC headset (non-USB). For example:
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Stereo-Headset-H150-Cloud/dp/B005DKZTNK/
Obviously some of the ultra-nice headsets like the Astros sound well, like you'd expect something that costs hundreds of dollars to sound, but you can find "middle ground" headsets that are good enough.
If you want game audio coming through the headphones, make sure to set it in the audio options on your PS4!
Thanks for the great info, time to order an SSD.
Can somebody help me figure something out? I am looking at these two SanDisk SSD's. This one is 480 GB and on sale for $69.99 and this one is 500 GB for $84.99. Would they both work with an external enclosure? Is the 480 GB version something different? The dimensions are roughly the same as all of the others but it doesn't have 2.5" in the description anywhere.
Thanks guardians.

This was an excellent find. I went and even ordered myself ones. Thanks for sharing! I also included a quick link to the Amazon.com reseller link.
One more thing I forgot to mention. It's worth investing in a Vita grip if you plan to play for an extended time. There's a few you can find on Amazon that are inexpensive. Just make sure you know which Vita you have. I have a first generation which are slightly bigger so some grips will not fit.
This is the one I use: CTA Digital PS Vita Hand Grip https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0073ESZ58/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_dizOwb55ENZ1B
https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/how-to-upgrade-your-ps4-hard-drive/2/
It's a fairly easy process if you've ever fixed up anything in a computer before. Still fairly easy even if not. As for specifics; nothing really. Depends on how much you are looking to spend. I got a 500GB one myself, but my PS isn't my main console (Xbox gamer). You could always get an external 3.0 drive as well if you need extra storage and just keep the main games you play on the SSD.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0784SLQM6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm ready.
For this game alone i bought a new tv, a new gen console, a sound bar, a gaming headset, and I returned a broken controller to MS and I am saving the new one for launch.
I'm ready.
On another note if anyone is looking for a good gaming headset for ps4/xbox one check out this one: Gaming Headset. Its amazingly comfortable.
LOL! I have EVERY Destiny Mega Bloks set available to date along with 6 multiples of the two sparrow kits that come with a captain and a shank. I will have to remember to take a picture when I get home. And yes. Slippery slope indeed. I already preordered the new $200 Cabal dropship that comes out next month.
Thanks. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/ol/B01J7S03VG/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=all

Figure you'll like this. :)
Sure i'd be down! Although you can find it on Amazon here if you want i can ship it from Amazon to you in trade for the posters.
I got the one below and did an internal install. Best upgrade ever. Launching D2 from closed went from 2 mins flat to 57 seconds. The actual hd swap is super simple (~10 mins). The longest part is backing up the files beforehand (ran it overnight) and reinstalling the system software after (took a few hours to install then copy everything back) but it’s not hard if you follow the instructions on Sony’s website.

So like other people have said, get an SSD. I was always the one lagging when loading in with my fire team, both other people were playing on X’s and would load at exactly the same time, with me following at least 30 seconds later.
After switching I did some tests from loading the game up logging in a loading into the tower I was under 2 minutes which is a huge difference from what felt like 5 minutes (probably an exaggeration). I am on wireless and I don’t think wiring would make any difference. Another test was me loading into the tower about 10 seconds before my buddy that was in the fire team that’s in an X (he’s wired on fiber, another reason I don’t think wired would help any)
I no longer load jumping the gap on the way to the oracle in the dreaming city.
Here’s what I bought
Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - CT500MX500SSD1(Z)
Inateck 2.5 Inch USB 3.0 Case
Just remember not all SSD’s are the same, some are faster and I purchased the top part of the middle according to a test that I read, Evo’s were the fastest is what the were saying I just didn’t want to fork over the extra 40 bucks for an Evo drive.
I just got one. They really do make a difference, especially if your system memory is getting full.
I got away with spending only $75 for 480GB
Be careful though.
I saw a lot of no name chinese knockoffs at $50 that I would not trust.
Your most cost effective route is to get a drive and a $10-$20 enclosure separately.
Last month i got mine on sale for $12 off.

the UASP is the important bit for utilising the speed of the ssd.

Literally the first thing is says on the page.
This is from Amazon, for the PCH-1000 series (the original OLED model).
I personally have a Kingston HyperX Cloud and it's amazing, but you could just buy the basic headset for whatever console you use. Also note that if you want to use anything other than the microsoft headset with the XB1, you need the chat adapter
you get used to it after a while.... get these grips or something similar, they help keep your hands more confortable.

£20 in UK on Amazon - PS4 link and Xbox One link.
I have done the same. For anybody trying to do so, just buy these 2 items off of amazon:
Samsung 860 EVO 250GB 2.5 Inch SATA... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07864WMK8?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
ORICO USB3.0 to SATA III 2.5"... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M08LCXW?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
Those links contain everything you need. Once you have them, connect it to your xbox and transfer destiny to the ssd from the internal storage and you're done.
Amazon is having a sale too in the US!

~$100 Off
Yeah it does sound like the splitter is the issue, I managed to find a few other people with the same problem and they fixed it by messing with audio settings, which didn't do anything for me. So it must be this thing. Kinda a long shot, but any suggestions for one? I got this one because it got decent reviews, but I guess it wasn't compatible with PS4.
Another commentor recommended this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M08LCXW?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
Got it at a local walmart. You can get it on amazon here.
Amazon link in the story gives you 404.

That thing cut my load times on Xbox in half on my non-Destiny games. (I play PC).
Xbox one supposedly requires a minimum 256gb SSD (or HD) for external use. Try these:

UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS A LIMITED TIME SALE, IT'S BACK UP TO FULL PRICE NOW.... BUT HERE'S THE AMAZON PAGE FOR IT ANYWAY.
Sorry if unclear: I meant the actual physical boxed version, like this: Destiny Limited Edition Xbox One
Destiny: Grimoire Anthology - Dark Mirror (Volume 1) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1789091373/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_4ULMBb433QZQJ
They do have a listing for it, it just says Unavailable
One of them is Dark Mirror, and the other is just "Volume 1" What's the difference between them?
This is what i use to do exactly what you just said.
I actually use a sennheiser pc headset and plug it into this which goes in a usb port.
You can also use this and plug it into the headset/mic port on the controller.
Try this one maybe

EDIT It seems to have been pulled again. That's weird.
EDIT seems to be back on the page again
It must say SSD specifically in the title and description of the item. For Example (External SSD)
Now it is literally cheaper and someone with no tech knowledge or know how can buy an internal SSD and put it in an "enclosure" to make your own SSD.
Internal SSD &
Enclosure
HERE'S WHAT I HAVE BEEN NOTICING AFTER BUYING AN SSD:
So, pre-SSD, console performance sucked in terms of load times (UI/menu, queue up for PvP/Strikes, heading to different planets, etc...). However, without the SSD I would actually be able to play without getting so many damn error-codes!
POST SSD: I ordered a Crucial MX500. Transferred ALL of D2 onto it. Load times are AMAZING! Viewing inventory right away. Travel times are fast. Just a bit slower than PC. HOWEVER... the really bad thing is that wasn't mentioned was that internet overall sucks! I get error codes thrown at me constantly - TRYING TO CONTACT SERVERS - uuhhh what? Why all of a sudden things don't "work"? I did some testing with other games. Warframe just on my External - ran perfectly. Diablo - same thing. I got RDR2 over the weekend (yes it's solo I know but wanted to check anyway), ran perfectly on only External.
Not sure why D2 on my SSD just went to shit. Haven't played it since last week.
Ah. I seem to have confused SSD with External Harddrives. My bad lol
mine is a year or 2 older version of this one. Probably not SSD then
No dac or mixamp in the controller makes the sound quality subpar not to mention a serious lack of volume and bass. I ditched my soundbar and went with a refurbished pair of A40's from amazon and couldn't be happier.
