You'll find most if you look for "reflective green tape". Most types have a sort of diamond pattern on the tape. I'm guessing this would do: http://www.amazon.com/TapeCase-3277-Green-Reflective-Tape/dp/B007Y7HWMQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1453386782&sr=8-2&keywords=reflective+green+tape
This one will most likely work too (better at closerange, worse at distance): http://www.amazon.com/TapeCase-3437-Green-Reflective-Tape/dp/B007Y7IRSY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1453386782&sr=8-3&keywords=reflective+green+tape
Don't get the tape that appears to be very lightgreen. Darker green is better. In my limited testing with tapes, without a diamond pattern works better for closerange, but this isn't conclusive and with some adjustment might even work well at large distances. I've improved a lot in the algorithms as well; if you like to test get without diamond pattern as secondary.
Alternatively, get a green light filter, put it over the flash and use plain white/silver reflective material (I've got similar materials in small localshops. The filter you get at officesupplies, the grey/white/silver reflective material from a $5 safety vest or just as tape):
Sample of safety vest; it's not tape but works: http://www.amazon.com/Neiko-Visibility-Yellow-Zipper-Reflective/dp/B0030AA3YK/ref=sr_1_3?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1453387694&sr=1-3-spons&keywords=safety+vest&psc=1
http://www.amazon.com/Reflexite-Brand-Conspicuity-Tape-Diamond/dp/B00LGYS57Y/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1453387424&sr=8-8&keywords=reflective+tape
http://www.amazon.com/Transparent-Colored-Window-Film-Sample/dp/B00ORVX4RO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1453387525&sr=8-3&keywords=green+transparent+film
Don't spend more than a few bucks on the material unless you verified that it works well. It's really all cheap stuff, but people tend to overprice and sell it bulk. A good way to test if the stuff works in store, is to load the apk on your phone and see if it tracks the marker in the store. If you're not shy of compiling, compile the apk with SHOW_CAMERA set to false in Config.java for a good debugging view of reflectivity.
Edit: Also, if you're testing in store, check for return angles. This means if you view at an angle of 45 degrees, see if that works well and so on.

Please understand, this is not a functional cell phone. We'll it is functional but I only use it with Wi-Fi for the Gear VR. NO cellular service.
I am heavy into Drones with live video streaming. One of my onboard transmitters was getting very hot. So I wrapped the transmitter with heat sinks. Problem solved.
So I figured why not try the same thing with the S7.

Searched for a few days, but found the solution on Amazon.
You will need to purchase 2 items.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HSBM72W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Tools Needed: A good fine tooth saw, fine grit file and some patients to get it perfect.
Here are some pics of my solution. Never have had another overheating problem.
First the thermal Adhesive.

The heat sinks com in 2"x2" and will need to be cut for maximum surface contact.

I cut mine like this.

Then mix adhesive and apply to sinks. put in place quickly, then placed a few pounds of weight on them until the epoxy dried.

Final product.

Thanks! I'm sitting here with one of these trying to remember my optics to see if there is some sort of test you can do that doesn't require measuring, but rather seeing if your FOV changes or something but I can't seem to come up with anything. I'd just go test the thing myself at my local best buy but they just don't seem to be getting the new gear VR in any time soon, and I was hoping to order one prior to christmas.

its not a bad idea, but just be mindful of the additional weight. It may not look like much, but keep in mind how aware people were of the weight difference between the Innovator and Consumer edition headsets.

Though my Note5 headset doesnt overheat, Ive still been looking at something along the lines of these listed bellow..more so on the bladeless wearable fans etc etc Search around for "wearable fans" there has to be a better option than adding more frontal weight to your headset.

Good luck!

These V-MODA M-80s are 65% off for the next five hours on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Noise-Isolating-Headphone-Shadow/dp/B00I9UKKS0/

They are pretty well regarded on head-fi for comfort and not requiring an amp to drive, important criteria for mobile use: http://www.head-fi.org/products/v-moda-crossfade-m-80

I personally use a pair of Fidelio X1s with a one foot headphone cable with the Gear VR.

By using a Sinjimoru Card Pouch normally used for credit cards and IDs on the backs of smartphones, you can stick your headphones, the Samsung-provided micro-USB to USB-C adapter, and a dust cloth for your lenses. Fabric is stretchy, so it should accommodate all of those easily and still be able to close up against the headset to keep everything nice and organized.

Yes loving my Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro phones. They are discontinued but have incredible sound and bass that I did not know as possible for a set of headphones. Would buy Beyerdynamic again for sure.

How's the noise on that fan? I was literally just looking to upgrade my fan, because I have a little 25mm on my GearVR and it's not doing the job anymore. I was looking at this, which I know will be quality and a known dB level.

So a device like this seems to be a good solution http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Android-Smartphone-Tablet-SDDD-032G-G46/dp/B00HR78S2Q. But it seems you're not asking about hardware, but rather, is there anything more to move to the external storage than just the .apk/demo/video

u/baroquedub · 1 pointr/GearVR

Yeah, you can reuse them. these are the ones I bought. No longer available but I'm sure there are others. Dimensions are the only thing that matters, so they sit nearly in your gearVR headset https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00JDI6J9Q

If you have a 3D printer access here's a 40mm fan holder I made

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2930153

You'd need to buy a 40mm fan (very cheap) and solder it to a loose USB cable. Or you can get it already soldered but the USB cable might be a bit short : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TR4H812/ref=twister_B07TJRDFGG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

If you have an s6, you may be able to set the Gear VR's USB port to Note 5 mode and then buy one of these right angle micro USB cables. http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Micro-USB-Cable-UUSBHAUB3RA/dp/B001AR4NC8

That's what I'm doing, just waiting for it to arrive.

These work really well also. I tried the fog wipes but they didn't last long enough for me. These you pop in and they just work, no fog. Reusable also.
