If it is below 80°C I would not worry.
Especially in a laptop they get quite hot.

The GTX 1070 GPUs thermal limit is at about 95°C-105°C.
But of course it is better to keep the card as cool as possible to maximize its potential lifetime.

You can maybe try a external cooling pad like this one if you want to improve temperatures: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-Laptop-Cooling-Powered-Ultra-Slim/dp/B0164R64Y8/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_229_bs_lp_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=WBPQ5P60RJ5VWZZKJ7D1

Thanks everyone for your responses. Here is a dumb question. But.. I need to ask. The power supplies I am using are EVGA Supernova 1000 watt G2. It states they are rated for 100-240v. The L630 plug with PDU is 208v setup.

https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Vertical-Rack-Mount-PDUV30HV/dp/B0012VN0I0/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1516596882&sr=8-2&keywords=l630p+pdu&th=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=oskoin-20&linkId=1cb71ee8826c1d8f3973a81f0386eb15 This is the PDU I am looking at currently.

Will the Power supplies I have work fine with this setup being that it is 208v and not full 240? I think that answer is yes, but I want to make sure.

And also, not to add more separate posts, from what I understand, I would use a normal plug-in with surge protector for my items such as fan/portable a/c, and computer monitor right? The PDU is for the powersupply of the GPU rigs only.

the sad thing is it's more powerful than my home laptop which I got for free from one of my teachers lol. I'm gonna try and get that set up as well problem is it has potato specs... https://www.amazon.com/Dell-E5400-Latitude-14-Inch-Laptop/dp/B002UIVK0E

Not sure why p6 is 1, but it’s disabled.

I get over 2k consistently with the Vega, if I crank the fan above 85% and change power to only -20%.

I can take a picture later, but I have this case:

Corsair CC-9011014-WWCORSAIR Carbide 300R Mid-Tower Case, Window Side Panel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006I2H0YS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_I5xwDbF767G16

with this MoBo:
ASRock ATX DDR4 Motherboards FATAL1TY Z170 Gaming K4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012D7GXNK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_U6xwDbVQY852S

This R9 is on top of the Vega. Those two vents shown on the case each have Noctua fans attached to them running above 65% at all times.

also how would you attach the risers onto this?

u/zarraza2k · 1 pointr/MoneroMining

you are correct!
i'm also doing what /u/speedflychris is doing.
you can pick up a "pair" (both rx and tx) for like $30 I think.....

Ya I️ got the same bs concept different company...

Are the ones you got better?

I️ don’t really get the power sata tbh.
My RX 480 boots but not my Vega 56... going to switch the riser out in a min and see if that’s it.

I would recommend against WiFi. I originally had a rig setup on WiFi that would drop packets intermittently, not a big problem for someone using a machine to stream video, but if you're running 24/7 those drops start to add up. If possible, I would suggest you use power line ethernet adapters if you cannot run ethernet directly from a router to your machine. They are fairly cheap and I've found them to be extremely reliable. Here's one for example: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Powerline-Adapter-Starter-TL-PA4010KIT/dp/B00AWRUICG/

The profit will vary quite a bit with the price, but at the current rates, I'm guessing it would take 1-1.5 years running continuously to break even (plan for 1.5-2 years). Furthermore, remember that the breaking even is not necessarily a good investment; the finance side of me would suggest putting the money in a retirement account or index fund where the money would be making 4-7%/yr on average.

I haven't priced anything out in the $15,000 range before. I suppose you can go with multiple 6x RX 470/780 machines at $1.5-2k apiece. I do not think that purchasing expensive CPUs makes much sense, even at this price. Consider cases that may cost more but add modular functionality.

Also, consider buying a battery backup with Automatic Voltage Regulation such as this one when dealing with expensive electronics.

I was going to go with this board

Gigabyte X570 I AORUS Pro WiFi (AMD Ryzen 3000/X570/Mini-Itx/PCIe4.0/DDR4/USB 3.1/Realtek ALC1220-Vb/DisplayPort 1.4/2xHDMI 2.0B/RGB Fusion 2.0/Gaming Motherboard) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T9PC9ZZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_noZZDbVA7FS2M

Nope, I am running EthOS and it's not a shutdown, the battery literally get sucked dry. It seems odd to me as I would think the battery should only be in use when the power supply is not available, but that appears to not be the case. My guess is the power draw (1500w effective) is too much for the UPS. Looking at the UPS I tried on my rig, it says 900w. Perhaps that is the issue.

I spent the last few hours taking everyones considerations and inputs and i compiled this build, very similar/near identical to the Ethereum mining build

I think this is all i need correct?
