I wrote this up on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG241QX-2560x1440-Adjustable-DisplayPort/dp/B01NCTHS6E/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=aoc+agon+24&qid=1563386331&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Version:

I got the 24" G-SYNC Capable version.

Current usage as of this writing:

50+ hours.

Summary:

Overall, this monitor is solid. Especially at the sale price I got for $230... I freaking love this thing. I'd even recommend buying it for $300 if you see it around that price. Anything above $350, I'd maybe look at other options, but it will cost you *at least* $400 for these same specs, but you may have better quality control (light bleed). Yet, it still hard to really deny this great monitor for the price under $350. This takes me to my pros and cons.

PROS:

- I didn't think 1440p would be that great on a 24" as it seemed it wasn't as necessary as for a 27". But I was very wrong there. The pixel density is actually SUPER nice to have.

- For color and viewing angle, as most TN panels, especially at this refresh rate of 144hz and response rate of 1ms, the color is okay. Obviously a professional graphic designer isn't going to pick a monitor like this because it's not relevant to their needs -- like at all. But for gaming it's great. Especially with some calibration (just Google "AG241QX calibration") and it was a lot better. It's pretty vibrant and the shadows/black parts are dark.

- I actually really like the headphone mount they have too.

- I don't use the switch it comes with, but it could be handy based on your setup or wanting to change calibration on the fly without using the monitor buttons. It is a cool add-on that I could see some people wanting to use.

- They have 2 (I think) USB 3.0 ports as well. This I could see being useful if you want to plug in something quick. All the ports are really accessible. I have my main Windows PC, 2012 Mac Mini, and 2018 Macbook Pro all plugged into this thing running 1440p.

- Fully adjustable. That's it. Great movement. I'd say that it would be nice if it move left to right a little more, but that's just me being really picky. It has pretty good movement and I'd probably never want anything more than what it is but just want to point that out.

- It has speakers? I guess? I don't know. Why do you want this in any monitor? Yet, they're there. Go for it, I guess.

CONS:

- The only downside like others are saying is the light bleed (and it's not even that bad). I'd say there is a gamble, you may or may not have it but I do and it's *really* not that bad. There is a one streak where the LED is shining through in the top right corner, but if the monitor is showing any bit of output from the monitor that isn't just initial black screen, it's unnoticeable. I would disregard other reviews saying "it's unusable" but like I said earlier it could be a gamble. In any case, Amazon is really good with returns and I'm sure you could get it replaced pretty easily.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading and hope this helps.

I also want to state I am not getting paid for this review.

Here is a quick list I made in another post.

Most of the monitors here are free sync and I would say have good implementations however I will include a Gsync category.

I would not recommend 4k for the 2080. It would be able to run games around 60 fps at 4k however refresh rate will make things more enjoyable. Also, 4k high refresh rate monitors are currently very expensive.

Good value companies to look at:

Viotek

Pixio (Did not list since availability issues but worth looking at)

Nixeus

More established companies to look at:

Acer

Asus

Samsung

LG

Gigabyte (They have one monitor on the market)

TL;DR of VA vs IPS

IPS has slightly better viewing angles than VA.

IPS has slightly better colors VA.

IPS has better response time than VA.

However, VA does not have defects like IPS glow and much better contrast, so much better blacks and such.

TL;DR of TN vs IPS

IPS has much better viewing angles than TN. TN will color shift if looked at straight on.

IPS has much better colors than TN.

TN has the best response rate.

TN is basically worse in every way than VA and IPS except for response time.

I just picked up this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077DSZRVZ/

It seems ok after making adjustments. However, it only came with 1 set of VESA screws. Dual arms, but only 1 set of screws? Come on now... It supports 20lbs (the most important part). Not sure how much the Alienware weighs, but you will want to compare that spec. Here's a guy making a review of this stand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6IpG8oqwU4

Also images of my arms: https://imgur.com/a/XYwU1Lp

The Amazon Basics one is a little bit more and actually supports a little more weight but I can not vouch: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Premium-Dual-Monitor-Stand/dp/B00MIBN71I/

Here's just some notes from my research as I was looking for one...

The main design differences are:

  1. Wall Mounted
  2. Desk Clamped on back of desk
  3. Hole in Desk and Mount to Desk with screw(s) or wingnut

If you notice, there's a few other different design elements:

Basic Design Clamp WITH Adjustment Mid-piece (Not sure what the official terminology is) Bestand/Amazon design I mentioned above

  • There is a "middle" point just above the bottom of the base that is adjustable. This can be swiveled to further give some flexibility in the way it's mounted.
  • Some of the dual arms don't have that piece and just goes directly from the desk clamp into the arm.

Basic Clamp Design WITHOUT the Adjustment Mid-piece (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CWQ5S1Q/)

  • Notice that the arms go directly down into the metal piece at the bottom.
  • The middle piece is not there and there's no swiveling.

    Single pole design (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077X9Z7MT/)

  • Each individual arm can be swiveled independently on the pole itself (similar to having the mid point piece, but each monitor is independent)
  • Some poles support up to 3 monitors
  • Each monitor will have different height abilities which may be a good thing if you want one monitor to sit on top of the other
  • May have slightly less horizontal distance since each arm sits on top of one another instead of spaced horizontally from the other arm

    Horizontal Only Adjustments (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA/)

  • These seem to only move horizontally and not vertically
  • Will make it easy to keep monitors straight, but less functionality
  • Notice the arms fold out behind the monitor. Must have real-estate behind the desk to support that (also applies to other designs, see below)

One other thing to consider when using the Desk Clamp Design or Wall Mount Design is that the amount of space you have behind your desk is going to dictate about how far out your monitors are going to be from the wall. Because you cant swivel the bottom half of the arm all the way around, then your top half + it's angle is going to determine the closest you can get to the wall.

The top arm on the Bestand is ~11 inches. I adjusted the bottom half all the way until they were hitting the wall. I was able to swivel the middle piece slightly so the right monitor could sit a little further back than the left one. It's still about 15" away from the wall which is a little closer than I had with the stand.

However, something I just realized is if you move the center swivel adjustment piece higher, you can probably get the monitors closer to the wall because the top half of the arm angles downward. So you will get more of an angle when the middle piece is higher up which should make the monitors sit further back.

If the bottom arm had an adjustable height that would make it easier to make it sit closer to the wall.

Obviously, the hole-in-desk design will give you the ability to mount the arm base further away from the wall so you can swivel the arms further backwards if you need to.

tl;dr trying to figure out what's important for me. Looking for 1) ~27", 2) curved (just a preference), 3) high refresh rate (not sure how important this is), 4) IPS (not sure how important this is), 5) 1440p (or 1080p?), 6) VESA mountable, 7) low blue light, 8) flicker-free, 9) tiny bezel for a multi-monitor setup for long hours of non-media and non-gaming related usage.

Looking to get a new monitor setup and have put in some 15-20 hours of research, and I feel more lost than when I started.

For programming/reading/daytrading (and not gaming/doing media related stuff), what should I be looking for and what criteria should I be evaluating? I'm trying to maximize screen area across a multi-monitor setup (4-8 monitors total for 2 rows) and ease on the eyes for long hours of work (so: flicker free and low blue light), I don't really care about color range/trueness.

Size: looking for 27" as that's the largest that can realistically be mounted on a desk stand in a multi-monitor setup.

Panel type: TN/IPS/VA - what's best? I'm seeing a lot of conflicting opinions but it seems that TN is cheapest, VA best for gaming (?) / media, IPS best otherwise?

Curve: I think I prefer curved - opinions?

Resolution: 4k seems like a waste, leaving 1080/1440. It seems that the limiting factor for taking in data from my monitor setup would be my vision as opposed to the number of pixels per screen given that I'll have at minimum 4x27" monitors. If that's true, how much advantage is there really to 1440 versus 1080?

Refresh rate: is high refresh rate actually worthwhile/easier on the eyes [for not gaming]?

Response delay: Not really a consideration for usage unrelated to gaming.

Flicker-free/low blue light: Sounds nice, potentially the most important factor, but horribly subjective -- how do you actually quantify this? It's listed on some monitors and not on others, but never quantified. Is this a real/worthwhile thing, and am I to just believe that it works fine on any monitor that mentions these features?

Mounting: looking to get a 2x2/2x3/2x4 monitor setup, so VESA mount is critical. Further, it seems that I'm realistically limited to 27" monitor size due to monitor stand limitations (I don't want to mess with wall-mounted arms). If there were some good >30" monitors I might be able to make a 2x2 setup work (Samsung's 49" looks sooo fantastic but seems tragically awkward/difficult to make work in a multi-monitor setup due to weight/size).

Brand names: Recommendations? I keep reading through horror stories about dead pixels from foreign/less heard of brands that only produce monitors. Anything to watch out for?

Some monitors I've been looking at:

(1)

pros: 27", curved, 1440p, 144Hz, VESA mount,

concerns: VA and not IPS (is this even bad?), doesn't mention "flicker free" (but it's 144Hz? are refresh rate/flicker-free even related? idk), complaints about dead pixels

https://www.amazon.com/VIOTEK-GN27D-Curved-Computer-Monitor/dp/B078P57ZWL/

(2)

pros: 27", 1440p, 144Hz, IPS (!!!), mentions flicker free, good brand

concerns: not curved, pricey, doesn't mention low blue light

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CH9ZTI4/

(3)

great (best?) brand (Asus), 31.5" is a good size but might be awkward/hard to mount, options are straight+1440p+75Hz and curved+1080p+144Hz rather than the ideal curved/1440p/144Hz, really great sounding blue light/flicker free tech (subjective though)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=0JC-001P-00A25

(4)

Asus, 27", IPS, 1440p, not curved, pricey (165Hz is overkill)

https://www.amazon.com/PG279Q-2560x1440-G-SYNC-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B017EVR2VM/

(5)

Asus, 27", IPS, 1440p, requires out of stock adapter to VESA mount, low refresh rate

https://www.amazon.com/Designo-MX27AQ-2560x1440-Frameless-Monitor/dp/B00VRKVGSC

curved+IPS+high refresh rate+1440p seems like a hard combination to come across, though I'm not sure that those are important features.

I pulled the trigger on a Samsung C32HG70 over the weekend cause the price went down to $460 on Amazon. But the price jumped to $550 today!

I highly suggest looking into the LG 27UK650. It has 4k with HDR. It's an IPS display also (amazing colors but slow GTG latency). The only down side is that it's 60hz, so it's a bit weak on the PC side. But this is a good deal right now on Amazon at $396! It's the cheapest it's ever been. If you want amazing colors at 4k... this is your best bet. If you want 144hz with 2k super sampling, VA Panel with 1ms GTG and also has HDR... go with the Samsung C27HG70.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV/?coliid=IH05Q9ZMG3Y6&colid=3OAWWDZBFQ45P&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

(Side Note) Even though Samsung C27HG70 and the C32HG70 are 2K monitors, the PS4 Pro downscales everything to 1080P for all monitors that are 2K. THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE with the Samsung models. The PS4 Pro recognizes these monitors as 4K and the monitor will do all the super sampling. In my opinion, this is an amazing feature that I've only seen on this Samsung display.

Amazon sells an Ergotron arm that's branded as AmazonBasics Premium Single Monitor Stand. It's 100$, but is half the price of the Ergotron branded one.

And your sketch made me giggle, haha!

Edit: Added links to the Amazon & Ergotron models. If you look at the Amazon product in black, one of their images shows what's included in the box. If you view this image and look at the manual, at the top left is the Ergotron logo. I used to have two of these Erogtron branded arms from 2005-2017. They are AWESOME though spendy--the Amazon branded one is a great deal. Great articulation/adjustment options. I have junky monitor arms in my office and they work as far as holding your monitor, but you can't adjust on-the-fly, they require tools to tighten/loosen bolts and feel flimsy.

You will drop some frames going to a 1440p monitor, but 60-144 hz is a huge difference and pretty much the biggest difference of all right now. It will also help somewhat with aliasing due to the greater number of pixels on screen at once.

If you have any intention of upgrading your GPU at some point, 1440p is an even more attractive option because those GPUs will drive 1440p even better.

Quick edit: I also say I'm very surprised at the cost of that TN panel from ASUS. Their premium on ROG is insane. For that price you can literally get an IPS Acer Predator or save a good chunk of money on the equivalent TN panel

u/LyorCohenOfDiorHomme · 3 pointsr/Monitors

1ms response time 240hz 1080p monitor. one that fps esports players use is this: https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Response-eQualizer-Adjustable-XL2540/dp/B01MCYUV19

These panels are all about speed and minimal delay rather than graphics quality, so they're mainly used for FPS esports games. If you play games like CSGO or Overwatch these types of monitors are ideal, but not for games like witcher 3 where immersion and graphical quality is more important than fps and response time. IPS panels are not ideal, as they generally have more delay, and 1440hz or 4k are also not ideal because you may not be able to push enough frames, especially for PUBG which is super poorly optimized. CSGO and OW may still possibly be able to run 240fps on a 1440hz or maybe even 4k display(there are no 240hz displays though lol), but I'm not sure exactly. But if you're not absolutely serious and 100% devoted to having an advantage in FPS games, a 1080ti with a 1080p monitor may be kind of a waste when you play other kinds of games.

edit: also as a suggestion for mice, lighter mouses are ideal for FPS games with optical sensors. Some great examples that FPS pros use are the ZOWIE FK1/2 or the ZOWIE EC2/a/b/1/a/b series, or the Finalmouse Ultralight. Logitech g403, Steelseries Rival 600, and Razer death adder elite are also pretty good, but the Zowie and the Ultralight are the most e-sports player approved.

I'm using a Benq XL2420G with my PC for gaming and a 5k iMac for most other things at home. I considered the Asus PG278Q, but some of the quality complaints scared me off and I've been pretty happy running a single 980. There is also the Acer XB270HU IPS 1440p 144hz g-sync monitor coming out soon that looks to be a pretty nice setup and might even push me to upgrade once I see a few more reviews.

My requirements at the moment are something greater than 1080p for work and a g-sync (or freesync later) monitor at 144hz for gaming. If I only played games where I could easily get 144fps I might be able to forego g-sync for lightboost, but I've been happy with g-sync in bf4 and wouldn't want to play without it now.

I'm using a really old, shitty desk purchased from Walmart like ~10 years ago and have 0 problems with stability. I was worried for a little while that it was going to just tip one day or even just break the desk but it's been going strong for about ~1.5 years now.

Here's the mount I'm using...

I have a 27" QNIX and a 22" Asus mounted to it and it's been nothing short of perfect. The arms can be titled and move horizontally but the height isn't very adjustable, at least not easily. You basically set it to the height based on pre-drilled holes on the vertical standing arm (the part that mounts to the desk) and just stick a screw in to hold it there. If you want to adjust height you'll have to remove the screw and likely take the monitors off before sliding it up/down. If you want something that's easily adjustable in height, you'll be spending more in the ~75-100$ range as opposed to ~40$ for a less-dynamic model.

It sounds like you may just have a single monitor though... If you have no plans to add another then I'd just get something like the Amazon Basics for 99$ or the Mount-It! for 39$.

The Amazon model gives you pretty much the maximum adjust-ability but it's a bit pricey (not really, other mounts are just cheap). The single arm Mount-It! I linked is a little more adjustable on-the-fly than my personal mount I posted earlier but costs about the same as the dual-mount.

Also, I use a sit-to-stand desk at work and love it. I get pain in my lower back from my terrible posture and generally can't sit still too long without getting up to walk around a bit. Being able to stand and work whenever really helped limit my back pain and I love being able to move about. The downside is that they're pretty damn expensive... For a reference, we have Ergotrons where I work.

If I had to guess I'd say it was this model specifically. That whole 'desk' mounts on your actual computer desk and can be raised/lowered and adjusted in all sorts of positions.

edit and now that you've got me looking into all of this again, I'm thinking of upgrading to something more adjustable like the Amazon Basics mount but a dual-monitor version. IMO just skip the cheaper model and get something more dynamic like the Amazon mount.

It's ok. It's well reviewed which is important, but the price is higher than i would go for those specs, and its the biggest absolute budget brand.

It does have speakers integrated which is a nice bonus if you dont have any.

There's no reason to get it over something like this though which is a lot cheaper, bigger, better brand and also has speakers.
https://www.amazon.com/Dell-D2719HGF-Response-Speakers-FreeSync/dp/B07J4SXNQ5/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=1080p+144hz&qid=1562782883&s=electronics&sr=1-3

But really I don't understand why you are buying a new monitor. you have a 1440p 144hz monitor that may have amd freesync. That's already much better than either of these. Maybe explain your usecase. Also i should clarify that many people at 144hz don't really care about freesync gsync as much, they are mostly beneficial at lower hz.

I think this is the monitor for you. exact size you seem to be wanting, g-sync,1080p, speaker, and 240hz!
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XF250Q-Cbmiiprx-FREESYNC-Technology/dp/B07G3GRFSZ/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=1080p+240hz&qid=1562783128&s=electronics&sr=1-5
slightly pricier, but it seems like money isn't tight for you, and this would actually offer some benefits over that 1440p 144hz monitor you have.

Though perhaps your real issue is your gpu, and you should spend that money upgrading it, if you are getting poor performance.

u/_-KAZ-_ · 3 pointsr/Monitors

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to 4k screens. But yea it's probably possible if it's 4k at 60hz without HDR. For web design development (if you mean graphics as well as code) it would be good to get an IPS type panel.

Had a quick search and found;

  1. LG 27UD68P. Old monitor, but still popular.

  2. LG 27UK650. Hey! It's got HDR10, but not sure if that's true or marketing. 500 bucks though :(

  3. Dell P2715Q. 400 bucks. Make sure you have a GPU with Display Port for 60hz, as according to the specs, HDMI is only 30hz.

Also don't be afraid to look for 32" 4k monitors. The pixel density on those are excellent too.

EDIT 1: Added more info on products listed.

EDIT 2: Actually the Dell S2719DM that you linked is probably the best option.
u/ll3ubbles · 3 pointsr/Monitors

Ok, what's your budget to begin with?
And what's the main purpose of the monitor? (Gaming, art, design, etc..)

I recently bought a Dell S2716DG/R for my gaming rig and was pleasantly surprised with the picture quality. (Upgraded from a 1080p 32" TV monitor.)

Specs of the Dell
-27" screen
-2560 x 1440 at 144hz (DisplayPort)
-G-Sync
-1ms Response
-TN panel (I know you're looking for an IPS)
-Color Gamut (typical): 82% (CIE1976), 72% (CIE 1931) Color depth: 16.7 Million colors
-DisplayPort and HDMI
-2 USB 3.0 ports

Price: Bought it on 08/26/2017 at $449 (Best Buy) (Wait for the price drop, maybe you can get it for lower.)

Now, there's a 24" version that I've seen go down to $380 at Amazon. Dell 2417DG

If you can try to see the monitor in operation before buying, go check it out. But, it's been an amazing Switch for me and the colors have been way better than my original screen.

^ This is my pick.

Description | ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q 1440p 144hz 1ms TN Panel Gaming Monitor VS ASUS MG279Q 1440p 144hz 4ms IPS Panel Gaming Monitor Mainly to help a friend and anyone else looking into these two AWESOME monitors. The comparison is mainly between the two display panels since other physical features are seemingly the same and you can already find that info elsewhere (Amazon, Newegg, Asus website, etc.). Although the video clips are of course not 100% precise in visual representation, they are unedited so you can at least relatively differentiate the two monitors. Please excuse the poor lighting and lack of space on my desk for better footage. My room was never set up for tech comparison videos. This was quite the random undertaking. Sitting here with a x34 predator and 27" asus 1440p display below my 42" 1080p tv flanked with 2016 15"mbp's. I can say you don't need all of this to be more productive for work (though it's nice).

For work: Largest productivity improvements for me are 1440p displays as the workable space is fantastic. I don't recommend anything less now. I work with code, documents browsers and terminals so for me having nice looking text (no glow, high pixel density, etc) was paramount. The https://www.amazon.com/PB278Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Ergonomic-Back-lit/dp/B009C3M7H0 was my first 1440p display and while i had to buy 2 (first one had issues, not convinced of the QC) the second has been flawless and the build in stand offers lots of flexibility (vertical etc). It's currently $400 but you can find it on sale cheaper occasionally and i'd say its worth the extra $100 if you can swing it.

For gaming the 1060 will be sufficent for 2560x1440p and depending on the type of gaming even teh 3440x1440p. I'm currently running the above 3 displays off a 970 gtx and while its not optimal i dont drop below 50fps often and typically well north of 60fps (doom3 is 80-100fps with highish settings).

Still waiting for a good 36"-42" 4k display to check enough boxes for me.
edit: Just spotted https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VRKVGJG/ref=s9_simh_gw_g147_i1_r?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=W7V1VNPMJRKEWH6TSNYH&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=6aad23bd-3035-4a40-b691-0eefb1a18396&pf_rd_i=desktop for under 300 on amazon. Might fit the bill for you.

you're an fps main then, therefore, i recommend <BenQ Zowie XL2411P> its the best for fps or samsung if you like Samsung but these are 1080p which i recommend, however.
this thing is so perfect whatsoever, AOC Agon AG241QX.
worth mentioning, i saw Linus reviews the 27" one he said the colors are bad but anything else is perfect, yes these exact specs have 27" but i recommend the 24"
actually if the shipping wasn't $160 for me i would've had it but I'm going with the zowie it's much much cheaper for me.

u/Satk0 · 1 pointr/Monitors

You're going to have a hard time finding a good selection. The 1920x1200 resolution is becoming increasingly rare.

That said, I have two Dell U2412M's I bought 2-3 years ago. I love them! They check every box in your requirements... but the problem is that newer versions of the monitor (Manufactured after like mid-2013) have a pretty strong yellow tinge to them. I wouldn't get a new one anymore.

You could try this year's model- it's more expensive and I can't vouch for it personally, but it seems to fit the bill.

u/degnebbit · 1 pointr/Monitors

Lastly (sorry for all the replies) do you agree with Rtings that the LG 27UK series is superior to them all in value? https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-Adjustable-Stand/product-reviews/B078GRM2MV/ref=cm_cr_othr_d_show_all_btm?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews Looks like their main reason for supporting it in that Nvidia can support it.

Really most IPS panel monitors will be good for design. But if you want specifics this site is really helpful.

http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/de421880d

I have the LG compared to the ASUS I have. The ASUS is 1440p, is maybe $50 more and has a bit higher of Adobe RGB coverage. But yeah use that sight to research the monitors you're looking at, it's a great resource.

Also if you're interested in the ASUS here's a link to it on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PB258Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Monitor/dp/B00VRKVGJG

I'll make my vote for the 4K LG 27ud68 to best compliment your 27" Dell. Amazon link. 60hz/ 5ms/ 300 cd/m2

Sometimes goes near $300 when on sale. I just got the 27ud58 (bigger bezels, simple stand and less bright) and I love it. I think the 68 model would be perfect for that bezel less screen duo.

u/Bobbydd21 · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I'm in the same boat. Looking to upgrade from 1440p to 4k.This LG monitor looked nice: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CH9ZTI4/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_img?_encoding=UTF8&colid=20MYFDJH3YOHS&coliid=I2CJYQRQRCM13N but the reviews say it has a pretty strong anti-glare coating. Would really like a glossy 4k monitor under $500. Are there any options??

Thank you so much for the help! I also saw this PC on amazon, any thoughts on this, thanks!

Sale is on amazon.com: www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MSOND8C/ref=sxts1

I kinda wanted the same thing for my ps4 as well, but the ps4 I b have can't do 1440p so there's no added bonus. I don't know which one you have or if all ps4 can't go 2k. (I think I heard tell of one on some gameplay trailer called a neo) but your best bet is to just use the ps4 with a 1080p monitor/tv.

That's what I'm hoping for at least for myself. I finally pulled the trigger on the pg278q from amazon for that price. It's the lowest I've seen it.

u/lechechico · 9 pointsr/Monitors

How much would you like to spend?

You are US based correct?

Is there a preference in screen type (IPS vs TN vs 'best-of-both' VA/AHVA)?

What kind of games do you play? Shooters vs RPG vs Explore?

Basically 27" is standard 1440p fare, ~30-34 start to become widescreen 3440x1440 (IMO, a great monitor but pricey)

A safe, and good bet is the Dell S2716DG that you will not regret.

u/Zeag · 2 pointsr/Monitors

As you said, it's very unlikely that the 680 will push 100+ fps in recent and upcoming titles; this being said, you don't need rock-solid 144fps to enjoy the benefits of 144hz ;)

Do you use your PC a lot outside of gaming (such as for photo / movie editing)? If so there might be other incentives to upgrade to a 1440p display or even a 4K display. Personal rule of thumb: 1080p for 24" and below. 27 inches = 1440p (1080p+AA is kinda ok). Above = 4K (1440p+AA at 30" is fine as well)

It also depends on your budget... If you're planning on getting another GTX *80-something or equivalent as your next GPU down the line, you probably won't have trouble running these resolutions, but even a GTX 970 will start wobbling at 1440p.

If you want ultimate futureproofing, sell both kidneys and get a acer x34.

Hope that helps!

u/smashnmashbruh · 1 pointr/Monitors

Save money, don't get gsync, its not as important as 144hz or 250hz. 1080p allows for high frames as well, if you are stuck on 1440p that is fine, its just less frames.

FYI for monitors its all about making sure you get the panel you want, then finding the actual monitor manufacture that has bezel and features you like.

My recommendations

There is a 300 dollar or so one that some times goes on sale at Best Buy or Amazon. Best Buy Amazon There is also a 24inch version on Amazon apparently. It took me having 2x980s at the time to run games decent at 4k, even some of those I couldn't max. I ended up with this instead when it died. It looks a lot better than the 4k, obviously more expensive, but I love the thing.

u/WhyDoYouBlock · 2 pointsr/Monitors

That one's pretty good, not that I recommend 27" 1080p but if it's the one you think will be the best for your usage, go for it.

Only thing you have to do to it is adjust the settings to get the best color out of it. Other than that, it should be a reliable monitor.

u/Riruuji · 2 pointsr/Monitors

oh i just realized this is for your ps4! my apologies!!!

for ps4 every game is capped at 60fps so there would be no point in getting a 144hz monitor as your ps4 wouldn’t reach 144fps.

this is probably the best console monitor as it has a 1 ms g2g response time which means it’s going to be extremely responsive!

if you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

u/rcioffe · 1 pointr/Monitors

You can get a stationery monitor mount, which allows you to pull the screen closer, tilt, and rotate, but doesn't allow individual height adjustment for each monitor such as this.

Or you can get three individual mounts, which allow full mobility (up, down, closer, farther, & rotate) such as this.

There's double/triple versions of these as well. Double. Or Triple.

Good brands include: Ergotron, Ergrotech, VIVO, & Amazon's version. Mount-It and Cable Matters both make some as well, but I haven't used these ever.

u/WhatWhatWhatWhyWhy · 1 pointr/Monitors

I'm trying to choose between this monitor from Amazon, with Dell's 3 year warranty, or an alternative LG at Best Buy with a 4 year Best Buy warranty... would you say your experiences with Dell customer service have been mostly positive so far? If you truly have no budget. May I recommend a g-sync 21:9? This is a [beast of a monitor] (https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-UltraWide-Widescreen-X34/dp/B016GNX4SE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1469540543&sr=8-2&keywords=Acer+g-sync+21%3A9)

21:9 gives you the most immersive gaming experience with a larger FOV that makes traditional 16:9 feel cramped in comparison. Later in the year there are more ultrawides in development with even higher refresh rates like native 100hz-200hz thanks to DisplayPort 1.3/1.4. But that acer I suggested will be plenty fast.

u/THEJEWSCONTROLUS · 1 pointr/Monitors

Well you are limited to a TN panel then, but also you really want gsync or freesync (depending on the gpu you have).

this is the best you can get: https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG241QX-Gaming-Monitor-2560x1440/dp/B01NCTHS6E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503532459&sr=8-1&keywords=1440p+144hz

its $340 plus tax, so around $370 (depending on the state)

u/zenki_ · 1 pointr/Monitors

Depending on what you play you won’t have too much issues going 1440p. Unless you mainly do competitive games then the smaller res/size might be a better option.

If you plan on upgrading down the line and still want AMD then freesync is the way to go. Recently upgraded to this display and was really surprised. Do some research on this one Nixeus EDG 27

For 27", 1440p, 144hz, 'IPS' (AHVA panel), the best one near that price is the [Nixeus EDG 27] (https://www.amazon.com/Nixeus-27-Inch-FreeSync-Certified-Range/dp/B071G6PGP7/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1520018526&sr=1-2&keywords=nixeus+edg+27), currently $420 on Amazon. It routinely hits $400, so shop around.

If you value G-Sync due to using an Nvidia GPU, you can get the same specs (TN panel instead) from the Dell S2716DG/DGR, which routinely hits $399 at various outlets.

Be patient and you can score either at $399.

u/SchmeckleConverter · 0 pointsr/Monitors

Definitely take advantage of the FreeSync adaption if you can! Looks like these monitors ballpark around $200 USD, so I would recommend this Asus VG245H.

There is also the 144Hz version of this model that's listed at $277 USD, but u/guitarstix did link a similarly-spec'd LG monitor at a much better price.

I'm not particularly familiar with the AGON brand and I assume the fact that it's not "brand name" is why it's cheaper. Although spec-wise it IS comparable to the acer monitor you linked and reviews from the Amazon link I gave sound like people generally like it.

I have looked at the samsung its pretty good at $250... but i rather spend $100 more and get this Asus instead. Its $350 on sale at the moment.

u/Pyronees · 4 pointsr/Monitors

You're going into the very questionable part of monitors right now. All those monitors all use panels made by AUO and are all "IPS like technology" and not true IPS. AHVA is what it's commonly called. These monitors are the AOC AGON AG271QG, Acer Predator XB271HU, ViewSonic XG2703-GS, and the Asus RoG Swift PG279Q. They typically range in price from 500 to 800 USD new depending on sales. The Acer Predator has been found at Costco twice in the past year on sale for $500-$600 USD and sometimes less depending on the Costco location.

You can find specs here http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/ffbdef8b

Make sure to do your research before buying any of them. They're known to have some quality issues and it's often referred to as a lottery. Make sure to buy from a retailer like Amazon where you can easily return them or exchange for another if you encounter issues. I recommend searching this reddit for reviews, pcmonitors.info, and checking out overclock.net. You'll find plenty of information on those websites and see peoples experience. I personally tried buying the Viewsonic once and had some bad blb in the top right and bottom left corner that was a yellowish/orange color. I returned it.

If you're not liking any of these, then there is the Dell Gaming S2716DG which is a TN panel. It's known to have good color, but it has some sleep issues and color banding. Only around $500 USD and escapes the gaming aesthetic if it's not your thing. Samsung is also expected to be releasing Quantum Dot 1440p g-sync monitor sometime in the future, but I don't know much about that.

Response to edit: Acer does have some g-sync curved monitors, but they're not 16:9 aspect ratio. There's the Acer x34 which only goes up to 100Hz when OC'd.

Well, I'd prefer to stay under 200. I found a really nice Dell 27" 144 hz. I'm just questioning its compatibility with g-sync with my gtx 1060. I looked at the questions answered and it claims to be. I just need more reassurance.

would you trust buying a used one from amazon like this

u/padmanek · 2 pointsr/Monitors

>IPS would be ideal but I would be able to make the exception for TN if it's good and cheap.

1080p 144hz IPS displays do not exist.

1440p 144hz IPS displays you're looking at minium $400.

u/MeRollsta · 1 pointr/Monitors

Here you go:

TN 144 Hz Panels:

  • Acer XG270HU (sold for $300 on Black Friday)

  • BenQ XL2730Z

    IPS 144 Hz Panels:

  • Acer XB271HU It was just released, so only Amazon has stock popping up every now and then.

  • Acer XB270HU

  • Acer XF270HU

Note that the TN panels color production isn't as good as IPS Panels, but the ones which i mentioned are native 8-bit panels, so they're much better than your typical TN panel.

Btw, which graphic card do you use? If you're using AMD, you would want to go for a Freesync display. If you have Nvidia, then go for a G-Sync display.

u/MothFindLamp · 1 pointr/Monitors

Don't be scared to upgrade your computer. As long as it's not a super compact build, swapping out a graphics card should be pretty straightforward. You can find many tutorials and guides on youtube on how to replace a graphics card.
Here's a guide by Linus Tech Tips on installing graphics cards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyDxrTHDjXQ.
I would recommend a gtx 1080 or 1070 ti for high framerate 1440p gaming.
The acer xb1 monitors are relatively inexpensive g-sync monitors, coming in several configurations: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N11QIYW/?coliid=I3TG2AGJYQR75C&colid=1B3MPQKLGUEYF&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1.

u/patroniton · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I think it all depends on how the stands hook the monitor up to the actual stand. I think mine's just a hook-like design like you're describing and I think it would work for your use case (not at home atm so I can't confirm).

This is the mount I have at home. The X looking parts have a top hook that goes into the stand bit and then has the one screw that you can see in the middle of the top X part that helps hold it in place.

u/cad_deal · 1 pointr/Monitors

Actually the majority of IPS panels are 60Hz. Newest models often supports 75Hz but it isn't the norm yet.

Gsync/Freesync is always useful especially if you have dips in your framerate (low FPS). You could go with this model:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824011232&Description=75hz&cm_re=75hz-_-24-011-232-_-Product

and buy a separate monitor arm because you'll restrict your options otherwise. Something like this : https://www.amazon.com/North-Bayou-Monitor-Computer-14-3lbs/dp/B01AI2YGK4/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=gas+monitor+arm&qid=1555689818&s=gateway&sr=8-5

You can go much cheaper though if you don't want VESA/stand though:

Also, keep it mind that at $200 usd, you can buy a 144Hz VA panel such as this:

Thank you for your reply kind sir.
However I don't really get why 1060 is not enough for 1440p.
My last computer was a laptop with a 880M and had a 2880x1620 resolution. I really noticed this difference between my laptop and other monitors.
From this benchmark the 1060 is way superior, it goes in hand with the processor. Is the size of the screen a heavy factor in performance ? Should I buy a 24" then ? I don't really mind if I can get closer to my laptop resolution.
I surely will loose in fps but as long as I have 60fps I will be fine with it. I will always have the possibility to lower the resolution of a fps(shooter) if I want more fps. And when I will upgrade the gpu I won't have to upgrade the monitor.

For now I think I will be looking for a sales between this kind of monitors :

no G-sync

no Ips

both

What do you think ?

u/Jodobak · 1 pointr/Monitors

You can still use the monitor but I don't think it can utilize G-sync.

For FHD (1920 x 1080) , This monitor might be a good alternative.

Dell D2719HGF (144Hz, TN Panel, AMD FreeSync, 2ms) is currently $ 180 on Amazon.

Note: You might wants to look around on either r/buildapcsales for more deal or r/hardwareswap for used monitor.

u/NickingNinaj · 2 pointsr/Monitors

This is very helpful, thanks! I had considered it but the 8ms response time initially had me rule it out. After reading the review you so kindly linked, I'm definitely considering this monitor now.
I'm a bit torn between the Dell you linked, this ASUS, and this BenQ.

u/Penguin474 · 5 pointsr/Monitors

This is exactly what I want too. 27" 144Hz and G-sync. Here are the 3 that I've found and bookmarked and have been price-checking religiously:

u/Minibjorn · 1 pointr/Monitors

I wouldn't even know what manufacturer to go to for a monitor in that price range.....

Jump on Amazon and browse through monitors, until you find one that fits the bill.
I almost think the best option for your need might be to buy the cheapest monitor you can find, maybe used, that has a VESA mount and buying an arm, such as this: Link

So I've been doing research for a similar monitor with a similar price range. Bottom line is you're not gonna get a "real" hdr monitor for under 500 right now. Just the psuedo ones. Anyway here are some monitors I've been keeping my eye on.

Dell U2718Q ($460 on us amazon)

u/Nezzynot · 1 pointr/Monitors

I plan to get a 1080ti in a couple months once they follow previous trajectory and drop lower in price so I'll really be happy to have the new monitor now.

I've been considering this monitor a lot:

https://www.amazon.ca/Acer-Predator-X34-UltraWide-Widescreen/dp/B016GNX4SE/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1536259913&sr=8-4-fkmr1&keywords=1440p+ultrawide+144hz

It looks pretty damn good, any thoughts?

u/theunknown1017 · 1 pointr/Monitors

Well this is an ultrawide that has 100hz along with g-sync but people believe waiting is the better option because these type of monitors are going to be 200hz soon. Dell AW3418DW LED-Lit Monitor 34.1" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0777RY75V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_QkaQAbWKXRH3T

u/Sylanthra · 1 pointr/Monitors

I like ultrawide monitors for gaming. It is a much more immersive experience for both 3rd person and first person games. For work ultrawide is also great because you can have multiple windows side by side. If money is no object, you can't go wrong with AW3418DW. That's the current king of the hill although Acer predator x35 is supposed to come out later this year.

As far as high refresh rate and g-sync, they are great features. It won't make you a better gamer, but it will make games look smoother.

u/UltraStatic1 · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I've also got some vision impairment in one eye from a detached retina years ago. There is an amazon basics branded arm which I use and I believe would fit your needs. It will extend about 24 inches and you can move it just about anyway you can imagine. Also has a clamp that will work as long as your desk is at least half an inch thick.

You might need some help setting it up because the resistance screws can be a little hard to find.

u/M3cha · 1 pointr/Monitors

$500ish? You won't be able to get 120/144Hz at 1440p with an IPS display for cheap.

You can get this ASUS monitor for around $400. 27", IPS, 60Hz, 2560x1440. You can get Dell's 25" offering for a similar price. Dell's 27 inch offering is a little over $500, if I remember correctly.

ASUS offers this MG279Q for a little over $600 when all is said and done. This might be your best bet. Acer offers this one, with GSync instead of the previous monitor's FreeSync for $700.

Edit: All of these monitors are IPS. If you want to go TN, I bet the choices will bloom and the prices will lower.

u/OneTrickSenpai · 1 pointr/Monitors

I would recommend against using a TV for PC gaming, since the input lag is generally quite awful.

In my opinion, 1440p 144hz IPS and Gsync is the best right now for gaming and general purpose use, but if you want a larger screen you could get a 34" 4k monitor (although this will only be 60hz) or an ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor at 100hz like this one (note: these are expensive).

u/atsu333 · 3 pointsr/Monitors

Personally I just looked through options for a long time and found that the ASUS PB258Q was my best bet, though your requirements might vary. A couple reasons I chose it over Acer's offerings is the VESA mounting capability(though I see the K27 has that) and thin bezels. I personally plan on eventually having 3 mounted for an Eyefinity setup.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

u/ACM1911 · 3 pointsr/Monitors

EDIT: Looks like Scorpio needs HDMI 2.1 for Freesync. Nothing has HDMI 2.1 right now I believe. Maybe wait for HDMI 2.1 monitors? I would.

I would get something with FreeSync. I believe Scorpio will have FreeSync support if you ever get a PC with an AMD graphics card you can utilize this monitor on it too.

Ones you should look at low->high price:

These two are going to be the best under $500, both are 1440 27" 144hz. If you plan on using a PS4 a lot, I wouldnt advise getting 1440. 1080 at 240hz may be your best bet for PS4/PC use, either that or 4k 75hz+. I prefer a higher refresh rate over resolution but if you do choose 1080 240hz id say get a 24".

u/johnnywahl · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I think the best monitor for the specs that you want is the LG 34GK950F-B. It's an absolutely killer monitor. 144hz, black design, borderless, IPS, and 34". The only thing is that it is Freesync2 instead of GSync, but there is not a lot of reasons to get Gsync monitors given Nvidia supports Freesync now. Also, it's a little over your budget.

If you absolutely want to stay in your budget, then the Dell ALienware 1900R is within your budget but only at 120Hz. Also the, Acer Z35 but it's a VA panel and not as minimalistic.

Personally, I'd go with the LG if you can spare an extra $100

u/MythicalPigeon · 1 pointr/Monitors

Not much G-Sync IPS 144hz fit that budget, unless for sale (usually they are around $700) I'll list some good ones:

AOC AG271QG

Viewsonic XG2703-GS

Acer XB271HU

Acer XB270HU

If you are fine with no G-Sync, then the Nixeus EDG27 fits your budget (Not fully released, will be some time very soon though. Some places are already shipping them out)

u/gayben · 1 pointr/Monitors

The Nixeus EDG27S looks like it might be a good fit, it checks all the boxes except for GSync. There are two versions of it, one with an adjustable stand and one with a pretty crappy tempered glass stand. The crappy stand version is significantly cheaper at $420, and if the stand bothers you then a good VESA stand or arm wouldn't cost too much and is reusable for future upgrades.

You don't need to worry about 144hz, the consoles can't take advantage of that anyway. On the other hand, there are a decent amount of games for Xbox One X that can actually run at near 4k resolutions, so I'd recommend getting a a 60hz 4k panel with the best colors possible. I'm not as knowledgeable on specific models as others on this sub, but from some quick research this 4k IPS LG panel seems decent and squeaks into your budget.

I bought the Dell S2716DG about a month ago and had severe banding issues with that one. I received a replacement and have banding issues on that one too. I've been DMing @Dellcares on Twitter now for about 2 and a half weeks and I'm still waiting for a solution to this. I now have my eyes on this Acer Predator XB271HU. It just went on sale for about $500 when it was at the cheapest $600 for the longest time. Plus it can OC to 165hz.

Other than the banding issues the Dell is a great monitor.

Ok, so here are the only real choices that exist right now, as far as I can tell.

LG 27UK650-W (https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV)--This supports HDR, and Freesync over HDMI, but is an IPS-type panel, so by its nature its response time will be higher than 1ms. There's another caveat too: Because its not Freesync 2, you have to choose between HDR and Freesync at any given time, you can't have both at once.

BenQ EL2870U (https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-EL2870U-3840x2160-Brightness-Intelligence/dp/B078HWN5CX) This is about the only TN-Type HDR monitor I know of, so you get 1ms response time, but I can't find affirmative evidence that this will support Freesync over HDMI, and even if it did, it has the above monitor's problem of seeming being only Freesync 1, so you'd still have to choose between Freesync and HDR.

Samsung C27HG70 (https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LC27HG70QQNXZA-C27HG70-27-Inch-Monitor/dp/B06XSQ5QN8) There's also a 32" version of this---This looks like the only Freesync 2 monitor on the market right now, so you get HDR and Freesync at the same time. The catch is that its not 4K, only 2560x1440. The panel response isn't quite 1ms, being a VA-Type panel, but its pretty close, and you'll have to do a firmware update on the monitor before the Freesync will be actually useful (out of the box Freesync range is 72-144hz, so useless for an Xbox. The update drops the minimum to 48hz). It also has not so great reviews, mentioning things about flickering in the lower Freesync range, so, consider this one with caution.

And that's it. Sadly, there's a consistent reality that monitors and their production are at least a year behind available technology for whatever reason.

u/evirtue01 · 1 pointr/Monitors

G-Sync usually adds a few hundred dollars to the pricetag. The Alienware model is one of the best of the ultrawide G-Sync bunch, and it is currently on sale for as low as I've seen it on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Dell-D2719HGF-Response-Speakers-FreeSync/dp/B07J4SXNQ5

u/Gilianz · 1 pointr/Monitors

It really depends... Personally, I don't think it is worth that much money, so if you have the money and are willing to spend it then it's a good buy. It still makes a difference in gaming just not super noticeable. The BenQ vs the PG278Q is noticeably more different. The BenQ will just have the 144hz and some other features while the PG278Q will have fully adjustable stand 1440p and has g-sync.

The thing with both of these monitors is that they will still be a TN panel. So, the color will not be as vivid in some games and may be even dulled. Now, if you were to spend a little bit more and purchase the Acer XB270hu it would be a really good purchase as it is a 1440p IPS panel with g sync. They only difference is that it isn't as thin bezeled as the newer version XB271hu or the PG279Q from Asus.

Looking again it seems that not only is the XB270hu better than all previous monitors listed but it will also arrive before Christmas.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Sorry I didn't notice you wanted 1ms. AD27QD is probably the best you can get but it's slightly over your budget. If you don't care IPS you have alternatives at the cost of image quality and/or color accuracy but it shouldn't be a problem since you have mentioned 144Hz and I guess you would use this monitor purely for gaming.

S2719DGF if you have a NVIDIA card or AG271QX if you have an AMD card are my recommendations.

They both sell for $300ish.

Oh, this is the one I would've wanted when I was considering an Nvidia card. Only $509 right now, but for some reason, looks like they edited the page a bunch since I last looked at it. Should have all the same specs, they just don't seem to care to advertise it at the top anymore. It's all in the product description though.

I would recommend either the Dell Ultrasharp U2415 or the Asus PA248Q. They are both decent monitors suited for working with photos/graphics because they are both equipped with IPS panels, matte coating and high sRGB coverage.

The Asus monitor goes a bit over your budget, but it also offers a full 100% sRGB coverage as opposed to the Dell's 99%. It's up to you to decide whether that's worth the higher price, since the two monitors are very similar otherwise.

They work with the AmazonBasics version. Source: Me (I use the two products below together):
www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Premium-Single-Monitor-Stand/dp/B00MIBN16O
www.amazon.com/Ergotron-45-289-026-Extension-Polished-Aluminum/dp/B006PYHYXG
I painted the Ergotron arm black, and it looks really nice IMO.
Edit: OP, I think these two products would work for your situation.

u/sanjaylord · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Look into this one, it's touted as a console gaming monitor and has fairly good reviews.

I am in the same boat as you. I am strongly considering buying a GTX 1080 soon after release and want to upgrade my monitor to 1440p/144hz from 1080/60hz because.

After reviewing the current available options there are two monitors that stand out to me:

Dell S2716DG

Acer XB270HU

The only two differences I see between these panels:

  1. The dell is $150-$200 cheaper
  2. The asus is IPS while the dell is TN
u/GTR128 · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Does anyone know if the AmazonBasics one is good? I am in the market for a stand

u/oreesama · 2 pointsr/Monitors

This is another option

https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Computer-Ultrasharp-U2415-24-0-Inch/dp/B00NZTKOQI

you could always switch to a 16:9 ratio and get better specs on a monitor for that budget

u/twirstn · 1 pointr/Monitors

Okay so I know I said I wouldn't need a 144hz monitor but I'm kind of tempted to get the AOC C24G1 or this HP since it's VESA compatible.

I'm thinking I get the AOC and switch my main monitor to my second monitor and use the AOC 144hz as the main to watch movies and play games. It's curved so I'm not sure what to expect from that...

solid colors, good blacks and contrast, low ghosting, 1080p, below your price point, with freesync and it works with gsync.

There's also the AmazonBasics Premium Single Monitor Stand which can support up to 25 lbs, your monitor says '24.60 lbs. w/o stand'

ASUS VG245H0

AOC G2460PF

since you're going to use a RX 480.. might as well get a monitor that have freesync?

Looks good to me man. Personally I'd pay a little more for this one for the adjustable stand.

u/sicfreak91 · 1 pointr/Monitors

What do you mean? 4k 60hz IPS? So like this LG monitor isn't what OP is asking for? That's $399? With HDR10

Its not 1000 nit brightness, but OP didn't ask for that, he just wants something compatible with his PS4

u/such-username-wow · 1 pointr/Monitors

If you want something that allows you to pull the screen forward maybe this is waht you're looking for. It gives you full range of motion basically; height/swivel/tilt/depth/etc. There's also gas spring arms that are wall mountable as well.

Honestly, with only $300, your looking at this : https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01G5JYN0C/ref=psdc_1292115011_t2_B01LHYIATA?th=1
theres not much in the market for what your asking for in price but that. Of course, excluding sales/deals.

u/BakedBreadReddit · 1 pointr/Monitors

Ok here's the link you are going to haft to switch between the 2: 240hz display

u/stealer0517 · 1 pointr/Monitors

under 300 is going to be very rare for what you want

I have this and its amazing. They usually go for about 300. Only downside for you is that it's 25" but imo that's a plus

u/Glockspeiser · 1 pointr/Monitors

One piece of advice, before buying a monitor, please check it out on fakespot.com
My older brother showed me this. I’m not sure why, but monitors attract a lot of fake reviews for some reason.
For what it’s worth, I’m also thinking of getting 2 monitors, similar wishlist, this is what I think I’m going to end up with: AOC Agon AG271QX 27" Gaming Monitor, QHD 2560x1440, FreeSync, 144Hz, 1ms, DisplayPort/HDMI/DVI-D/VGA, QuickSwitch keypad, VESA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G5JYN0C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_CbrwCb9ETAG83

u/kasmog · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Okay. I have 2 option for you.

This a little expensive Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2415 24.0-Inch Screen LED Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NZTKOQI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_3MYdAbJSRSW73

or this cheaper Dell S2415H 24-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M9B3XZW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_EOYdAbN8QD1XH.

Both are 24" with IPS, and both are VESA compatible.

u/Abulap · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor: AW2518H - Would be the top end if you were to want to have gsync, downside its the most expensive.

Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor: AW2518HF - Would be my recommendation if you were to sacrifice gsync in favor of price.

BenQ Zowie XL2540 - Is common monitor among the pro scene, i personally prefer the design of the AW but that more a personal preference.

u/coffeesippingbastard · 1 pointr/Monitors

damn near anything would work.

I bought the 27UK600 when it was going for $330 at bestbuy and then mounted them on some cheap arms.

https://www.amazon.com/North-Bayou-Monitor-Computer-14-3lbs/dp/B01AI2YGK4/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=north+bayou&qid=1556308904&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Everything i've read so far has the U2718Q and the LG 27UK650 series as identical from a panel perspective. The main differences are going to be price, inputs, and interface.

I think the LG has a stronger OSD design with it's little joystick. I've read that the Dells have problems if you have to switch inputs a lot but I haven't seen that substantiated. If you aren't switching between sources a lot then nbd.

Finally, the Dells have USB3.0 hubs built in. It's roughly a $30-$50 premium over the LGs which don't have it so whether or not that's worth it is up to you.

u/Keelay_Jelly · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Your current rig will handle 1440p ultra fairly easily. My friend has a 980ti and runs 1440p games on ultra just fine. As far as IPS response times, I would look at independent reviews as well as the products on pcpartpicker, as sometimes the manufacturer's data can be a little "optimistic". IPS panels usually run a response time higher than TN but I doubt you will ever notice on a good IPS unless you play a lot of twitch shooters with no lag. I played on my friends Acer XB270HU, not knowing that there was a higher response time, and i didn't notice at all.

With your budget i would forgo IPS unless you can find something on sale. Also you won't find a 1080p 144hz monitor with IPS (trust me I looked) which would leave you with 1440p IPS which are all either out of your price range, or suck.

As a side note, hot damn the Australian dollar blows.

u/xsirxx · 1 pointr/Monitors

If you are going to spend that kind of money on a fast monitor, have you heard of the BenQ ZOWIE? 240hz 24.5"

https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-eQualizer-Adjustable-Vibrance-XL2540/dp/B01MCYUV19/

u/Austyx · 1 pointr/Monitors

3440x1440 120hz Ultrawide Master Race checking in.

If you're mostly a singleplayer game guy like myself, with some occasional PUBG and such with the lads, I cannot recommend a 1440p ultrawide enough if you've got a rig that can handle the step up in resolution. I can get lost in games like Subnautica for hours.

u/Vontellor · 1 pointr/Monitors

I'm not sure which is the refreshed design, but this is the exact model I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071G6PGP7

I'm also using dual monitor VESA stands, so if the tempered glass base won't cut it for you, then take that into consideration.

u/Jungianshadow · 1 pointr/Monitors

https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Alienware-Monitor-Resolution-Overclocked/dp/B0777RY75V This is popular, but 350 off 500 dollars (oh its euros, your probably good). The response rate is 4ms, so take that into consideration. VESA mount might not come easily for something this premium?

u/joshwashere · 5 pointsr/Monitors

The left monitor in the picture is not ultrawide... It's a standard 16:9 24" in portrait.

This is the mount i use.

There are korean monitors that overclock to ~100hz for around $250.

They really only differ in response time (it will be for gaming) with the 27 inch having a 5ms and the 32 inch having a 4ms, here's the links:

27 inch (I would get it off Newegg since it's $500 there)-

There's two versions.

TN

IPS

I'd look at GTG Response times to determine if it's TN or IPS. TN is usually 1ms while IPS usually is 4ms or more..
