Eh. I mean, I got a Dell craptop on sale for about $100, replaced Win10 with Linux, and it's been running at like 7hr/charge. Granted the screen isn't quite 1080p, it's 1366 x 768, but it works for me. I personally don't really like the keyboard layout on chromebooks (usually lacks a super key on the left side), and it's kind of a deal breaker for me since my setup relies on all 3 keys (control, super, alt) being present depending on what I'm using. Whatever floats your boat though.

I love it. Thanks for the recommendation. FYI I have no interest in that product, it was just the first thing I clicked on form the home page.

Okay so, I don't know if that count but my mac on os x High Sierra (did a clean install on upgrade) overheat a lot when using firefox 57 stable. Activity monitor shows this : https://api-d.com/snaps/2017-11-28_23-27-54-6talbvh3bf.png

It happen only on certain pages (Youtube, Amazon foreground. For example, this one : https://www.amazon.fr/Wedo-Elegance-0585001-Conf%C3%A9rencier-amovibles/dp/B004PGI1AG/)

I, too, am using a scaled resolution, and here is a profile I did on the previous page : https://api-d.com/snaps/profile.json

http://www.amazon.com/books/dp/0789734583 might help you, the author's a great guy who's on Reddit too. Send me a message, I'll tell you more that might help you.

I've been using almost this exact card in Arch for quite some time:

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Double-Graphics-012-P3-1577-KR/dp/B0057608W2/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1410109721&sr=8-9&keywords=gtx+570

I use the proprietary NVidia drivers because Steam, but Nouveau works fine with it. But it works great for me, never had any issues with X crashes.

> OP never said anything about performance problems.

Yes, he did. What's your interpretation of "I have to clear cache every time the Firefox starts getting slower"?

The articles you linked basically say this:
> Typical consumers shouldn't worry about exceeding the endurance of modern SSDs.

But not everyone is a typical consumer, and not everyone has a modern SSD, also actually not all modern SSDs are decent.

You can also shorten most Amazon product URLs even further: "https://amzn.com/B07MMZ2LTB" — you just can't do that with Smile.

> I wonder why the normal firefox has this issue, because of kabylake as a new processor or something?

Unsure, I don't have a Kaby Lake processor to check to see if there's any difference.

> Regarding M2 SSD you won't notice a difference between it and normal SATA SSD in real work load,

I'm leaning towards M2 as I don't want to replace my 3TB HDD so I can just clone Windows to the M2 and format and use the HDD as storage. I'm just looking for Windows to run at peak speed with an SSD. My Asus only has one HDD/SSD slot and an M2 SSD slot. Thanks for tips on manufacturer's. I was going to get a Crucial M2 as I've yet to encounters any issues with them.
