Android takes a little getting used to but you'll see that you can do sooo much more out of the box.
Get familiar with the 2nd screen as it's a big help. It takes a bit of time to get used to it... I sometime forget it's there and still unlock to skip songs and whatnot. You can set different apps for shortcut, a set of setting, music controls, etc. If you're sticking with LG's home screen then go settings>home screen>select home screen and choose Home & app drawer to have the way Android was meant to be used XD. The factory style gives more of an iOS feel with all apps on the home screen which to me is a lot of clutter. I have Nova paid (aka prime) and haven't switched to it yet...
Headphones... get a good pair to take advantage of the HiFi DAC. Good pair doesn't mean high impedance or pricey. I use Meze 12 Classics and they sound so freaking good with this phone! They're also sexy af imo lol They'll set you back $59 which to me is a good price point for everyday use IMEs. Another that is being recommended a lot are the 1More Triple Driver IMEs. These set you back $89. The HiFi DAC only works with wired headphones...in case you didn't know.
Another thing to consider is either getting LG's battery pack and cradle combo or a battery pack. I have Anker's 10000mah QC 3 battery pack and it gives me around 3 charges on my V20. Prefer this to be taking off the case, cover, swapping batteries and putting everything back together -___-
That brings us to cases... get one ASAP if you haven't already. There's a lot of choices out there. I have the Spigen Tough Armor with kickstand and it's been great. Sleek and the kickstand is pretty functional with my only gripe with it being plastic....Spigen, Rinke and Urban Armour are three of the most recommended cases. Check reviews and pick the one that best suites your needs. Haven't gotten a screen protector as of yet... there hasn't been one that covers the whole screen or wraps around the edges with the V20 having a slight curved screen.

Another thing I always do is settings>fingerprint and security>unknown sources to On. This will let you install apps out of the play store.

Also, Reddit is a great community to get good and quick answers.

FYI - Links provided above for the things I recommended on Amazon.

I too have the Spigen Rugged Armor case, combined with the separate Encased Belt Clip holster:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N02W6T7

It's a magical combination! The case is very protective, but perfectly thin. It's my favorite case of any phone that I've owned.

The Encased bolt clip holster is awesome too. I've been using belt clip holsters since my Moto Razor phones, and they all stunk until this one. The rotating assembly would always break, or the retention clip didn't work right. Encased doesn't have these problems.

I finally broke a part on my holster last month, when I rammed into a hard wall that caught the top of the clip that holds the phone in the holster. Luckily, they have a lifetime warranty and they sent me a new holster for free!

There are a couple reviews for it on Amazon but they're favorable.

To be honest, I have no interest in the projector itself. My G4 is starting to have some major issues and I went looking for a phone. Liked the V20, saw it was down to $360, and bought it. Noticed the projector promo and plan to resell it, thus making what I assumed was going to cost me a pretty penny into the V20 for probably under $100 after all is said and done.

I got these
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GQ0K958/ref=psdc_464394_t1_B01B634WNK, a little cheaper (3 less cables) but work very well, fast charging is great and the cable length and braiding is amazing.

FYI /u/oeihbg this is the screen protector I like the best out of the ones I've tried so far: PureGear Screen Protector for LG V20

It's a film screen protector, not tempered glass, so be aware of that beforehand.

Overall quality of the protector is 4 out of 5 since it's film and not glass. But where it excels is the installation - easiest and cleanest install I've ever done on a film screen protector.

Its because the iSine 20s were never made for an Android phone. Even Tyll (Inner Fidelity) in his review said that he can recommend the iSine only with a Cipher cable as without it, the dip in the Mids ruins the overall frequency response. The issue is so well known that an Audeze engineer has provided detailed equalizer settings to bring non-Cipher iSine20s up to par with the Cipher ones on the Head-Fi forums. To add to it, these are planars with low impedance. So, the V20 only runs them in Normal Audio Device mode which is basically a low gain mode. But being planars, they benefit immensely with the extra juice which the Normal Audio Device mode can't provide.

Get yourself a 3.5 mm Male to Female Adapter, then plug the adapter in first and then insert the iSines into the adapter. What you will get with this is the V20 in External Audio Device mode which is basically medium gain mode. This will provide sufficient power to your iSines. This workaround is what i use to power my OPPO PM-3 as they are also low impedance planars which benefit from the extra power. To add to this, i have used my HD600 from my V20 and A/B tested it against my E17K(DAC)/O2(Amp) combo and the difference was minimal. And let me tell you this, the O2 is a much better Amp compared to the Fiio E11. Most measurements have shown that the V20's DAC/Amp system falls just slightly short of the Chord Mojo and is much better than the ones from Dragonfly, Fiio, etc.

Same thing happened to me about a month ago. I've had the phone since launch, and have always had it in a Spigen case. Luckily the glass is super easy to replace and should not cost more than $12. Here's a link to Amazon for the part I got.

Checking prices on ebay for the H990DS , its around $450 CAD (no tax)
Might as well get it from amazon ( no warranty )

Also just noticed the missing music app, btw does yours also have the FM radio app/function?

What are your idle temps or reddit temps?

Really appreciate the help

Think it's worth it?

Hopefully returning it doesn't cost $50

Personally, if you're wanting to get some solid cans, you can't go wrong with the HD 598s from Sennheiser or the DT 990 Pro from Beyerdynamic. Both sound fantastic on the V20, and have solid build quality.

r/headphones is a step in the right direction if you'd like to know more!

I would recommend anker's USB 3.0 to USB C cable if you aren't able to find OEM ones ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0119EIHTG/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_b4vgyb4TCFMFS ) it has been tested by Benson to not fry your device and is a good quality cable. Combined with Anker's quick charge brick ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018RR30TK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_O6vgybB41QVB7 ) I have had no problems, and the relatively inexpensive price of the cables is awesome considering how good they are.

u/drwuzer · 1 pointr/lgv20

I use the Spigeon Liquid Crystal, it has a huge headphone port -
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LQV7VCQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's pretty minimal protection though, it does have a bump out to protect the camera which is really the only reason I got it.

u/Quetzalcoatlus1 · 1 pointr/lgv20

Agreed. I would suggest the Spigen Tough Armor case as an alternative. I use the Spigen and it's appearance conveys quality and durability. It feels good in the hand. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0HW9P4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_WJ7wzbR4PQTHS

This can be supplemented with a belt clip from Encased that is specifically made for this Spigen. Belt Clip for Spigen Rugged Armor - LG V20 (case not included) (By Encased) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N02W6T7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_oKevcWlm1FS5b

u/MrLethalWeapon · 1 pointr/lgv20

I've purchased extended batteries from Powerbear and iPossible and they've both worked well.
The extended size on these isn't obnoxious, and the longer run-time is a huge help.

I use YouTube all the time so when it eventually does run out I can put one on the charger while the other is powering the phone.

u/TaurusMooCow · 1 pointr/lgv20

Because, like an idiot I deleted my comment..

Just to piggyback on your response, I picked up this case just for grippy-ness:

[Spigen Crystal] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LQV7VCQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1480845994&sr=8-3&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=lg+v20+case+spigen&dpPl=1&dpID=41Ucqu4Sw%2BL&ref=plSrch)

It's like there phone is practically still naked, which I dig, and protects it well.

u/alligatorbilly · 3 pointsr/lgv20

After you find some earbuds, look at getting some cans. These are amazing on my V20. DT990 by Beyerdynamic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0011UB9CQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_yuFWBb8Y22TER

u/tb21666 · 5 pointsr/lgv20

Or you could keep the best phone there is (everything else out now is neutered & riddled with planned obsolescence) & simply buy/use this..?

Also, IME at my old store, we would either refuse the trade in or give you less, per what the POS reported back once inputted into the system for that particular carrier.

I just bought these aukey cables and am impressed by the quality so far.

Has saved me so many times, can't really think about going without it now. Keep it in my bag or jacket pocket.

u/naturecannon · 1 pointr/lgv20

These cables are fantastic. They are on the stiffer and thicker side but you could slam it in a car door and I doubt it would break. Excellent quality!!

Those low profile USB drives can be very useful, indeed. E.g. I bought one for my wife's car radio. Hardly sticks out of the front.

u/dupo24 · 1 pointr/lgv20

I bought this one. Haven't installed it yet, so I cant provide much detail on it yet.

I use this anker qc 3.0 charger. Since i have around 20 microusb cables, I got Anker Usb-C to MicroUsb adapter and I haven't noticed any issues, charges fast and works well.

u/Horseflesh · 1 pointr/lgv20

After doing some searching I've ordered one of these:

I'll report back if it works.

Anyone know if the "International Unlocked" model on Amazon the: H990DS

https://www.amazon.com/LG-H990DS-5-7-Inch-FACTORY-UNLOCKED/dp/B01M4MY4RY

will work 100% on T-Mobile USA?

This site:

https://www.techwalls.com/lg-v20-model-numbers-differences/

seems to indicate that the H990DS is missing HSPA and LTE Cat12 Band 66.

This site:

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Cheat-sheet-which-4G-LTE-bands-do-AT-T-Verizon-T-Mobile-and-Sprint-use-in-the-USA_id77933

Doesn't indicate that Band 66 is used.

So missing HSPA and Band 66, how hosed would I be? Should I just buy a T-Mobile specific one for more?
