Sounds like you are a big fan of the Razer Blade you have. Glad to hear. Should I get it haha. Pull the trigger on it haha? My one question for you is 2 folds. Firstly if I get the 256gb ssd model which is cheaper obisouly I can then in the future upgrade that. But I hear it'll void warranty? You mention an external drive. I've been looking at this one: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-T3-Portable-SSD-MU-PT250B/dp/B01AVF6UQQ?th=1&psc=1
Is it possible for me save games and software on that? Just have to make sure I have it plugged in for it to run.
this is what the page looks like: http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Blade-Gaming-Laptop-Generation/dp/B01DHS3120/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1462817439&sr=1-4&keywords=razer+blade
says "ships in 1-3 months" so thats not promising. but maybe you're right, although it does look like to me they may actually get their own because it says "ship and sold by amazon.com"
if somehow stock shows up in the next week or two i would be super happy but its doubtful haha
Late 2016 Razer Blade non-4k here.
As far as durability, I'd say it's easily up there with Macs. It's built very solidly and has held up being thrown around my backpack easily. I haven't abused it too much though because it's still my baby. No hardware issues.
I love the design of it. Very sleek and definitely an eye-catcher. The keyboard is one of the best laptop keyboards available and the size means it's not too hard to pull out bus or car ride. You don't want to play intensive games while it's on your lap because your legs will block the downward fans, but that's the same with any laptop. Pick up one of these and you'll be fine.
Definitely worth the price for me as a student who needs to bring my laptop with me to and from school but wants to still be able to play games on the go.
Well if you want some cheap options razer is honestly overpriced. You could get a Redragon K552 KUMARA LED Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016MAK38U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ECH.AbNW64SPV. It’s super cheap and looks good. Throw some new keycaps on and it’s glorious
A heavy duty cooling pad brought my framerates up WAY more than I thought it would, I can't recommend one enough. I use this one, its a bit pricey but absolutely worth every penny. I get about a 5-10 degree difference on the CPU and GPU. That particular cooler is great because you can plug it into the wall with a standard micro USB charger, which not only powers the fan but also the 4-port USB hub to prevent overworking the Blade's port.
Razer core is technicality the best. :)

Should work well to
I'm thinking about it to be honest. It's just, there aren't any other laptops that look this nice, metal body, small form and light weight, etc. And all gaming laptops seem to have their fair share of issues.
I went ahead and ordered this charger because of the good reviews, and it lists the same specs as the charger you're using (19.5v/9.23a) I'm getting it delivered on Monday so we'll hope it works.
I'll call Razer tomorrow and see about getting a new charger sent to me from them as well. I'll be glad to have a couple to use anyway, since apparently their chargers just die all the time. I'm so surprised it happened 3 days in, though.
Worst case scenario, I'll return, but I'm really enjoying the laptop apart from this snag, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
For desktops I've always used MSI afterburner. Very simple to use but never tried with a laptop.
If you don't already have one, consider getting a laptop cooling pad. You don't have to get one that's all "gamer" looking like the one in the link, but this one gave me significant performance gains on my old laptop. (Sorry my Reddit link game is weak)

something like this?
what thickness is best?
I found this one for $84 i also listed some other brands keyboards and they are all $80 or below just in case you need other options and they are all mechanical keyboards. Your brother will be satisified with any that i link. Have a good day :) LMK if you have any questions

I have xbox controller for PC and it comes with USB stick that helps you connect the controller. The pairing works perfectly and so far i haven't found a single game from steam that don't works.
I have this one here:
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-one/dp/B00ZB7W4QU
Yeah so I found out that Microsoft sells this additional adapter for $24, here is a link. It allows high throughput essentially and firmware updates, but I'm just going to stick with it plugged in. I also found a 10 ft micro USB cable on Amazon for like $6-8, so that'll be plenty.
There are usb to m.2 enclosures like this:
http://www.amazon.com/ZTC-Enclosure-Adapter-SuperSpeed-ZTC-EN004-BK/dp/B00KQ4LNJC
I've not used them myself so not sure how the controller works but if you're lucky you can clone from/to the ssd when using it with one of these!

usb-c is great. I can hotswap my xps and rbs with one cable
I'm using this and it works really well: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Display-Docking-Station-D3100/dp/B00O0M46KO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1482862747&sr=8-3&keywords=usb%2B3.0%2Bdock&th=1 the used deals go for about $60-70, but any 3.0 Displaylink capable dock should do the trick!
"Razer Naga Chroma" and "Razer Naga Epic Chroma" are two different devices. They dug themselves into a hole naming the "Naga Epic Chroma" before the "Naga Chroma" existed.
The "Naga Epic Chroma" was released shortly after the "Naga", it had wireless and chroma support.
The "Naga Chroma" was a remake of the original "Naga" with Chroma compatibility, but without the "epic" wireless feature.
Since the "Naga Chroma" was released later than the "Naga Epic Chroma", the "Naga Chroma" got Synapse-3 support but the "Naga Epic Chroma" hasn't yet, and might never.
There is also the "Naga Trinity" which is an upgrade of the "Naga Chroma" with 3 different side panels for different button layouts.
TL;DR: If you want the wireless, you're kinda shit outta luck and need to use Synapse 2. If you don't care about wireless and want to use Synapse 3, return it and get the "Naga Chroma" or "Naga Trinity" instead.
Edit: Also some say Synapse 2 is better than 3, but I've personally had more problems with 2 than 3, so I'd rather use one with 3 compatibility.
Yay adapters
Never worry about your tip again, get this, https://www.amazon.com/iVoler-Charger-Delivery-Macbook-Chromebook/dp/B01ET7SDXK and buy a USB-C to USB-C cable that is capable of power delivery.
They make a left handed naga: http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Naga-Handed-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00EO2ECUY
I recently picked up a Taipan to replace my Copperhead. If the Lachesis was on the market I would have gotten it as it's basically the same shape as the Copperhead with similar button placement. The biggest dislike coming from the Copperhead to the Taipan is the side buttons are too easily pressed because of the way I hold the mouse. I tend to hit the far side buttons with my ring finger during heated sessions. This wasn't a problem with the Copperhead since the side buttons were tucked under a bit.
As for durability, I haven't had it too long to go too far into that. It feels nice. I'm not that worried though. Every problem that ever came to my Copperhead was easily fixed and I don't see much of an issue here either.
Thanks for the responses, I decided to go for a USB 3.0 dock: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O0M46KO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Please remove all the tracking extras and only post the following shorter link:

I am using it through the TB3 port. And I'm using this adapter.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K51GM46/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There are a few actual cables that do the connection without an adapter, but when I was looking for this one, they were all sold out. The CableMatters one works just fine and I haven't had any issues with it. 144hz was a game changer for me in FPS games.
The chroma is the one I was referencing. I didn't bother specifying chroma vs non-chroma since the chroma is the only current model.
For the record:
The directional pad on Tartarus is more of an 8 directions pad instead of an analog stick, which means even if you manage to map mouse controls to it the result will be rather clunky.
On top of my head I can think of following possible alternatives:
You can also consider using your feet for extra controls if necessary.
Or you can consider becoming Jaedong.
https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Orbweaver-Chroma-Mechanical-Adjustable/dp/B013P0HW7K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525130970&sr=8-1&keywords=razer+orbweaver+chroma
I'd but through amazon.. if it fails they have better customer service than razer.
you might need to pull an apple and get an adapter for USB C

Here's a post w/ step by step instructions and photos on how to disassemble: https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/96uw3k/razer_blade_15_2018_disassembly_ram_ssd_upgrade/

Here is a youtube video showing the same: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfJf0mT_l48

Both of these go much further with disassembly than just the SSD.

I used these Silverstone thermal pads: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06W2FZ592/

As for which SSD, I used a Samsung 970 Evo. Any NVMe SSD should do it for you though. You can go cheaper for a 960 Evo at the expense of some performance or for another brand.

Note that when reassembling, the cover has a little metal flap that needs to be slid under the lip of the machine, otherwise you're going to have a weird bump and bend your cover panel.
Basically, the gist is that if theres a thermal pad in there when you open it, there needs to be one there when you close it. The Die on the GPU and CPU are quite a bit smaller than on a desktop. Basically, use a half pea sized blob of paste on the CPU and a little bit more on the GPU. They only touch the heatsink in that one area. The thermal pads are for the VRMs and the GPU memory, so remember to replace any pads that you find when you open it up.
These are my go to thermal pads:
https://www.amazon.com/Arctic-Thermal-Efficient-Conductivity-Handling/dp/B00UYTTMNI
also these are made to be cut, so make them the right size when you apply them. Sometimes I make them slightly larger, but thats just me.
