Buy this and double the amount of cheese powder you put in to bring it back to its former glory.

I really enjoy my take on Hamburger Helper:

1 lb ground beef

1 package of Shirataki noodles

1 small onion

2tbsp powdered cheddar (any cheese will do here)

4 oz of heavy cream.

In a 12" cast iron skillet, brown the meat on high. Reduce to medium heat, add onions until they are translucent. Turn to low heat, add cream, cheese, and drained noodles. Simmer and stir often for 5-10 minutes.

PS Everyone needs a good cast iron skillet. Get one ASAP and never wash it with soap :)

I love cheese. Actually just food in general. I'd love some yummy powered cheese so I can make some cheesy popcorn. :)

Ramen n cheese.

Cook ramen in water. Throw out the packet. Drain the ramen. Add butter, milk, and cheese powder (you can buy it by the jar, or in bulk FYI).

Eat.

  1. Buy this stuff.
  2. Buy a bag of macaroni noodles, butter, milk.
  3. Make according to directions on Kraft box.

The powder is actually flour and cheese and milk dehydrated.

>On an industrial level, cheese powder is made by spray drying. That means it is melted down into a liquid, combined with additives, and then sprayed through a nozzle to convert it into droplets. The droplets are then blasted with hot air and vaporized, resulting in a powder.

This is a problem I've solved.

I don't use the cheese sauce mix like UESC_Durandal posted, I use straight cheese powder and I've gone through about 5 lbs of it already. I just use water, a thickener like cornstarch or flour, the powder, some salt and butter. To get good flavor, you want to use a good portion of cheese. To get a sauce consistency you need enough flour and water. You can punch it up with sour cream.

Working with the powder takes getting used to. You need a whisk or something similar to break up all the clumps, and as the stuff ages the clumps become harder to break.

I make what we call cheesy noodles (velveeta, butter, cheese powder, milk) with it. It's what comes in the Kraft box. Only complaint is that it clumps and I have to use a mortar and pestle to break it up. Plus side is there does not seem to be a anti-caking agents added.

Just ordered two more pounds of the stuff, since I went through the first pound already.

And then there's this. Spray-dried cheddar, and they have lots of varieties and other flavors.

If you have hair longer than chin length, then these are the pinnacle of man's ingenuity. They also come in short sizes.

Other than that, I've always wanted to buy some of this. Unfortunately it's over $10 with shipping.
