Here's the new version of the card, almost 5 star reviews, people say it runs cool.

From what I know, I think it's the SC or the 1060 (or specifically, the 1060 SC) single fan that runs hot. I can't imagine the 1050ti generates much heat tbh, but I may be wrong.

u/Meatballwarrior · 10 pointsr/buildapc

I would pick up a 1050ti and see where that gets you. They are around $160 and will be 2.5x more powerful then your current card.

This is a good card for cheap, not gonna be able to play bf1 or anything crazy, but perfectly sufficient for things like overwatch, minecraft, maybe even some titanfall 2.

So nvidia ;)

The build zealots are absolutely wrong when it comes to budget setups.

Just buy this ($400) and insert this ($140). You're done.

Building starts making sense at $800 or so, and becomes hugely superior above that.

u/CProgrammer · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I you can swing the extra $15, definitely look into getting the 4GB version of the EVGA (instead of only 2GB): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MEFABEL

The non SC version of 1050 ti is going for [$130] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MEFABEL/ref=twister_B01N2QQH3J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) on Amazon. Would you go any lower than $125?

u/LoneKrafayis · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme

A lot of GTX 1070s are compatible with your build. You need one that is under 10" long, is not tall, and has a 2-slot cooler. You can not have 2.5 or 3-slot-wide coolers.

I would choose this GTX 1070 that is also short, to keep all your options open. They were selling for under $380 a few days ago.

Edit:
I think you might want to buy an EVGA GTX 1050 Ti video card. They have a step-up-program where you can return their products directly to them for credit on more powerful cards from them, for 90 days after purchase.

The price of these cards is also up, but only $35 in the last few weeks.

u/Tevans75 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I probably should have said normal sale price, not necessarily normal price. Cheapest I could find right now is $169.99 from amazon. EVGA has sales every wednesday though and they often have a few cards around $150. /r/buildapcsales is a great place to find good sales too.

  • The Motherboard, RAM, Cooler, PSU and case all came from a workstation I found on eBay. The case is ugly as sin, but I'll live with it for now.
  • The workstation also came with Dual E5620 Quad Core CPUs which I'll probably be selling if anyone wants them.
  • I'm not going to use a sound card yet since I'll be using HDMI for now.

I just checked and this is what I'm currently running: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MEFABEL

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gaming

And in fact I bought it to replace the AMD GPU that was in it (I bought this PC from a friend) because it was wreaking havoc on the system when I was trying to use the open source drivers for it.

u/Farren246 · 1 pointr/Amd

I'd like to say it's the RX 560, but the card just doesn't perform as well as it should, instead trading blows with the vanilla GTX 1050. Unfortunately neither can maintain a consistent 60 fps (no dips into the 40s) at 1080p. Instead, the cheapest card / best value for money that can consistently maintain 60fps in all of the games you play is the GTX 1050ti 4GB for ~$190 CAD. And for comparison, the next more expensive cards are GTX 1060 3GB / RX 470 4GB, both priced at $450 used due to mining driving the price up.

Note that there will be some who advise you to get the cheaper GTX 1050ti 2GB, but don't listen to them - although the 2GB maintains the same frame rates, it is prone to problems with frame time jumps / stutters. You need the 4GB if you want consistent low latency frame time / quick input responsiveness.

u/WhatGPADoINeed · 1 pointr/buildapc

So I'll just buy a graphics card now but are all 1050 ti's virtually equal? I see Gigabyte D5, OC and Gaming but each brand has their own types. I also see single and dual fan but online most of them say 1050 ti doesn't draw enough power for it to make a difference, correct?

Few choices of GPUs I have:

u/jxck14_ · 1 pointr/buildapc
u/mordath · 1 pointr/buildapc

You can get the non overclocked version instead:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MEFABEL/?tag=pcpapi-20

It's probably because it's the card everyone gets since RX 570/580, 1060 cards are overpriced atm so everyone gets 1050 ti which means 1050 ti is rising in price too.

u/Mirelurking123 · 1 pointr/buildapc

a gtx 1050 ti would be a nice upgrade heres one for $200 CAD https://www.amazon.ca/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-Support-04G-P4-6251-KR/dp/B01MEFABEL/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1502410478&sr=1-2&keywords=gtx+1050+tiworks with your low end power supply if you want a higher gpu your going to need a new PSU also so another like $80 CAD but 1050ti is a great card and it will work with your current PSU also for a monitor heres a really nice one for $249 https://www.amazon.com/Acer-GN246HL-Bbid-24-Inch-Display/dp/B00KO4518I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502410188&sr=8-1&keywords=acer+144hz+monitor i know its like 50 over budget but if you can barrow $50 more will be worth it for the monitor but thats enough rambling from me just my thoughts on upgrades anyways best of luck.

u/machinehead933 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Those are all expensive as far as 1050ti's go. Here's one for $145: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MEFABEL/?tag=pcpapi-20

u/Cryxus92 · 1 pointr/buildapc

If I were you, I'd get a gtx 1050ti. Nice thing about this card is they only use 75w of power, and can be ran on low end power supplies like the one in the prebuilt HP you own. Make sure you get one that doesn't need an external 6pin pcie power supply cable to run. That graphics card will be able to play most games at medium-high settings at 1080p/60fps. You already have a very good cpu and 16gb of ram, so this gpu will be an easy upgrade and be able to play any modern game you'd like for $140.

I'd recommend this card. It will plug right in to your motherboard, doesn't require any additional power cables, and is $135 on Amazon.com right now.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MEFABEL/?tag=pcpapi-20

u/jhalls13 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Single fan model unfortunately, but $135. You could find RX470 at that price, but probably not for a bit.

Is my Dell Optiplex 790 motherboard dooming me? For a while now I've been trying to find a new GPU to use but keep running into problems. Mostly the fact that this motherboard is rather small so I cant just put any GPU on there (I bought a 1050 ti recently that just barely didn't fit so I had to return it) and the other is that the it seems the slot that takes the GPU can only give out 35w of power (learned this after buying a Radeon 460 that constantly jumped between 0 FPS and over 100 every other second) and most GPUs worth a damn require 75w and any GPU that has a 6-pin connector is too big to fit! It's driving me mad!

I'm currently looking at the EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti but I'm not sure if it will work! Heeeeelp!

u/wapey · 1 pointr/buildapc

Also, is there a difference between the card that you posted and this one, my original? This one is a little bit cheaper and if it's the same card I'll buy it directly from Amazon for the lower price

Thinking about upgrading my Graphics Card to GTX 1050 Ti. Would it be worth the extra $30 for the EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti FTW?

Here's my current specs:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz

8 Gigs DDR4 RAM

450w Power Supply

DirectX 12

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti FTW

2TB HDD

SYSTEM_GRAPHICS_VRAM 2017.813 MB

SYSTEM_GRAPHICS_SHAREDVRAM 4074.324 MB

_

Would this make a noticable improvement in my FPS? I run about 45fps in most areas, but run on medium settings.

u/SlowTortise790 · 1 pointr/computers

Yeah, search on newegg or amazon. There most likely will be a product viewer type-thing, and if you check the top of the card there shouldn’t be any type of connections.

u/eternaforest · 1 pointr/Alienware

Personally, I prefer EVGA cards (PNY is a good brand too), but neither of those will work due to having the wrong fans on them. You want reference fans. Those open air fans will push the air into your case (reference will push it out) making your components hot.

IIRC the 1050/TI doesn't have a reference version, but this should work better in the x51's compact case: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MEFABEL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yYLxzb3D55HYN

Technically that's the wrong fan too, but according to users here it works fine. I'd still monitor temps while playing intense games.

I'd actually recommend a 1060 (I'm personally looking to upgrade in the next year or so) but they're still stupidly expensive thanks to mining. Ugh.

Edit: I see your links are at Best Buy, see if they'll price match Amazon if you buy in-store. I've only ever price matched video games so idk how PC parts will work. Worth a shot though.

u/SloppyCandy · 1 pointr/buildapc

A $200 used i5 system with a $200 GPU upgrade.

Neither one of those systems are something you should really consider. They are old FX Quadcores with pretty meh GPU's and no SSD.

u/Kyundere · 1 pointr/buildapc

i would say get a new motherboard, because yours does not have a heatsink on your VRM's. Unless your motherboard isn't causing any instablity in your system, then in that case, i would get a new heatsink for your cpu, and have it blow over the vrm's. something like this would suffice. Also if you can save a little bit more cash, i would get a 1050 TI because you get a pretty hefty boost in performace, for not much more.

u/tatonkatrucks · 1 pointr/buildapc

I currently have a Radeon HD 8570 on my desktop that I bought at Best Buy 4 years ago but games like Overwatch are quite laggy. My budget is $200 CAD and I was looking at this GTX 1050 Ti. Anything else around that price range that I should consider?

Also should I get just the GTX 1050 Ti or the GTX 1050 Ti SC?

(Apologies for the dumb questions, I'm not very good at this.)

u/Professor_Doodles · 1 pointr/buildapc

That's another concern I have about the card, that it won't fit. I did some looking around, and people with the same computer have recxomnded this card, but it does look like a tight fit.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MEFABEL/ref=pe_385040_30332220_TE_dp_1?th=1&psc=1

This is the card I'm ordering (single fan) and the pc is a smallish one, so I'm not even sure the PCI can provide the 70w for the card.

u/urikdaffy · 1 pointr/buildapc

I want to add a [1050 ti] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MEFABEL/ref=twister_B01N2QQH3J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) to my computer but I'm not sure if my PSU can handle it. These are my specs.

My PSU looks like it came from a shady chinese company. I really don't want to have to spend more money on a new PSU because it takes a long time to ship to where I live. I was thinking I can go to a computer store and they can check and install my gpu so nothing goes wrong but I'm not sure they do that kind of stuff.

u/luizftosi · 1 pointr/buildapc

one more question plz, there are 4 options here:
https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-04G-P4-6253-KR/dp/B01MEFABEL?SubscriptionId=AKIAJM4UVF4RQCUWVBQA&tag=videocardbenchmark-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B01MF7EQJZ&th=1

single and double fan... i'm not interested at all to do overclock... do they have any difference? which one should i choose?

u/NikoHambone · 1 pointr/techsupport

Only a couple variants of the 1050 Ti use pin connectors, most of them don't. This one doesn't it's powered through the PCIe slot

Also, you'll definitely need a new power supply. The specs say you only have a 180W PSU at the moment and that's nowhere near enough to power either of those cards you mentioned

u/JanuaryDynamite · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I was thinking about upgrading to this video card but I was wondering if there's a reason for me to shill out the extra money to get the Superclocked one or even the SSC. I don't know much about overclocking, or that I really want to do it.

I just want a card that can play Overwatch smoothly on high settings.

Would the $150 one be just fine for my needs?

u/Gelectrode_ · 1 pointr/Overwatch

Just get a mini like this one: https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-GAMING-Support-04G-P4-6253-KR/dp/B01MEFABEL/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1484591731&sr=1-1&keywords=1050ti&th=1

Also keep in mind that the TI versions are slightly faster but more expensive so there are a few options. Also watch out for some of the TI's need a extra power pin and others dont. Depends on the brand. The one i link does not.

EDIT: the amount of heat coming off these cards is very low and it is not gonna require a duel fan extra huge cooler. That is one of the bigger benefits of running a low power card.
