-1070/7700 is a great combo. I went for the 7600k and wish I spent the $100 or so more on the 7700. You'll be able to play 90% of everything at max settings and push 100+ FPS. The z270 series mobo's are sweet. You may need to do xmp to get the RAM to work @2400.

-I don't know if it's available by you but this motherboard comes with a free wifi/bluetooth card.

-I was looking at the Noctua fan, decided against it as it looked like a pain in the ass to install. Cryorig H7 is straight forward and relatively quiet (once I adjusted fan curves)

-Consider upgrading the PSU to a gold version. EVGA makes some very nice units like this which is modular, so cables are easier to work with.

Other than that, everything is solid; I'd maybe upgrade the SSD to an M.2 NVME for faster boot speeds, etc, but that's just me.

You have an unlocked processor (meant for overclocking) and an H170 motherboard (cannot overclock). If you want to overclock, you need a Z170 board. If you don't want to, then you should get the i5-6600 (or 6500) - no "k" on the end.

For a couple bucks more, the EVGA G2 is a better power supply

You are handcuffing your framerates a little bit with that monitor since it is only 60hz, and it's a little expensive as far as 60hz IPS panels are concerned. You can get cheaper 60hz IPS panels, or you can spend more cash on a high refresh rate monitor instead

I assume you are buying all your parts on Amazon for some reason, however, I would highly recommend looking at jet.com for the video card. They are running a promotion right now, for 15% (up to $30) off your first 3 orders, with code "triple15" - you can save a good deal on a 1060 there instead of paying close to $300 on Amazon.

I would really advise against getting that overpriced motherboard. Save yourself $150, get the Z170-A or similarly priced mobo, and put that towards a GTX 1070, which is much more suitable for 1440p than the 480. I'd also get this PSU:

Whats the difference between the EVGA GS, G1, G2?

I think my EVGA GS 550w PSU keeps killing my motherboards/HDDs/SSDs. I posted this last night didn't get much response.

Since the RMA turn around for EVGA's PSU's is 6-12 days I need to just buy a new one off Amazon Prime so I'll have it Thursday. Should I get the G1, G2, or a 550W g2.

Is there any chance EVGA will cover the damaged parts? I'm out over $300 after all this which I really hadn't budgeted for when I planed my rig.

Just a tad over budget but you can easily bring it down to $1400 if you feel like it by going with an i5 for $200. And I have the optical drive needed to install windows, etc. With this GPU you should be more than good for now and the near future. glhf!

It's a good bit more expensive but the EVGA G2 is a very good PSU and easily recommendable (it's the one I use personally). The power supply is something you never want to skimp on so spending a little more on it is justifiable. You should still be <$2000 with the G2 and a non founders card

GPU Drivers: I installed the latest drivers as of today, more below

Description of Problem: White rectangles then Internal_Power_Error BSoD crash. After troubleshooting I reinstalled drivers and another white rectangles crash to black screen this time.

Troubleshooting:

Checked all seating in my computer

Checked to make sure nothing is damaged

Uninstalled all drivers with DDU and reinstalled

Made sure Bios was up to date

Tried all google results fixes I could personally do. Kinda vague, but most were things like disable chrome hardware acceleration and turn off sleep mode.

Any help is appreciated.

All good man, and its funny because I was just checking out the EVGA G2 here and after seeing your comment I just went for it. I am really hoping that the culprit is the PSU. I read about a year ago how unreliable my line of corsair PSUs that im using are and I figured I got the good one of the bunch but guess not. My thoughts, first off, what are you planning to do with this? I'll tell you off the bat that the PSU is waaaaay overkill for what you're doing. You could probably go for a PSU at the 650W level and meet all of your requirements. If you're overclocking everything, maybe go tops 750W. EVGA makes good PSU's, here's one as an example! Also, based on your usage, I'd guess that the i7 might be overkill, and you could probably get away with an i5-6600k, but it depends again on your usage (although, in MOST cases, this will be a sufficient CPU)

Also, liquid cooling solution? Any reason for that over the typical air-based cooler? It won't necessarily be any quieter than some air-based options available, and the one you've got is a bit... on the robust side. It's a really good one from what I've been made to believe, but I'm not 100% sure it's necessary (unless you really, really want to go the liquid cooling option, then it's probably close to being the best one you can buy).

HDD wise, technically black performs better than the blues, but you might be able to find a more affordable blue option as an example, and pay half the price. And in terms of performing better, in most cases, depending on your use, you will probably not even notice the difference.

SSD is solid, I love the EVOs.

What are you thinking for a case? Didn't see it listed, unless I just looked over it.

Yeah I agree with that. It's only a little bit more expensive, so definitely worth while. I'd say 16gb is plenty for now, and you can always upgrade later when it'll be cheaper.

I'd also step down on the PSU. Go for 650W max. Something like this will more than offset the cost of better RAM.

The G1 is EVGA's worst Gold efficiency PSU and is an older group regulated design that isn't very well suited for modern systems that have most of their voltage on the +12v rail. As for removing/replacing the PSU Id suggest you take a closer look at your current setup. Youll find a 8 pin cpu power cable that plugs in to the top left corner of your motherboard by the cpu, a 24 pin connector thats located by the ram slots, the 2 PCIE power cables for your video card and then any sata power cables for cd/dvd and HDD/ssd drives.

removal is pretty easy, unplug the psu, unplug and unroute the cables to the peripherals,unscrew the 4 screws at the back of teh case that hold the PSU in place and remove it.

hmmm, I've never heard of that happening, but the G2 is the improved model of the G1 so it makes sense. It is however $10 more on Amazon which is where I'll be buying most of my parts from. Is it worth the extra $10? Here's the link to it.

So for the CPU, I chose an i7-7700k for you, since this will be extremely beneficial to VM running due to hyper-threading capabilities, and for server level applications. As for the Cooler, I choose the Coolermaster 212 since you don't plan on overclocking just yet, using air cooling for now is acceptable. I chose the MSI
MSI Z270I GAMING PRO CARBON AC Mini because it has Wifi built in, along with your optical audio output, however you might need to invest in a sound card that has an optical audio input. The RAM chosen was the best price for the speed and capacity. SSD was chosen based on lowest cost per dollar (Crucial is also a very reputable brand), along with a 1TB HDD for whatever. GTX 1070 because they are awesome. The Case was the most budget friendly, and has a window (also allows for side panel air intake which I'm a huge fan of), Price for the PSU isn't listed, but this $90 one would be my recommendation. I picked budget friendly peripherals, but these can always be upgraded.

the EVGA supernova G2 is gold but it has scored perfectly on jonnyguru and if you look at any other reviews it will say that it is top tier. So while not being titanium it is a top notch PSU for 100$ (less when on sale which isnt rare).

If you're buying today (and in the USA) the EVGA G2 650W is on sale at Amazon for $70.

PSU: Please do not get 1200W PSU. You do not need that much. I understand building a dream build and all, but that's just throwing money out the window at that point. The only benefit is that it will be completely silent most of the time, but even then, a good PSU is very quiet when the fan is running. Can just get a 650W/750W for $90~, which is plenty.

MOBO: Your current mobo is fine, though a bit pricey/flashy.

RAM: Same problem with your PSU. Way too expensive. Your case doesn't even have a window, so shilling out money for fancy looking RAM is just a waste. Go with a simpler 2x8 DDR4. Here is a set that is faster, and cheaper. Could go even cheaper than that too, which I'd suggest.

Monitor: Get a better one if you're wanting a dream setup. 1080p 60FPS on a 1070 with this budget is a waste IMO.

Storage: You're over paying way too much here. Why do you have an HDD, SSD, and a hybrid? Drop the hybrid, and swap to a 2TB HDD from Western Digital. I would also go for Samsung 850 EVO instead. Twice the storage, great speed/quality, for only $40 more.

OS: Why do you think you need a Windows 10 PRO? It is not at all necessary for a majority of PC users. Windows Home is half the price, and will have everything you'll likely need.

Yeah, looks solid. Few things though. I just realized the 550W is after a rebate. If you have Amazon Prime, you can grab the 650W G2 for about the same price, without having to deal with the rebate.

And for the wifi adapter; I've never been a fan, if you can't go with a wired setup, I'd go with a powerline adapter. What the adapter does is, it uses the wires already in your home to transfer your internet, basically. So it's the next best thing to being wired. Just throwing that out there since I've been through so many USB/PCI-E WiFi adapters when I was living in an apartment. They just kind of die out, aren't that stable, or kinda suck. This'll give you a more reliable, stronger connection.

So if I were to purchase BitFenix Alchemy multisleeve cables, would it be overkill? Or do only certain cases/power supplies give you the cables?

I ask because I've already purchased the Corsair 760t Tower and the EVGA SuperNova 650 power supply.

What I wanted to do was have everything color blocked, with blue and orange as my main colors. If I have the cables, it'd probably be cheaper just to sleeve it myself, but I don't know if it'll be provided. I guess I don't want to wait and see when it ships here only to have to order the multisleeve cables.

I feel like I want more than a 500w regardless. Will this 650w do? or should I get a 750w? It's only $10 increments more... And I feel like I can reuse it for futureproofing if I decide to upgrade my video card or what not. After 750w, it is no longer 10$ increments so not worth it.. I am a gamer so there is always room for upgrade and eventually I do dream of playing max settings and 100+ fps (fps is priority), just don't know when.
