I will try to find the original discussion on this and send it to you, but it was a variant of this that I bought.
The one that I bought seems to work great, but keep in mind that you may still need to keep updating your bluray player to let it actually read brand new discs due to the changing encryption standards layered on top.
This would only let you get away with not caring about the HDCP crud through the rest of the chain.
Yes there is a risk the PS5 will be the same, Sony never fixed the Samsung HDMI compatibility bug, it went beyond that to PC monitors too, other consoles never had these problems it was PS4 only.
I would recommend selling your TV and replace with another brand.
If you don't want to do that the only alternative is to put a low latency HDMI signal processor between the console and the TV like a HD Fury Vertex 2 but that is expensive, money is better put towards new TV.
A cheaper gamble is purchase a HDMI 1 in 2 out clone display box, the PS4/PS5 will see the box as the TV so it handles hankshaking then simply connect both outputs to your TV if you don't mind losing an extra HDMI port.

I have gone through a few splitters and they seem to work for a while then stop working. Ironically enough, my current setup is not working right now. I might end up throwing in the towel.

I figured I would try it out last night and of course it doesn't work. I can run the HDMI right to the component converter and it streams through the app. SO that would indicate the converter is not the issue. However, the app also says "Failed to load Gallery items". Not sure what that is all about.
I had the splitter replaced thinking it went bad, but the replacement now does the same thing. Not sure where to turn at this point. I might try to use four identical cables between each device (X1 box, HT Receiver, splitter and converter).
I wonder if I can use the HDMI passthrough on my Pioneer Elite receiver to run direct to the converter and bypass the splitter.

Is it possible for a cheap HDMI splitter to fry an AVR's HDMI circuitry? I bought this so I could connect an Nvidia Shield to an HDR TV a non-HDR receiver. Now all of the HDMI ports on my receiver have either stopped working, or they aren't accepting a signal properly. Colours are inverted and the AVR isn't detecting any audio signal.
Edit: I've done a factory reset on the receiver and it hasn't fixed the problem.
