You simply need a flat car or something that you can tape a small camera to, and have a loco push it around the layout. Nothing special to it.

The Polaroid Cube is $99, or there is the Gopro Session for $199. If you are looking for something even cheaper, the SJ4000 action camera can be had for about $50 and is pretty good.

I personally have an SJ 4000, and I may try this with my N scale layout. If I do I'll post a sample video.

Consider getting a dash cam or two as well and pointing them out of your car windows in the direction of potential keying or tire slashing view locations. Some of them are super tiny (one inch cube or even smaller if you are willing to pay more), inconspicuous, and can be attached via an internal magnet to inconspicuous locations inside of your car. You can put a piece of dark tape over the flashing LED that indicates it is on. It will just sit and record all the things going on around your car in whatever direction you point it and you can download the video later.

If you go this route, which if I were in your situation I would do myself, make sure you attach the cameras somewhere other than at work or your home. Perhaps you could use a trusted friend's garage or somewhere else where you are convinced the culprit wont notice you installing them (installation being as quick as sticking it to a piece of metal inside your car and pressing the button depending on the brand you get).

My partner has this one - a Polaroid Cube that is particularly tiny and inconspicuous but apparently it can only store about an hour or so worth of video. You might want to research other options if you wanted to go this route to be sure that it can record overnight or during whatever time frame the vandalism seems to be taking place.

Also, it goes without saying to keep ALL of the records you have currently of contact thus far. Document everything that happens including the day and time to the best of your ability. Keep even better documentation going forward so that if they are able to catch the person(s) doing this, there can be a whole slew of charges brought upon them for their numerous activities against you.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I wish I had better advice beyond what everyone has been offering thus far. Stay safe!

Just found out about this, it's pretty small so you could hide it on your bars.

I would be careful of anything with no reviews

I have the ContourROAM which works great.
It doesn't record continuously but when I get to the office every day I just format the disk and recharge.
It has to be recharged anyway so remembering to format is not an issue.

Polaroid also have a new camera out.

Don't assume this. Assume everyone out there can see you clearly, and are trying to kill you.

I haven't done it yet but flexrc says it will carry a gopro so it'll carry a run cam. I've been using my little polaroid cube camera lately, it's only 45.4g vs the gopro's 88g and the runcam's 50g.

same price as the runcam too..

Great idea! Alternatively, you can get a less established but equally capable one from Polaroid - for a fraction of the price! It used to be $99, so this little thing is looking pretty sweet.

EDIT: Also, /u/TH3KARMACHARGER, how tall is your little one?! His doorknob-level POV is pretty much mine, lol.

There's tons of reviews on YouTube. It's does an amazing job for the price point. Good luck!

You have a good point.I use the YI on my larger quads and was seriously thinking of getting the cube for my 250/210.The main reason for not using a YI on my 210 is space to mount.

No, because I am assuming Polaroid will sell the Cube camera in the UK (so no need to import from the US). At the moment the camera is only available from a third-party seller on Amazon.co.uk.
