Whey flying, I just take one of these, with a long cord and multiple usb outlets. Works well in airports.

On shorter trips (up to couple hours from home) one of these is super portable and great for charging phones without an outlet. (would be nice if it would charge with lightning so I could reuse the cable)

Buy a portable external battery charger. They've got 2-3x the charge of an iPhone battery.

I have both of these:

You could probably pick up something similar in-person at BestBuy or wherever people buy electronics in person these days.

Its more maH than you need but I've used it with awesome results

I bought a 10 Ah (10000 mAh) one with 2 ports on Amazon the other day for $22.

Same company has a 24 Ah one with 4 ports for 80.

I have this one and I really like it! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ITILPZ4

I've had it almost a year and no complaints.

u/dudenamedben · 2 pointsr/raspberry_pi

If you aren't planning on plugging in any high power USB devices (hard drives, etc) 1A should be sufficient.

e: And if you're really concerned, this one outputs 2.1A.

u/NerdyBrando · 2 pointsr/Nexus5

I have this one and I like it quite a bit. 10,000maH and it charges really fast.

u/MetalGearFlaccid · 2 pointsr/iphone

I have This Poweradd 10,000 mAh and its really slim and fits in my pocket. It will charge my phone about 2-3 full times. Also I got it from my Reddit secret santa!

u/br0nco · 2 pointsr/AppleWatch

Thanks! I used a 'poweradd' battery because it had good reviews and the usbs had a good layout as well as the button (both on one end). I mistook the mah with another battery i have but its 10,000mah. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ITILPZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_3ynpxbQ0XT4B5

As for the jeans, it wasn't my first choice but it's what I had at the time to work with. I actually like how it turned out though.

Look for a power bank that provides 2 amps or more (2.1 is what the iPad uses so that's a common number too). Then you want to make sure you get a good quality (i.e. thick) cable to allow that power to get to your phone.

Also, a 3000mAh portable battery won't be able to charge a 3000mAh internal battery from 0 to 100. There's a bit of power lost due to heat, so you'll want to calculate it like this:

phone battery capacity x number of charges you want out of the battery pack x 1.2

I can recommend this one which works well with my G3.

For everyone else. I found this last year for $16 via a Dealnews.com coupon. It's currently $18 Prime.

u/Bubo_scandiacus · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I own both of these and would recommend them:

  • PowerAdd 10,000 mAh - basic battery pack, two output levels
  • ToHLo 15,000 - larger, solar charging battery pack (solar charging is very slow though; 1 full day = ~ 1/3 charge)

Make sure you also buy a USB-A to USB-C cable too. I got a relatively small one so that I could fit it in the case.

The first one, the PowerAdd, I actually keep in the Switch case itself. I have the ButterFox case (version1, version2) so there's enough room for the Switch with JoyCon attached, the PowerAdd, a charging cable and two extra Joy Con.

    Also, for your reference:

The Switch's battery size is 4,000mAh. This means that a 10,000 mAh battery pack will refill it about 2 times (some power is lost in transmission, hence why I don't say 2.5 times or anything like that) and a 15,000 mAh pack should refill the Switch about 3 times over. When charging the Switch, make sure to use the higher output socket. On the PowerAdd this is denoted as 2 lightning bolts instead of 1 (2.4A instead of 1A) and on the ToHLo I believe output2 is the 2.4A socket. Any power bank will do, just ensure it has at least one 2.4A USB output.

Deal only works if you buy an external battery pack with the usb charger.

  • External Battery pack - 21.99
  • 5-Port USB after discount code N9X6FYQW - 5.99

Total: ~$27. Not worth it unless you don't have an external battery pack.

Let me double check and make sure this coupon doesn't work with other combinations. There might be a good combination in there.
u/lifesizehumanperson · 1 pointr/JapanTravel

Went through Beijing twice with this guy with no problem. They definitely check (but didn't in Chicago or Tokyo), and the first time two people gave it a look, but it was fine in the end.

u/sunwriter · 1 pointr/Otakon

For a cheaper option I recommend this one. I get 2-3 complete charges on my phone with it. It's a little bigger than I'd like, but well worth it.

u/I_am_Nightwing · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Not sure what the difference between a USB-C and a regular battery pack is, but I use this. Not sure if it's available in the UK but I use it on my device perfectly well, and it even allows for multiple devices at once (one with a slot for USB type 3 for quick charge).

u/-BW- · 1 pointr/EDC

I use this for camping trips. It's capacity is 10,000 mAh. Depending on the phone, this could get you 4-5 full charges.

u/ArchangelleCumBlast · 1 pointr/books

Why, charge? New Kindles last at minimum a week with hardcore usage. If that's not enough, grab an external battery. The paperwhite battery is 1420 mA, and that pack is 10000 mA; you could probably be camped out for a full month and a half and not have to worry about running out of charge.

u/crispychoc · 1 pointr/apple

I would add all programs manually after restore. Just add the essentials for a few days, see if it's any better. Add some more. Etc... If You do a restore from backup you'll probably restore the culprit too. (if there is one)

For a battery USB charger pack, something like this?

http://www.amazon.com/Poweradd-Pilot-2GS-10000mAh-Smartphones/dp/B00ITILPZ4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419829401&sr=8-1&keywords=USB+battery+pack

There are others, just read the reviews on amazon to get a good idea.

I've had 23 phones in 2 years as a former manager for Sprint. All phones have shit life. The best I had was the LG G Flex, that had a beast battery with only a 720p screen to power.

But the best thing I did was buy this battery pack from Amazon. It has Dual USB (1.0A + 2.1A) so you can really juice up and even cooler is that since it's not a battery for X phone, as long as it has USB on one end, I can use it for anything. I even got USB Nintendo 3DS charging cables that work with it. And for trips it is a life saver.

u/xavier_505 · 1 pointr/RTLSDR

That cable with something like this would work.

u/hrrrrsn · 1 pointr/raspberry_pi

http://www.amazon.com/Poweradd-trade-10000mAh-Portable-Smartphones/dp/B00ITILPZ4/ref=sr_1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1406519235&sr=1-2

While testing the RPi lasted over 8 hours before I disconnected it, in theory it can go for much longer. Works great.

Perhaps something like this would be useful for your trip?
