Your title says SSHD if that's the case then a 1tb or 2tb Firecuda would be the best bang for your buck.

If you truly want an SSD Mushkin Reactors are your best bang for the buck 500gb go for about $135 and 1tb for $230

u/JJMcGee83 · 3 pointsr/PS4

I'm personally going to go for 2TB because I don't know if I'll notice that big of a difference in performance.

I'm trying to decide between these ones

https://amzn.com/B01C4W2P18

https://amzn.com/B01LX13P71

https://amzn.com/B00I8O6OQ4

but I can't decide if either would be better or worse.

Upon comparing them closely I couldn't tell any difference in specs between the $90 one and the $100

2tb Seagate here

u/3LD_ · 3 pointsr/Piracy

Harddrive goes inside USB3 Sata Enclosure plugs into Powered(important) USB3 HUB plugs into ROCK64's USB3 PORT.
Provide power to Rock64 and USB hub using the included wallworts or, as in my case, a generic DC power supply and voltage regulator if necessary(rocknas and hub want 5v, but i needed to have a 12v mounted for other projects). Plug ethernet from router into back of Rock64.

Download OpenMediaVault image, and write to SD card with Etcher. Insert SD into Rock64 and boot. Login to your router to find Rock64 IP address. Type IP address into web browser to access OpenMediaVault, go to plugins, and install Transmission(torrent software), and then enable root SSH access in SSH settings.
SSH over as root and install sickrage. Lots of guides online, use this one if you chose a jesse openmediavault image(recommended as stretch comes with OMV4 which lacks most pluggins)

Get at least a 500GB SSD, otherwise you'll likely regret it. Currently the 500 GB Samsung 850 Evo, which is a great storage drive, is $149.99 on Amazon, and @ BestBuy. It's normally $10-$20 more.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OBRE5UE/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1506168480&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=samsung+850+evo+500gb&dpPl=1&dpID=41fw65-8tpL&ref=plSrch

If you need a lot of storage then consider the 2.5 2TB Seagate Firecuda, which was $84.99 on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LX13P71/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1506168395&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=seagate+firecuda+2.5%22+2tb+sshd&dpPl=1&dpID=51wh6SybvWL&ref=plSrch

I literally wouldn't recommend buying anything other than one of these two.

Then she is an extra great girlfriend getting you an extra controller too! (I didn't think pre-owned systems came with controllers as I have never bought a preowned system before.)

Also the hard drive is super easy to replace in in the original models if it's only 500gbs it goes quick espically if you have PS+. I replaced mine with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LX13P71/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it fit perfectly and works great. I'm not sure what the max amount of space a PS4 would accept, this is just what I could afford at the time. Just be sure to read on how to install it properly and install the system stuff properly on the new hard drive.

But since it's new you should be good for a bit even if it's only 500gb.

Any 2.5 inch hard drive should work, the more cashe and higher transfer rate the better. This one is 69 and slightly faster than the original drive.

u/onliandone · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme

The Ryzen 7 1700 has no integrated graphics. You do need a gpu anyway, and the 1050 Ti is not that expensive. But you could go down to a GTX 1050 or even a GT 1030.

> Also, do all the components actually fit in the case? It looks tiny!

It's a small one :)

Let's double check with the specs on http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/cases/node-series/node-202.

Mainboard first. It's compatible with Mini ITX, The X370GTN is Mini ITX, that should be fine. The cpu cooler may be up to 56mm. The 1700 comes with the Wraith spire, which has a height of 69mm, according to this post. Oh, it's good you asked!

Let's check the rest: SFX psu up to 130mm long, the SF 450 is 125mm. Maximum dimension of graphics card is 310x145x47mm (LxHxD), the selected 1050 Ti is 215 x 112 x 38 mm. The M.2 SSD will fit in any case. However, the HDD is an issue. The Node 202 does not fit 3.5" drives.

Sorry!

So, either the case should be changed (is there enough space in your luggage for a bigger one?) or one would need to change the cpu cooler and the HDD. The Noctua NH-L9a is 37mm, that would work. The HDD could be swapped with https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-2-5-Inch-Internal-ST2000LM015/dp/B01LX13P71/. Then it all should fit.

In that case you could get the Ryzen 7 1700X instead, if that is okay budget wise. Higher default clock, comes without a cooler and costs a bit more. Not a necessary change though, just feels a bit more effective.

Just a thought, but $/performance for gaming...might want to look at this

I had 2 buds that got their laptop stolen while in home port. those were about $2k laptops, so shit deal for them (they were idiots, left their rack unlocked while in a rush). I'm out of the navy now, but if I were looking for a gaming laptop, this is what I'd get. Had a buddy get one of these about a month ago and no complaints.

Get the hard drive too, but buy it seperate and install it yourself to save a few bucks here

Also, there's quite a few ways to save some money on amazon...so you can actually pay less for it.

u/Bocaprowler · 2 pointsr/PS4

Yes the PS4 Pro's hard drive will work fine in any PS4. As far as 2TB drives, I got this one, SSHD, faster load times, just a little more than a regular drive, and not as extremely expensive as SSD.

I also upgraded to a 2TB internal drive. Super easy to install, and you can back up your data to the cloud if you have PS+, or you can just plug in a flash drive (I used a 32gb, the ps4 should format it for you), transfer your save files to it from the data management menu, then just follow the directions from the PS4 site. You can also just Google it and there's lots of sites that'll take you step by step how to replace it as well as the specs for a HDD. This is the one I have on my PS4:

Yes that is 3.0
If you can afford it, get a Solid State Drive. A 500GB Samsung SSD will fly. Skyrim zones load in .4 seconds on my SSD, 4-5 seconds on regular.

But yes, 7,200 RPM will work. For sure it's possible to put in a secondary drive? This one looks very promising. All I have to do is buy this, open up the case, and plug it where it goes? Do I need a bracket or screws or a sata cable ect?

u/suredont · 2 pointsr/bapccanada

You can get a 2TB Seagate Barracuda for a little over your budget. Barracudas are reliable, reasonably speedy, perfectly fine hard drives.

u/TypingMakesMeMoist · 2 pointsr/buildapc

They will be slower but it would be negligible for anything without tons and tons of reads to it. You could always still install games you want on your SSD. And they are usually not loud at all. The Western Digital Caviar Black is one of the noisiest. But i could barely hear my Seagate. something like This would be fairly quiet and offer lots of additional storage.

This is the other one I'm looking at. It's a newer model of a similiar drive that seems to be favorited for the ps4 swap. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LX13P71/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile

u/JetsetBlackout · 1 pointr/PS4

Well, I ended up being impatient and went with the Seagate Barracuda 2TB since I picked it up from my local microcenter store, rather than waiting on a delivery from amazon. Swap was nice and smooth. Installed all my games i got over Christmas along with most of my old games, and still have over 1.1 tb free. Plus, it may be me, but this drive seems alot quieter than the standard drive.

u/barryallen2019 · 1 pointr/granturismo

When I got my PS4 Pro i got this along with it, you can choose the 1TB for a lower price as well. I heard that the HDDs that come with the consoles are actually SATA 2 even though the PS4 has a SATA 3 controller. I confirmed this (at least on my pro) when I replaced the 1TB. You wouldn't think it makes a difference but I noticed right away that my PS4 menu stopped lagging while I was in-game and GOW was playing a lot smoother.

u/PCparts4sale · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Sorry I'll pass. If I go 5400rpm I'll likely buy this unless the price is really good on here.

u/eng_knight · 1 pointr/homelab

I have had good success with shucking these... occasionally they drop below $100, not bad for a 4TB drive.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZTRXFBA/

They show up as ST4000LM024, which are PMR SMR(thank you mj_turner for the correction) drives.
They are 15mm drive height but that works fine for most if not all server disk trays.

I have also used these

not bad for the price and density.

Not /u/Maineiac, but RAID 0 does have some inherent risks - namely that if one drive fails you lose all your data. One way to counteract this, if you're willing to do it, is get another 1TB SSD, upgrade your main 2.5" 7.5mm hard drive to something like a Seagate 2TB for $86, and keep a backup of critical data from the RAID 0 array on it just in case something happens. Then, you get the speed and capacity of RAID 0 and some reliability in case of a failure.

u/goggamanxp · 1 pointr/Dell

I personally went with a Silicon Power 480gig SSD that I got on sale for $100 on Amazon.

If you want the most storage for your money, I would go for a 2tb Barracude drive by Seagate (Link: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-2-5-Inch-Internal-ST2000LM015/dp/B01LX13P71/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1502742768&sr=8-2&keywords=2tb+laptop+hard+drive)

If you want a little more speed than you could upgrade to the 2tb SSHD Firecuda by Seagate. (Link: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-FireCuda-2-5-Inch-Notebooks-ST2000LX001/dp/B01M1NHCZT/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502742768&sr=8-1&keywords=2tb+laptop+hard+drive)

Overall, I don't think that spending the extra $10 for the 8 gigs of Solid State storage is worth it, as I've heard of people having issues with the longevity of SSHD's.

u/tysonDUB · 1 pointr/PS4

Got this today. Not sure what you consider cheap, but I do think 2TB is a better bet than 1TB just so you don't need to do it again later. Also, this is one of the more reliable drives. Much smaller chance you'll have issues with this than with something cheaper.

u/ZToups · 1 pointr/PS4

No. Any normal 2.5" 7-8mm internal hard drive works (what you linked is an external hard drive). 2.5" hard drives are laptop standard size (3.5" is desktop standard size and won't fit). Example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LX13P71/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3CWFGZV1ZJAW2&coliid=I30CRLNKPF8CUZ&psc=1

u/Kevfu1234 · 1 pointr/PS4

I just picked up this model about a month ago Link

I had been tracking this and yours for a while, but ultimately settled on the Barracuda when it randomly went on sale for $86. So far no issues.

u/GWT430 · 1 pointr/thinkpad

You only get 2 drive bays in a T480 (assuming that it is the same as the T470). You get one 2.5 inch SATA Express bay, that is PCIe Capable (might be 2X or 4X, I'm not sure). And you get one 2242 M.2 slot that is mutually exclusive with WWAN (no cell service if you put a drive here). The WWAN slot is also PCIe 2X capable, and there is one NVMe drive out there.

You can use something like this to convert that 2.5" drive to Two m.2 slots.

https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Adapter-Converter-Support-25S22M2NGFFR/dp/B018AOZ9QM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1519865090&sr=1-1&keywords=2.5+inch+to+m.2+adaptor

The cheapest m.2 SSD is also 2 TB. So you could buy two of these for $1000, and then put something in the 2244 slot.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CXvbt6/western-digital-blue-2tb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-wds200t2b0b

I think this is the largest 2242 M.2 drive, at 512 GB.

https://www.amazon.com/Transcend-512GB-MTS400-Solid-TS512GMTS400/dp/B016W1PP5K

So with those 3 you could get to 4.5 TB of NAND flash, which is just a little short of your goal.

Otherwise, you are stuck at 2 TB HDDs. Those are all that are offered in the 7mm 2.5 inch variety. Offering you a max of 2.5 TB total.

https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-2-5-Inch-Internal-ST2000LM015/dp/B01LX13P71?th=1

Your other option is to buy a P51 or P52, which has room for up to 4 drives. One 2.5" SATA III slot. One combo, 2.5" SATA III or 2 2280 M.2 dirves, and one 2242 M.2 drive.

Just upgrade your storage.

__

Internal Drive

I'm assuming you have a 2013 model, but on any version of the PS4, replacing the internal drive is easy. It really only gets a little complicated if you want to back up your data beforehand, which you'll need to do if you want to keep your saved screenshots and video clips (though game save data and system settings will be backed up to the cloud if you have PS+, but make sure they're uploaded first). Keep in mind though that if you are thinking about re-downloading everything instead of backing up-- accepting the lost of your screenshots and video clips in the process-- this also means re-downloading all of your games.

__

The choice of what kind of drive you upgrade to is up to you.

  • If you want to considerably reduce your load times across the board, you could opt for a 1TB SSD. Sounds expensive, but SSDs have had a drastic decrease in cost over the years, so a fast, 1TB drive to cut down your load times isn't unreasonable.
  • Whether you want to get the most affordable upgrade possible or if you prioritize storage size and cost over speed, a standard HDD will do the job. NOTE: The drive options in the HDD links go past 2TB, but those larger drives are 15mm drives instead of 9mm. Long story short, nothing past 2TB will fit in a PS4 without modifications.
  • For a mix of speed and storage space / budget, you could pick up the in-between option, a hybrid drive. There's a bit of nuance to these drives, but if you're looking for the best of both worlds with a single drive, a hybrid drive does offer increased performance without sacrificing storage space.

    _

To change out your PS4's internal drive (after backing up), turn off your PS4 and change out the drives. You'll have to get the PS4 update software from here, but, do not download it from the blue button, that's a different file than what you need. Scroll down to this part of the page and click on "Perform a new installation of the system software." Read through the instructions there, and you'll download the system software from the link under step 2. Then, turn your PS4 on in Safe Mode and install the system software.

There, your system's drive is upgraded and installed, now you just restore from your PS+ cloud save or your physical drive backup.

    _

    External Drive

If you don't want to deal with all of the work of changing out your internal drive, or maybe you want to run a dual-drive system, you can use an external drive.

A good USB 3.0 drive makes a great option for bulk storage. This way you won't be limited by what can fit in your system, but more importantly, you'll have the option to separate slower bulk storage from a faster internal drive.

If you included the above external drive with, say, a 500GB or a 1TB SSD, you can have your OS, capture data, and frequently played / bigger games on a faster drive, giving your better load times across the board, whilst still having a secondary bulk drive for your game collection. This is personally what I'd recommend.

But again, if you're just looking for an easy way to increase you system's storage capacity without dealing with hard drive swapping or OS installation, you could just get a large-capacity external drive.

    __

    The Point is

Instead of getting rid of games and getting new ones, just increase the amount of space you can use to store them.
u/Roach-King · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

You'll need a max of like 8GB to transfer games saves, profile, and OS. I'm not sure about screenshots tho cause I fucked with my OS restore and lost them.

I bought this one:

u/timzane · 1 pointr/thinkpad
u/mhero18 · 1 pointr/PS4

I personally don't think an SSD is worth the extra money. it will be faster in terms of load times, but the difference is not that noticeable.

if you want a 2TB HDD, this one (ST2000LM015) is great and recommended. If you want slightly better speed for a good price, get this SSHD (ST2000LX001).

and if you really want to save money, then this one (STDR2000100) is pretty common. more work involved though, because you have to crack open the case. there is guide in the sidebar. one benefit is you can re-use the case for your old ps4 hdd.

I referenced US amazon because i don't know canada stuff, but you can just look up the model numbers for each.

u/Fuel90 · 1 pointr/PS4

I don't think so. It could be that the drive is physically bad and not just corrupted. I would look on Amazon and look for a 2.5" internal drive.

This is a good option: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-2-5-Inch-Internal-ST2000LM015/dp/B01LX13P71/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

If your local BestBuy has it as well, they should price match (double check part numbers). If you buy it from BB and it still doesn't fix the system, you could return it.

> The simpler answer might be to install a new hard drive. Although the system has a 500 GB model built-in, the PS4 allows users to swap it out for just about any standard 2.5-inch hard drive. This means you can swap hard drives in and out, or simply buy a very large one — a 1.5 TB drive, for example, will hold about 30 full-size games, to say nothing of smaller indie titles.

> Sony has confirmed that users will be able to remove and install hard drives using only their hands and a Phillips-head screwdriver, but has not mentioned whether or not this will void the warranty. In the meantime, think very carefully about what you want your first 10 PS4 games to be.

On Amazon, 1.5tb comes in around $50, 2tb hard drive comes in from $70-99. I'm not sure how much the ps4 costs but it might be worth getting the 500GB and replacing it using a YouTube tutorial (this one seems recent
