Hinge pin?

Maybe from a door, or windshield?

u/self-schemata · 13 pointsr/Roadcam

I usually run with the doors off but the way the weather has been lately (North Texas) I've been keeping them on. 20 degrees one day, 70 the next... the full window zipper doesn't work for shit when it's cold. A split slide just makes too much sense.

and they can keep the damn things... holy shitballs.

I noticed at some point our 2007 doing this. I haven't replaced the door check yet, but I have it in my Amazon wish list for when I get a free afternoon and it isn't 40 below zero.

I just went through this. What I did was bought these bestop bags for the doors: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002SA31G/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They're very heavy duty and will prevent scratches etc to the doors. That way you can storage them easily inside.

For my hard top, I built myself a cart which was really easy. You can find the directions here: http://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/diy-hardtop-cart-85305/ . All you really need is some plywood (which most stores will cut for you), some wheels, some screws and a drill/drill bits. I duct taped some of the rough parts and also put some cloth on it. In total, it probably costed me $50. If you're storing outside, you may want to consider purchasing the Surco Hard Top Carrier instead of making it as the wood probably won't do well outside. You can also purchase the bestop cover: https://www.amazon.com/Bestop-42807-09-Charcoal-Wrangler-Hardtop/dp/B000VLF8AK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1467384165&sr=8-2&keywords=jk+hard+top+cart .

I leave my hard top panels in my freedom top bag right inside my hard top.

I am going to say both. Looks like that hinge has it's pin threaded on one end. Not sure what this is attached to, but could be threaded to attach a door stop.

Edit: clicked the post, didn't realize I was in a Wrangler subreddit. Thought I was in /whatis thisthing. So could it possibly be this?

I've seen people get ratchet straps with extra large hooks and cut up a pool noodle and put it over the hook to prevent any sort of marking being left on the hard top. I don't know how reliable that is.

FWIW I'm going to use the method in OP's picture the next time I hang it. I feel like it will be much easier, faster, and more reliable. Instead of hooking between each eye bolt and a corner of the hard top with 4x ratchet straps I'm going to use two ratchet straps and run the hooks of each strap under the hard top with the rear window up and hook either end to the corresponding eye bolt. The straps will run front to back relative to the hard top and I'll likely have the ratchetting end towards the front of the jeep to make access easy.

The struggle with my method is the game of ratcheting the hard top up evenly.. I have to ratchet 3x on each ratchet strap then move to the next... round and round I go until the hard top is off the jeep and as high as it can go. The method is still very fast. I have a 2 door JK and solo the entire process of taking off the doors, freedom tops and hard top takes me about 28 minutes on average. If I have help this drops to about 18 minutes depending on the helper's understanding of what is happening.

I have hangers for my doors. I put a 2x4 up horizontally along my garage wall screwed into studs with 4 inch decking screws.. then I mounted these hangers to the 2x4: https://www.amazon.com/PROABSTO-Storage-Hanger-Wrangler-Bracket/dp/B07F9MCJ7K/

I also have 2x shreet rock carriers that I use - one for each door. I really only need one now but before I set up the hangars I used to rest the doors each on a carrier to prevent any damage to the body/finish from my concrete garage floor. The technique with the sheetrock carrier is to lift the door with the carrier from the front with one hand while grabbing the outer door handle with the other hand. I put some thin foam insulation for car audio (like dynamat) on the hook portion of the sheetrock hangar so the door doesn't slide in it. The sheetrock carriers I have are here, although you could go cheaper - it was the only option available to me at my local hardware store: https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-93-300-Visibility-Orange-Panel/dp/B00002X2EV

My freedom tops actually sit on top of the doors without retention although I'm going to thread some eye bolts into studs on either side of them and put a bungee cord as a safety retention. I've seen other people who use the same hard top storage method store the freedom tops on top of the hard top - I've never heard of an issue with them doing it that way. My first hard top suspension was an unwalled carport so wind was a factor and it would rock the hard top so I didn't want the chance of the freedom tops sliding off the hard top.. the habit I gained from that has stuck even now that I have a fully closed garage.

I bought some of these
door hangers
I’ve had to problem with scuffing but a few ideas would be get some carpet and wrap your studs with it or some pool noodles and cut a slit down one side and wrap the studs with that.

This advice isn't super specific, but you should probably remove the door panel and have a look. Window tracks aren't easy to get to but various things happen to them - the wheels wear out or one of the tracks falls off or spot welds break. If you look you might spot what's wrong easily. Adjusting or fixing the broken piece is probably what it needs. You can also clean and lube the tracks. They go way down inside the door. Internet swears by the "Honda Shin-Etsu grease" for this though it's expensive and even some silicone lube in a spray can is better than nothing.

I'm not saying this is exactly what you need, but just to give an idea:

Not cheap, you might be able to call a junk yard a used one. Otherwise it looks like there is a used option on Amazon.

u/eocturkey · 1 pointr/E30

So without actually seeing it, it's hard to give you some advice of what parts you need to fix your issue but this is similar to what I purchased to fix my door lock issue. E30 lock cylinder

Might I also suggest looking for parts on Real OEM one of the best tools for finding parts and part numbers with actual diagrams for BMW's. Hope this helps and good luck with your issue!

u/gretsch59 · 1 pointr/CherokeeXJ

You need this. I had to do this on my Jeep. Not gonna lie, it sucks. You have to jam your hand in a tight space and install it completely by feel. I had found a diagram of the whole assembly on a jeep forum that helped a lot. I’ll see if I can dig up a link

Edit: here ya go. Hope that helps.
